Who has Linkin Parks new album? And who think's it's as good as Hybrid Theory? I think some new songs are better, others are worse, so it's really difficult to say

I dont think they like being called a rock band, because of the hip-hop elements... but hell with that, we'll call them a rock band

I don't have the album, but I heard a lot of the songs when KWOD aired their interview. It's REALLY good and I have to say I won't be disappointed at all when I get it. I think it's just as good as Hybrid Theory.

the theme they have going with the damn commercials, etc....
the people spraypainting the survailence cameras with masks on... and so on...

that's all just a big rip-off of the ATARI TEENAGE RIOT "Too Dead For Me" video!!!! except not nearly as cool.

I have the album and I think that it is just as good as Hybrid Theory. May-be I'm one of the few who thinks that but the lyrics are still as powerful as Hybrid Theory.

I bought Meteora the day it came out, as well as the extra DVD. I'm not dissapointed at all. Even though it wasn't until around track 8 that I started to get into it on the first listen, all the other tracks have really grown on me now. I recommend 5 - Hit the Floor (which is one of the heavier sounding tracks on the cd) and 9 - Breaking the Habit (IMO some of the strongest lyrics and the richest backgounds on the entire cd). My best friend loves track 11 - Nobody's Listening (funky asian flute samples)
I was hooked on Hybrid Theory on my firsit listen but Meteora has taken some time for me to get used to, but I love it all the same. IMO the lyrics on Meteora are stronger and the music is a mix of Hybrid Theory and the general style of Reanimation (which I love as well).
Groups need to grow and evolve through each album and I'm perfectly willing to grow with them. ^_^

yeeeahhh..
but Linkin Park are basically a boy band.. they're pre-fabricated.
it's not like they formed themselves and their sound is really that genuine ...out of a scene or personal attitudes.
they're put together with the purpose of chart domination.

That may be your opinion, but I'm certain that I wouldn't share your opinion about all the groups/artists that you like. I get the feeling that this thread was started by someone who likes Linkin Park and is more about understanding Meteora than putting them down.
Unless you have some sort of constructive things to say on the topic I would very much appreciate it if you would keep your negativity and Linkin Park bashing to yourself.

I think Linkin Park is a band aimed mainly at the Townie market... so not many purist rockers will like it, nor will the irritating pop lovers.

And if you dont like Linkin Park at all, why come here?

I need the cd ;_; Im so deprived of money-ness.

Meh, I wouldn't care if they werent, rock or were just pre-fab'ed, If I like the song, and it makes me sing, or think, or write or whatever, then I like the song. ^_^ So wee?
Metora is fun to say o_O;; - I gotta agree with Babbit on the rest.
Im totally upset ...my brother lost my Hybrid Theory cd... ;-; ...

They may be "pre-fab" but Meteora was #1 when it was released as well as the #3 new release of the year.

I'm really diggin' Meteora as of now, but I'm also like 15 minutes away from buying the new Godsmack cd so we'll see how it stands up to that.

I didn't buy it yet...prolly not going to.

My brother let me borrow it, though and I ripped it onto my HD.

Faint and Breaking the Habit are my two fav's so far...I play them both whenever I open up Winamp. That and Third Eye Blind's new song "Blinded(When I See You)" I can't wait for their new album to come out either...

I haven't got the new album yet, but I still listen to Hybrid theory. The fact that they haven't changed is ok if you liked the first album, but if they don't change on the next one they're going down. I think I like meteora because it reminds me of hybrid, for that reason I like it, but I probably won't buy it -_-

Kia

um... I'm guessing that it's just me (b/c everyone else keeps saying that they haven't changed) but I really do think their style has evolved, at least slightly. When listening to the two albums I get a sense of the backgound music being more intricate, more involved than in Hybrid Theory. The levels of the sounds are worked to an art. But I think it's just me.... :(

hahaha i spent $22 on their first CD as a gift for my brother... and they're all right. i really liked them when i first heard them, but then it kind of died down for me... >,<;; it's good that you are all buying the CD to support LP... but i don't think i like them enough to spend another $15-20 on buying Meteora.

Kia

I got Hybrid theory for $5 (canadian) so I figure I can afford to spend a little bit more for the meteora dvd. ^_^

..and that means nothing essentally.

I mean they're a boy-band pretending not to be.

LOL KANEDA, at least they're not dancing around wearing semi-matching outfits against a wind machine! ^_^ (I'm just hoping that I never have to regret that ^_^)

I love LP, I'm sure alot of them, Meteora wasn't as well, Loud as Hybrid Theory. I'm pretty sure Reanimation did them no good, what do you think?

Kia
05-07-2003, 02:14 PM
I seem to be the only one who actually likes Reanimation...

Babbit_Chan
05-07-2003, 10:27 PM
Kia: I didn't actually buy Reanimation, so I can't say I DIDN'T like it.

Over the weekend I recieved this CD as a present. I also have Hybrid Theory and I do think that it's better than Meteora. There are a few songs on here that sound well and have good lyrics, but I can't listen to the whole CD in one listen like I can with Hybrid.
