No Soliciting Customers or Commissioners, please.
This is not a Private Eye service, so if you have a question pertaining to an unlisted seller, please pay a visit to the Commissioners NOT to go to (http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=74409) thread.

Conversation and questions you believe could be helpful to others who may have the same concerns are welcome; drama is not.
This is open to eBay transactions.

Commissioner Reviews

If you wish to provide a commissioner review, please submit the following information:

Name of Commissioner
Website/C.com gallery
Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.)
Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item
Timeline (how long your order took to process)
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments.
Final Grade:

Please ONLY submit a review if you have personally commissioned this person. While it is kind to try and boost recommendations for your friends or family members, this thread is meant as a transaction review ONLY; those who are not past customers need not apply. This is a source based solely on fact, not rumors.

Recommended Grading system:
A +/-
This is for an undeniably excellent commissioner; no communication complications, no construction error or accuracy inconsistencies; someone you, personally, feel confident in working alongside and intend to again in the future.
B +/-
While they bore the attributes on an excellent commissioner, they bear areas which could use improvement. Either communication had a habit to lag, a size was slightly off (not due to ill-measurements) or accuracy was not up to par with what you had believed they were capable of; still recommended as they bear possibility of improvement, but will likely excel at smaller tasks.
C +/-
Not a commissioner you would readily recommend unless the circumstance was dire. Communication was weak, prices seemed unreasonable and it's possible a deadline was slightly missed. Construction quality might have been questionable and accuracy could have a noticeable flaw.
D +/-
Reconsider approaching this commissioner. Either deadlines were missed completely, construction was shoddy or accuracy was barely attempted. Communication was quite possibly nonexistent, prices were likely ridiculous considering the results; this is someone to be cautioned against.
F +/-
Do NOT approach this commissioner under any circumstances.

If you provide a review and wish to change it, to update a picture or whatnot, please edit the original post you made to avoid confusion. But be certain to let me know, so that the list can be updated accordingly!

Worn: Katsucon and to date

Pros: Cheap Price, good quality cosplay. She was very good with keeping up with my stupidity when it came to paypal. She was amazing when it came down to sizing and everything was well. I was happy to accept her finished work.

Con: Unfortunately, some things aren't accurate. The vest is a little to light and missing a few things, plus they are missing the studs on the ends of the collar. the undershirt wasn't made to accuracy as it didn't open from the bottom and top.
The pants were an off color and too tight.

Comments: She is very fair for what she asks. The costume itself is nearly indestructable and takes a good beating. I wore it for 4 days and wear parts of it as normal fashion.

Final Grade: B-

[I don't have a picture of me wearing it except in others galleries. XDD]

I got a pair of boot covers made for my Earth forces Soldier from moble suit gundam . I don't have any pictures because I don't have a digital camera yet. If I find my picture from a convention I will post them.

I don't remeber how long it took but she got them done in a timely matter, months before I needed them.

Pro: The material that she used was beyond my expectation! I didn't know much about fabrics, so I asked her to use something that would match my costume. She used a really thick vinyl and it was absolutely perfect!

Con: A bit slow to respond to emails but that's expected. But usually she replies within 24 hours.

Comment: She demonstrated that she knew her stuff and what she was doing. She really pays attention to detail so I am also commissioning her for another costume. I would recommend her for anyone who is anal about details.

Dejiko from Di Gi Charat (Dress, hat, mittens, legwarmers)

http://www.images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=516957 (Different paws and leg pieces shown)

Time: 1 week XD (SUPER FAST)

Pros: As mentioned above, that was BLOODY FAST! The costume is absolutely lovely, everything is nicely serged and finished! It holds up well and everything looks very professional. Great price as well.
She definately got the fabric choice on this dress down. The puff stays puffed and the ruffles stay ruffled. I've worn the hat as casual wear for... 2 years now? And it still looks great!
Cons: The sizing was a bit off. I use 27 inch waist for all of my measurements and for some reason the waist on this turned out loose. Also, while the dress was absolutely amazing, the mittens and paws look like they were an afterthought, just kind of thrown together at the last second. (In cream instead of white, no less) But we just made a new set and all was well.
Comments: The worksmanship and material choice was marvelous. I wouldn't hesitate to get another costume from her in the future!
Just as a note, while the costumes are great on their own, she designs them to be worn with a full petticoat. If you do not already own one, you will need one or the dress will look very... Flat.

