Yo! ^_^ I have.... a burning question. Because I am a newbie at such things.

I'm plunking along with working on a Red XIII thing to possibly wear to AXNY, and so I'm making a brown/tan skirt and tanktop set that will have light tan faux fur on it.. like the fur would circle around the lower hem of the skirt, and random places on the tanktop that I haven't quite planned out yet. ^^; Question is, what would be the best way to get the fur on there? I'm afraid stitching would show through.. I've heard of some type of notion that fuses things together when you sew it (witchery? interfacing? am I making this up? ) but I dunno if that would work better? I don't want to try anything yet because I'm on a bit of a budget and can't afford to screw anything up.. *moths fly out of wallet*

Thanks ahead of time! ^___^ I appreciate it! :bouncer:

its like stitchery witchery or something retarded sounding, but it involves ironing. and i'm not sure at all how ironing and fur go together.

everytime i have fur i just hand sew it on.
i like to call it Strateigic Stitching - small and as few as possible.
Sometimes hot glue is worth a shot depending on the size of the random fur on the shirt is.

good luck. ^^

I recommend handsewing the fur. Use a short stitch length, like 1/4 inch or less, and "part" the fur fibers in the area where the stitch would fall, so that the fibers can come back together and hide the stitch. You can also use a fine brush (like a toothbrush) to fluff up the fur that had been stitched to further hide any telltale sewing marks.

When I was Squall, I had sewed on the fake fur
to my leather jacket.

It doesn't need to have all
the stitches close together.. loose stitches hold it fine
and it won't wrinkle the material it's sewed on.

Hi! Wandering around the shop, I looked up, and there, in all it's glory, it spoke to me! No, I'm not mad, I mean velcro! Why not try using velcro to attatch to the fur? glue onto the back of the fur and glue the other side of velcro to the collar of the shirt or whatever, and then just velcro them togther! ... Ok, it's not the greatest thought, but, well, it's still a thought...

Velcro is a bit temporary.. if you want stuff to hold
i'd suggest sewing.. (or stapling!) LOL.. but there
something called ''Industrial strength velcro". I used
it to hold my armor together..it works!

LOL industrial strength! :D

Yeah, I don't really want to remove it, as a matter of fact I'm glad it'll cover the messy hems to my skirt.. ^_^;; I am gonna use velcro on the arm bands though, so not all is lost! ^_-
