I've looked at tons of wigs online lately, and I've never seen one that long. It would be extremely hard to keep a wig like that from tangling anyway..@_@

some wig shops can custom order them. needless to say they are way expensive.
(went to order a pluto wig of 49 inches and it was going to be $60)
but some places can order them...

extensions on a wig sounds like a good idea....

hmm i think really long wigs tend to look messy and are quite uncomfortable.....if i were you, id go for something a bit shorter...its more manageable and light. ^_^ but thats just me

I am looking for a long bright Pink wig to go as Kurumi from Steel Angels. Ok, all you Utena fans, any suggestions?

How long? Witchwigs have a lot of their (I think) 30-35 inch wigs in bright colors...

I am talking I want long! The only problem with Witchwigs is that I can't get someone to get back to me as to if you can put the wig in a ponytail!

I know where you can get a medium quality 5 foot blonde wig. It's not the most natural looking thing in the world, but for cosplay purposes it works. I used one for my Celes Chere wig.

Go to harrietcarter.com and do a search for "wig". You can get it in either black or blonde. It turns out to be about $15 with s/h.

Things I Have Learned From Wearing Said Wig:
It tangles VERY easily, also gets stuck on some things
If you are 5'1" like me, WEAR HEELS so you don't trip
If you look at the back -really- closely, you can probably see the wig cap.
When storing it, tie it in a rope (twist it around; repeat) don't try to braid it, it will just get more tangled.

But all in all, I was pleased with the results ^_^

Tangles are bothersome, combing a five foot long mess is even more troublesome. Seriously, you should consider something along the lines of a 40 to 49 inch wig. You will still have the dramatic length but less trouble. ^_^

Also, long wigs don't come very cheap. If they do, they are guaranteed to tangle like mad with the slightest provacation. >_<

I got a five foot wig for my chi costume and it got so tangled bringing it home from Otakon that it might be completely ruined. Be really careful in storing it!

Did you consider http://www.amphigory.com/ for long wigs (44")? Their shipping takes a while, but the wig is a decent price considering the length & quality. I'm very happy with the fact that I can brush it out with no difficulty and that it is fairly full (since my other really long wig has considerably less hair).

Rosiel is correct about ponytails- just be sure that you have a wig head to attach it to while styling. Depending on the length, it can be quite a hassle to style up into a ponytail (but this really depends on if the ponytail needs to be on top of your head). For long wigs, it can get heavy, so you need to be sure to attach it really securely to your wig cap or whatever. Oh, that's another thing- you can use dye to get your wig cap to match the wig color, and that helps hide how sparse the back of the wig is.

I need it to drag on the floor thats why I need it to be 5'1" (I am only 5'), for my elf rune costume.

One note about them... (I went through quite a lot LOL) they do get horribly tangled (get wig conditionner) and their lifespan is about 3 cons.

Well the wig will be in dreedlocks annyway so tangled wigs is no prob.

Well, I found this one, but I'm not sure if it would be good enough, since the bangs might get in the way, and it is pretty expensive. ^^: but here's the link anyway:

I see the Lady Godiva wig, but how good would it be to dye it pink? Any suggestions?

> but how good would it be to dye it pink?

I now have dyeing experience. It was not fun, LOL, but most of my blunders were aboidable.

Get it the lightest blonde you can, and you should be able to dye it. It IS a hit-and-miss thing, but my own wig turned out perfect.

I achieved that color (http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=5898) from a white wig, by dyeing it. (this is actually the same pic as my icon but you see all the hair, in natural light the blue was a lot stronger, while with flash and neons it looked more silver)

What you should do is get red rit dye, heat water in an old pot, dump it all in(saturate the water), then test a strand to make sure it does not melt first... dump the wig in, stir, and take it out quickly. (Do not dump the dye out until you're sure your wig is done) Rinse under cold water until the water is clear. It should be pink.

If it's too light put it back in longer.