Name of Commissioner: Lawrara Shop

Website: www.lawrarashop.com

Character Commissioned/Series: Haruhi Suzumiya - The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (top, skirt, armband, socks)

Link to Pictures of Commissioned Item: http://members.cosplay.com/costume/79702/

Turaround Time: The costume arrived in one week, which is really fast considering it was from Hong Kong.

Pros: I was a bit skeptical on ordering costumes from overseas, especially from Hong Kong/China since there are so many horrible stories about bad commissions. But this costume was AMAZING! The fabric quality is 100% polyester and is very nice. Everything is accurate and you get almost the full costume for a very decent price!

Cons: I really can't seem to find any cons to this costume or store except for maybe the socks it came with were too short and is not knee-length like the actual costume, but I think that's very minor. I just went to Target and bought some knee-length black socks and all was well ^_^

Comments: They have good communication and you get a tracking number after the package is sent so you can keep track of where the package is, though the owner doesn't tell you where the site is but I found it on Google. It's through the Hong Kong Post site (http://app1.hongkongpost.com/CGI/mt/enquiry.jsp?mail_type=registered_ouw). I will definitely recommend this shop to any cosplayers and I will most likely order from them again in the future.

Timeline: August 2006-March 2007
Pros: Everything is dead-accurate to the reference pictures. It fits well. She kept me updated along the whole process. Also, the price really wasn't bad at all for such a detailed and complex project, and it arrived well before the date I originally said I need it by.
Cons: Emails were occasionally a little slow, but it is understandable considering how busy she is.
Comments: I would not hesitate at all to commission another costume from her in the future. Her work is absolutely breathtaking. I would especially recommend her for any cosplayers who want some beautiful, but comfortable armor.

Timeline (how long your order took to process)

Took about a week in a half.

Pros: Her outfits are made with the right choice of fabric. She really nice and respond emails fast.

Cons: Her pics are just the same as the other sellers who steal pics. she sometimes confuses the measurements. However, she does make the outfits like the pics she has.
Also shipping sometimes is expensive.

Comments: The whole outfit was Great. The details and zipper on the arms where exactly like Misato's jacket. The hat fit perfectly, and the dress was made with the right material like the jacket. The only problem i got was the collar of the dress, was one inch bigger then what i said. But thats it.

Merchant Reviews

Same rules on drama as those for commissioners. This is open to eBay transactions.

If you wish to provide a merchant review, please submit the following information:

Name of Merchant
Website
Item purchased (please include quantity)
Links to picture(s) of your received item
Timeline (how long your order took to process)
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments.
Final Grade:

Please ONLY submit a review if you have personally purchased from this merchant. While it is kind to try and boost recommendations for your friends or family members, this thread is meant as a transaction review ONLY; those who are not past customers need not apply. This is a source based solely on fact, not rumors.

Recommended Grading system:
A +/-
This is for an undeniably excellent merchant; no communication complications, no quality error or customer service issues that are contrary to what they led you to believe they would provide; someone you, personally, feel confident in purchasing from and intend to again in the future. They might have very well gone above and beyond the duty of a mere vendor to ensure your satisfaction.
B +/-
While they bore the attributes on an excellent merchant, they have areas which could use improvement. Either customer service had a habit to lag, quality or accuracy was somewhat not up to par with they had convinced you they were supplying; still recommended as they bear possibility of improvement, and this might have been a fluke in a history of excellence.
C +/-
Not a merchant you would readily recommend unless the circumstance was dire. Customer service was weak, prices seemed unreasonable and it's possible a deadline was slightly missed. Quality might have been questionable if not noticeably flawed, shipping might have taken far longer than logically justifiable.
D +/-
Reconsider approaching this merchant. Either your promised delivery date was missed completely, quality was shoddy or customer service was quite possibly nonexistant. Prices were ridiculous considering what you received in exchange; this is a business to be cautioned against.
F +/-
Do NOT approach this merchant under any circumstances.

If you provide a review and wish to change it, to update a picture or whatnot, please edit the original post you made to avoid confusion. But be certain to let me know, so that the list can be updated accordingly!

Timeline: I commissioned them at the start of December, and recieved both and I believed I received them at the of December.
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments: Their prices are incredible. They are very friendly and they accepted money orders, which is a big thumbs up for me. They were very kind and managed to finish the costumes for my twin and I by the end of December. The Costumes came in a plastic package with no harm. They were free of wrinkles. The best thing of all, they made the pants Hakamas for no extra charge! The original shinigami costumes they made were not pelted hakamas, and they managed to make them for me and they are EXCELLENT. As for cons, they costumes were alittle big. It wasn't nothing big, but my chest would sometimes show because of the size. I bet it wasn't their fault, it must have been wrong measurements I gave them. Other than that, the costume was excellent and I am very very glad I commissioned from them. I will happy to shop with them again.

Quick question- I had a really bad commision from honestdragon really big and inaccurate colours and all that- HOWEVER I canibalised it and re made the whole costume (guess that's what i get for being lazy >_>) thus have no photos of the old product, just the remade item which imo (ofcourse I made it XD) is a good costume....should I put a review up or not?

Yo-Yo
03-11-2007, 03:44 PM
I think you should, just for the slot put down a description of it and say what you just said.
That's what I'd do.'M not saying I'm perfect, but.. xD
I think we all deserve to see how bad Honest Dragon is so we'll never commission from them.

Btw, I think this thread deserves a sticky <3

Character commissioned and series/video game: Mithra RSE, Final Fantasy XI Online

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: After months of pestering and contacting the seller again and again I just settled for the option of not doing anything and remaking my costume by taking the bits of costume apart and re-sewing it to actually fit me and be the right colours (more on this later) Therefore I have no photos of the original product but am reviewing as I think people should be aware when getting costumes from them. This is the photo of the costume they used: http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=1015382 but this is clearly not what I got, nothing near it- the photo looks lke an official costume from Square Enix (Reason i bought it in the first place)

Timeline (how long your order took to process): 2 Months from me paying to costume getting to me.

Pros: One of the very few to offer FFXI costumes for that price. The quality of the actual fabric wasn't bad at all- they used a type of fabric I would have chosen for the costume myself. The Gauntlet bit of the costume (not shown on the photo) was very well made.

Cons: They told me AFTER I paid that they are having a holiday so won't be able to make my costume for atleast a month after I paid. Fair enough, as I wanted the costume quite a bit as it looked great in the photo I was willing to wait. Asked me for my measurements, I make clothes and costumes myself so had no problem with providing that. On the 2nd month of me waiting the costume arrived. Had pencil marks everywhere on the chest, skirt.

The whole costume was lined with a horrible glittery gold fabric that had nothing to do with the actual costume. The gloves that were meant to go under the gauntlets were very small, maybe for a child about 5 years old...I don't have large hands at all but they were wayy to small even for me. And most of all the whole costume (Top, bra type thing on top, skirt) was made for someone about 4 dress sizes bigger than me. (I know this as my friend who's about 2 sizes bigger tried it on but some bits were baggy on her) Same with the leg armour bits, way too big. And the neck piece was very wonky and I could wear the thing as a hat it was massive and nowhere near the size of my neck. Brown accent in the middle of the skirt panels was missing alltogether.

I contacted the commissioner and they accused me of providing the wrong measurements (but I hardly think I can make a mistake so large). After quite a few more emails they agreed to re-make the skirt and top for me. I made sure I measured myself properly and send the measurements.
A month later the replacements came back, about 3cm smaller than the older ones but still much too big for me.

At this point I gave up and decided to pull both costumes apart and use bits from both to make my own costume that actually fitted me as I knew it wasn't going to get sloved by the commisioner. (I pulled the top in, tightened the bra type thing on top, took in the skirt, relined whole costume with the right colour taping, added the brown detail to skirt)

The costume cost me about $130 which I think is quite expencive for about a meter of red fabric + a few meters of coloured fabric tape....

Also communication was slow and it took almost a week for an email to come back to me the moment things got bad....

Final Grade: D-

Thanks for the tale of caution, aoisakura; I hope things turn out better for you in the future ^^ Glad it was salvageable.

List is updated! I rearranged the layout a bit to better accomodate multiple reviews; if anyone has a suggestion for more convenient organization, I am definitely open to it :)

experience in making such a costume and because she and I negotated
a price together and it was very kind of her to go as low as that, I felt
very lucky and blessed and very excited to finally go as a Sailor Senshi.