Blue is a LOT harder to get right because blue pigments do not "stick" as well. Pink should be a snap.

Oh make sure you wear gloves (I dyed my fingernails!) old clothes and move the wig from the stove-top to the kitchen sink as quickly as possible. Or you will get dye EVERYWHERE.

(I turned into a smurf)

Thanks! I am not quite sure what I am going to do about it yet, but I think this should help! I am going nuts trying to find a wig to go as Kurumi, mainly because I am so freeking detail oriented, that I think this should work.

If you need really long wigs with long bangs,
i suggest going to theatricalwigs.com and order
the ''bride of frankenstien one''.. ther's a variety of
colors and you can even order them with colored
bangs! ^_^ My sis was sephiroth and she a pure white one..
it's nice and long.

It's only about 30 inches though... which isn't very long... that's actually shorter than my real hair. ^___^

You can find Lady Godiva wigs in the 40-50 inches, that might be closer to what you need. Then add extensions. Lots of them. You can get them cheap on ebay.

um.. it is pretty long though.. long enough. the godiva one gets tangeled very easily. My sister uses that one for her galadriel costume and it's a nightmare to deal with.

I remember theatricalwigs godiva being 5'. They also have a naked godiva for 6', if u wanted to trim. That one's curlier, though.
Does anyone know if we have to order a color chart for theatrical wigs? There's no color guide on the site

www.amphigory.com has a nice, long wig that you can cut bangs for (they have instructions on the site) and that look good in ponytales :)

I was skeptical about ordering wigs for my Sivil costume, need a no-bang long deep purple wig and nothing is the right shade!! One place that had it in the exact color & length I needed and seemed to be great quality was www.wigtech.com but the one I am eyeing is $110, as seen here: http://www.wigtech.com/crystal_page.html Gotta save my cash because I am soo in love with it!!

Just a word of warning about Wigtech - I had bad luck in dealing with them once, and have never tried again. I could get no response to multiple emails. This was, however, two years ago, so things might have changed by now. *shrug* Just thought I'd warn you that it might be a good idea to try to find a backup plan, because when you really need that wig you don't want to be stuck with people that won't answer you. ^^;;

I'm in the NY area myself so I plan on calling Wigtech after the holidays so I can talk to a real person before I send them a big chunk of my weekly paycheck, I may even stop by their shop while I'm in the city. The wig is just so pretty so I'm going to have to try them, unless I can find a place that has that shade of purple I need that is not some Bargain costume wig.

Thank you for giving me the heads up though, I appreciate it! BTW, fter seeing the work done with all your costumes and seeing the CCS group in person, I just gotta give ya a hand for the great work you've done! ^^

That's a good idea. I'd love to hear if/how it works out - there's a couple of wigs on their site I have been interested in, and if it seems like a good idea to try them again, maybe I'll give them another chance at my business. ;)

And thanks for the compliments! Now, if only I could get faster so each costume didn't take months of work, then I'd be really happy... (yes, I'm never satisfied with my own work! The curse of a perfectionist... *grin*)

www.wigs.com has a wig you can get custom done in lengths up to 5' I think... just click on the longest wig in the world link... but they are uber pricey...

btw... the wig in my avatar photo is a Amphigory wig pulled back into a braid... it's very nice.

I know this isn't exactly the most relevant thread for my question, but Rosiel's tutorial prompted me to ask here anyway. ^^; I'm wanting to do a .hack//SIGN Subaru cosplay (http://cosplaylab.com/pics/7359.jpg), but so far it's impossible to find a wig _that_ color that can be modified to her particular hairstyle.

Now, Rosiel has explained her method, but I've also heard tell of people using watered-down acrylic paint and applying it via comb-in to acrylic fiber/plastic wigs in a rather painstaking process. ><; Has anyone ever heard of or tried that before? And which method would get me that teal green-blue color? A little prime advice on this would be much appreciated.