Cons: Last week after a month and a half insisting she'd have my costume
done BEFORE March was saying she had been very busy getting other
commisions done. Which I can understand but I was the first person to
get priority on my costume done and shipped out. I can understand that
my wig is also delayed but that's from a different comissioner alltogether.

Comments: I can understand how a bad memory can blind a judgement
about time and date, but I wish she would refer to the contract that I
made for her and me to know when I wanted, plus would respond to my
PM's or emails. I still plan on hoping to recieve everything before August
for my next anime convention, and though it sounds like I'm bashing her
here I'm not as I do have great respect and patience for her and I just
hope she can get her comissioner act, as I've been excited for months now.

List Updated!

When there's a change with your order, Usachan, please edit your review post appropriately with pictures of your received product (if it arrives) and a further description of how everything concluded; this list is ideally for transaction good or bad which have already been completed. I still updated with your listing, so all you need to do is update your original post as things progress ^^

I've made 3 commissions, 2 good, 1 not so good... but they were more like one of things. They don't really take commissions as a normal thing.
Should I still review them since they don't normally take commissions?

If they're still in business, I would recommend it ^^ Even if they only take two or three, have quite a few breaks where they don't accept any, etc.
If they only do commissions for friends or under very special circumstances, however, probably not; this is a resource for those seeking to hire commissioners, and it would be a shame if people started bombarding your commissioner with requests when they don't accept them from the public ^^

Name of Commisioner: GoddessBoutique.net http://www.goddessboutique.net
Costume: Young Yoruichi: Fulll costume (Except captains coat, was made by someone else.)
http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=988853
February 2006 – August 2006

Pros: Lainey from Goddess Boutique has super fast responses, and she tries to keep you updated on what’s going on as best as she can. Also their prices aren't too bad. She seems really nice and serious about her work.

Cons: The whole costume did not fit me. The top which should've had some way to snap around and secure itself to me was just a piece of fabric that flapped around and needed to be pinned shut. In fact the whole costume seemed rushed. It wasn't carefully constructed and because of that we had to alter some parts of the costume (including the hakama) and make the captains coat just to cover the imperfections. Also, I requested to have the costume a few days before the con. She expressed shipped it but I didn't get it till the day of my convention. I ended up not wearing it.

Comments: I had extremely high hopes for this costume but was let down. I'm not sure if I would ever commission from them again. However, I think the mistakes were due to the death in her family which happened around the time my costume was due. I have heard many people had great experiences with them so it may just be my loss this time.

Communication was excellent. Sent me pics of the wig throughout the process and before shipping to get my opinion and to see if there way anything more I'd like to have done. Always responded promptly to emails. Very courteous and professional.
Cons: Doesn't accept payment via paypal. Not a huge deal, but I like it better than sending checks in the mail.

I just wanted to remind people to post bad reviews as well...we don't need a thread full of positive reviews (although it is helpful).

Also, this should be stickied...and/or moved as the commissioners not to go to thread has turned to trash....it's basically 60 pages of he said/she said now...this is actually a very helpful thread, and is much "cleaner" than the other mentioned thread.

Sorry for the off-topic post, but I felt it was important :p

Okay, I'll include another review...one that I'm still pretty pissed about...

Name of Commissioner :

Company Name - Fire N Ice Anime
Individiual Name - Veronica Shockly and/or Ayami Shockly
E-Mail Tags - Glaygirl

Website/C.com:

www.fireniceanime.com (No longer exists...went down right after I got scammed)

Character commissioned and series/video game:

Shinji Plugsuit - Neon Genesis Evangelion

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item:

There are none...seeing as I never got the costume...

Timeline:

Never...

Describe your Experience:

Lets see...things started off great...communication was fast, and they stayed in talks even after payment was received ($300). Then a week before the due date I was told it was finished and shipped...come due date, I get this...

We have a problem. On Monday it will be resolved. I have been refunded my shipping funds (which I know does you no good). However, my wife went to ship the package for me and normally things go fine and well as she normally is the one to pack and ship all of the costumes and merchandise we sell. However, she claims she told the postal worker that she had not filled out the address label yet (it only had our address pre-printed onto it) but yours was to be written. Well, apparently the postal worker put OUR address on the delivery space as well, I received a pink slip stating I had a package. I was wondering what could have been mailed to me as I am not expecting any shipments in for another 2 weeks. Upon arriving guess what I find .. your package. My wife contacted the office immediatly and they made her fill out some paper work and gave a shipping refund. The package had been mailed out priority but the postal worker had assured us that it would arrive to you in 2 days (before the 5th) they explained to my wife that express would have only saved 1 day, but both would arrive before the deadline.
I am trying to fight for any other reimbursements that can be made for this inconvenience. But I wont be able to find anything out until Monday. Your package will be shipped out again immediately, and I will personally do it.
We can also offer you a 15% discount off of your next cosplay outfit, if you do chose to purchase any other costumes from us. I humbly apologize for this happening. We have always maintained a great reputation with customers and this really leaves a bad reputation from us to you.
I will also have photos of your armor on the website within the next couple days...but hopefully the actual costume itself will be to you before then!

I am deeply sorry

A total BS story...

Final Grade: F

The reason I post this review is so that people will know NOT to deal with this bitch if she ever tries to do commissions again. So please Kanira, in your list, could you include the old site name, her name, and her e-mail tag, it would probably be the most helpful.

Name of Commissioner: Buggirl2002 / The White Peacock (eBay store name)

Website: http://stores.ebay.com/The-White-Peacock
Character commissioned: Custom EGL Dress (just the dress)
Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item http://i8.ebayimg.com/04/i/04/7b/1e/9d_1_b.JPG (Don't have an actual picture, but it looks just like this.)
Timeline: February 2005 - September 2005
Pros: I can't even find a pro for this child.
Cons: Where do I begin...Uses cheap material. Lies about making custom dresses, everything is done through a manufacture. Just see comments.
Comments: This is another example of an eBay seller with high feedback, but is actually a crook. When I first started getting into EGL dresses I asked emailed her personally to have a custom made EGL dress done by her. I asked that the base dress be the same as the one shown above, however with extra things added to it. A pink bow in the back, a different colored lace around the sleeves and hem of the dress. Also, some other things that I can't remember at this time. The transaction started off nicely. She emailed me back promptly with a nicely priced quote. I paid in full in Feb and was given a bunch of BS after that. In Mar she emailed me asking me to choose between a factory made dress or a hand made dress. Since this was supposed to be custom made I chose hand made. After that I heard nothing from her until I emailed in May asking if my dress was finished she replyed with this:

I should have recieved a sample by now from the
factory I have been working with, but they have not
gotten back to me yet, and it's not like I have not
been nagging them at least twice a week. I have asked
that they get the sample to me by friday or the deal
is off. if they do not comply I can make your costume
by hand over the weekend.

After that I heard nothing from her again. The dress was due in June. I sent numerous emails to her after June asking about the dress. In August a week after my convention I got a package from her of one of her regular dresses that she pimps on eBay. With NONE of the custom adjustments I paid for. On her eBay page she promised the dress are made out of sturdy material (Though she has taken that promise down because many people have sent her complaints.). The dress she sent me was some stretchy, cheap ass fabric. I sent her numerous emails asking for my money back with NO reply back from her. She's still on eBay pimping these cheap dresses and PROMISING people that she can do custom made ones. She's a liar, and a thief. I wouldn't recommend her to my worse enemy.

This is actually one of my favorite threads on the board and I enjoy reading about the experiences people have. I recently recieved an outfit from Hunny Lee and will post my experience with her sometime in late May since that's when I'll really get a feel for how well the costume handled :D

Amethyst was absolutely wonderful right from the beginning. She's a little slow on e-mails, but she does get back to you eventually, so you just need to have some patience. She sent me progress photos along the way, and the costume was even shipped out far before the deadline date. This was by far the fastest commission I ever had. Also, she accepted this project even though she states her dislike with spandex. I was very appreciative of her hard work, and the costume looked fantastic~! Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: (none)
Timeline (how long your order took to process): About 2 1/2 weeks.
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments: Very good. Even though she was clearly using a chinese-to-english translator in our e-mails, all of her responses made sense, were to the point, and very quick. The quality of the dress is a LOT better than I expected and is very comfortable. Overall, it was a very good experience.
Final Grade: B+
Comments: The fact that she doesn't use her own pictures is usually an immediate turn-off for anyone buying on ebay, but since she was the only one who was selling the outfit for Tear Grants on the site, I decided to go with her anyway. Seemed a tad risky, but all-in-all, it was worth it. Her products often come out better looking than the picture itself, from what I've heard from others who have bought from her. For me, it came out just as wonderful. The dress fit perfectly and didn't have cheap or weird-feeling material, which is usually the case from the chinese ebay costume stores (no offense meant in that comment). I definately recommend her to anyone interested in her wares ^_^

Timeline (how long your order took to process): I ordered in May and paid in full and they were delivered in THIS CONDITION in October, three days before Halloween. They were supposed to be delivered in August.

Pros: She allowed me to purchase my own fabric and send it in. And up until she got it the communication was GREAT. We talked via email and on AIM all the time. She is an excellent BSer.

Cons:The photos speak for themselves. Not only was she slow but she told me that she wouldn't ever send out something that she wouldn't wear herself. If this is what SHE wears I am prepared to laugh at her repeatedly in person. Even further, I was out well over $150 between fabric, shipping costs, and "labor" on these costumes. (Note, these were supposed to be express shipped to me an she used regular Priority Mail instead in one of the Tyvek envelopes. Even if they had been wearable they would have been HORRIBLY wrinkled as they were when they arrived anyway!) At the time I ordered them, they were supposed to be a mother and daughter set of dresses for Halloween that year and I saved every last dime to pay for them since my schedule was completely full with other things that didn't give me time to make them myself. We didn't have a lot of money back then so I saved for a couple of months to afford the price she quoted and in May I paid in full. Even further, her note that is photographed as well is a prime example of her opinion of her customers. She knew that I could sew and as such sent the costume unfinished expecting ME to pick up the slack for what she didn't do. Even better, when I asked for a refund I was told that I "got a steal" on these dresses and that what she did was "more than enough" for what I paid. What I got was my money taken, some half-assed at best dresses and one that wasn't even close to done. One last thing though that burns me. She claimed that she owned a serger and that all dresses would be finished as such. As the photos show, this was also just another lie by her.

Comments: It wasn't until much later that I found out that she was using a factory to produce her dresses. When I first found her on ebay she only had a couple of dresses up and claimed that she started sewing them because her husband was terminally ill and she had his kids to support. I later found out that that was bull and that she was having them mass produced out of another country to make a much larger profit. She apparently orders in bulk and all "custom orders" are tried to be shoved off on the factory. A bit of digging proved that the factory has a contract with her that allows her to only get so many designs done at once, which means that those "custom orders" are either done by her (badly at that), or she tries to push for them to be factory produced. This woman is a scammer through and through. Initially she "guaranteed" her work, but that guarantee has come down now because of complaints. My only wish is that ebay would pull her account for this. Her feedback is far from true as she admitted to me when we still talked that she had friends shill auctions for her to give her better feedback. Back then she was at around 40 feedback and now she is well into the hundreds. Buyers, go elsewhere if you don't want your money thrown away. Even the factory produced items are bad quality with cheap fabric.

Final Grade: If there was a grade lower than F I would give it.

Cons: The only thing was the bust was a bit too big and the costume was blue instead of white.
Comments: She's an over-all great person. I love her. I would go back to get her to comission me another peice anytime!

Pros: This is by far the most professionally done costume I have ever owned. My terrible pictures do it NO justice, and they will be updated as soon as possible. Everything from the quality of the fabrics to the assembly has been done with an expert touch; the amazing quality of everything in person is breathtaking. I never had reason to be concerned when working with this commissioner. She is fast, efficient, always in communication, always answering questions immediately and always professional. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone who has ever or will ever want to commission a costume; she should unquestionably be the first choice on anyone's list of sellers, and certainly is on mine.
Cons: Nothing, whatsoever. A first for me :)
Comments: I cannot stress enough how amazing this transaction was. The costume is accurate to the greatest degree physically possible, no shortcuts were taken and there is nothing but the highest quality-everything at work here. She is the first commissioner who has said they will provide progress pictures, and then actually follows through. Her hometown was flooded after I placed my order, and I was still kept up to date and received these TWO amazing costumes within only two months. Simply amazing. With absolutely perfect fit!

Timeline (how long your order took to process) 2 weeks to get to me
Describe your Experience:
Pros: Very nice print on the haori, the black designs and number at the back were printed on/painted on not bits of cloth sewn on and the number written looked clear, neat and professional. Hakama and haori fit well, good quality fabric nice and thick. Hakama was made like a real hakama with a back panel that alot of cheap ones seem to miss. Very impressed with it overall. Decent price. Powerseller from what looks like those chinese mass manufacturing factories with only 1 neg feed and it shows- they seem to use their own pictures (or produce identical items anyway).

Cons: The hem of the shoulder-sleeve bit of haori was just folded and ironed into shape not sewn so it had tendency to unravel silghtly but it was ok when worn. Also white bit peeking out of neck line was missing, though the bits at the sleeves were there. Nothing major.

Final Grade:A- (If the 2 cons were fixed they would be very good)

Pros: She would keep in contact with me almost every day by PM letting

handling and taking care of a wig. Also, she sent me pictures upon my
request and also sent me the wig head to attach the wig to and keep.

Cons: (None that I can think of)

Comments:She really pu's 100+ effort and heart into making any type

Timeline (how long your order took to process)It took a couple of months

Describe your Experience.
Pros: I got progress photos and ended up only paying for the fabric. She was very understanding and was never rude.
Cons: The communication was great at times and pretty poor at times. I got progress photos that looked great and even in the pictures the outfit looks amazing but when put on a human it just fit all wrong. With the measurements I gave the skirt ended up being so small but then the Jacket was huge. She offered to fix it but after a month she sent it back with a check saying she couldn't do it without remaking it. The skirt was made out of a fabric that doesn't pleat at all so she had to top stitch the pleats. She used snaps instead of buttons for a uniform skirt as well so that seemed very cheap, I figured with that kind of skirt it would have buttons. The Jacket looked great but was made for a much larger person because the armholes and the jacket was so baggy that even with an undershirt it was huge. I didn't understand how from the same measurements the skirt was so tight and too small and the jacket was so huge around the waist and well everywhere. It fit really bad.

Comments: Although she was nice I thought she had more skills at making uniforms then what I received. It looked great in the photos but not so great in person. I never got to use the costume as well.

No website that I know of.

Character commissioned and series/video game - I'm not honestly sure. This commissioner's CP.com gallery lists it as Ramune costume, no clue other than that. It looked nifty, was cheap, and figured I'd use it as a cheap way to test her skills.

Timeline - Payment sent Feb 19th, Arrived Mar 27th, far earlier than anticipated. This commissioner was QUICK.

Describe your Experience.
Pros - IMHO, cheap. Though I refer to the cost only. The quality was astounding. This commissioner's communication skills were amazing. Shots sent before it was shipped. Methods and skills used that were so good I didn't even know they existed.
Cons - Only one, but it didn't turn out to be a con. Usually I prefer to do business with folks in the USA. This person is not. Part of the reason I started small (though still a full outfit).
Comments -

This may seem like excessive praise, but this commissioner deserves it. The other review of this commissioner here seems to agree.

A minimal of measurements were asked for. It worried me at first, but I've never owned anything which fit better in my life. Fabric was very high quality. Not a loose thread to be found. Normally I'd be against giving someone an A+ for their work, as it seems like an un-detailed review, but there was nothing wrong with this transaction or this costume, and I'm a freak for details and perfection.

I've already started gathering reference shots for two very detailed costumes and my business will be going here if they are not swamped, and they deserve to be. There is another review of this commissioner on here which I quote as "This is by far the most professionally done costume I have ever owned.". I couldn't agree more.

I'll stop going on now, seriously though. Amazing. My jaw hit the floor.

Sent Payment 27th of February, Arrived March 31st
Pros: Surprisingly, I like the fabric they chose for the main part of the dress. It hangs rather nicely, and I don't even mind the odd black detailing the put along the hem in place of fading to black. I really like the bow at the back (it was constructed amazingly well) and they really touched on all the smaller details. The color, the leg band, the ruffles, even the detailing down the front (which is not seen in the photos). It's even freakishly short, also accurate with the character design, though not something I personally prefer.
I changed the grade from C to B, because I realized I failed to account for how well it was put together. Because of the smaller flaws I didn't really pay attention to the construction because I was simply expecting excellence, and that was definitely received. The main dress part seems like it could have been professionally constructed, and it definitely an excellently done piece. The gloves and leg band are being redone for an additional $10.

Cons: There is almost NO shape to the actual dress; as can be seen in the third picture, the only form which is made is that which the stiffness of the fabric creates. The picture makes the dress appear to be quite obviously stiff and fitted from the waist up, but the reproduction just hangs there, pooching OUT, making it wearer look pregnant. Not something I was going for.
The arm and the leg covers do not fit. The cloves are INSANELY small, as if made for a child, and give an odd "webbed-finger" appearance. The leg cover is fine until the bottom, where it bunches unnaturally; I could not find a way to fix this, as straightening it out would loosen it. I think it might have been made too long.
The ears are cheap and were painful to wear even for the few minutes I was taking photos. They keep no shape or form, and the "tail" accessory which the character wears behind her head wasn't even included.
Add: I'm holding the bow in the second picture because it wasn't attached; it's supposed to safety pin on...right.
While the gloves and leg band are being redone, the only reason this is neccessary is because measurements for those portions were never requested and they simply guessed when constructing them; had they actually asked these be provided, the extra cost would not have been neccessary.
Comments: Over all, a very interesting outfit. Just for general knowledge, this was NOT an eBay auction purchase, but a custom commission.

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: None yet, will be put up

Timeline (how long your order took to process): About a month. She only worked for a day or two.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments. She was really nice and did respond on time, although she sent me pictures for reference in the dark so the colors were really off, and I asked her (And payed for) certain details that I did not recieve. The pants had not ONE line of detail, the hoodie was atrocious. Despite all of the amazing things in her gallery, she didn't even try. She even had me pay extra for special shipping because she got it done late. A huge procrastinator, and I saw her online a lot without answers to my PMs, although I did recieve my costume on time with an extra cost of $15. In short, she doesn't care about any costumes other than her own. I was overcharged.
ADD:: I did ask for the pants to be redone and a $50 refund.. We'll see what happens.

Website/C.com gallery: http://www.chibifiedcosplay.com
Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.): Two skirts - one for my Osaka Summer Uniform from 'Azumanga Daioh' and one for my Enma Ai from 'Jigoku Shoujo' outfit.
Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: (To be updated)
Timeline (how long your order took to process): I ordered and paid in full December with a deadline of May for the skirts to be finished.

Describe your Experience.
Pros: To start with, she was very nice and polite in all her emails and PMs. Very quick with them too, I don't think one of my messages ever went more than 2 days without a reply, if that long. There was a little mix up at the beginning but it was ironed out very quickly. She even sent me fabric samples from the two skirts so I could match colors on trim and such. The contract is also a very nice touch.

Cons: I'm not sure what happened towards the end but it's all fallen apart. Her communication is pretty much non-existent. She's turned to stalling tactics as well. She stated to me that my skirts were almost done and would be shipped out the weekend of April 10th. It's almost two weeks later and I've still not received my skirts. I'm particularly mad at this because everything else is complete and finished besides recieving these two skirts - and THAT could end up with me not being able to wear either costume, since technically that leaves them half-complete.

Update: It's now a full week after my convention. In the end, I made the skirts myself the week before the convention when it became apparent I wouldn't be getting hers. I have had NO communication from Rain Miko since her last PM before April 10th. I am now resorting to PMs daily/emails daily. I don't wish to harass the girl but I DO want my money back, seeing as how I no longer need her skirts at all.

Comments: Really, I gave her the benefit of the doubt previously. She stated she was ill and I fully believed that was causing her to lag in commissions. Now? I think it was a convenient excuse for her to half-ass after she got herself surrounded by more commissions than her time-schedule could handle. At this point, a little over two weeks from the convention, I have no choice but to either find adequate alternate skirts or use the time I WAS going to use to relax to make my own. And this pisses me off a WHOLE lot.

Final Grade: F. STAY. AWAY. It's a VERY good thing she's no longer accepting commissions. Before I was merely worried. Now I'm angry.

Demyx Wig - http://www.chibifiedcosplay.com/demyxwig.htm
Edward Elric Wig - http://www.chibifiedcosplay.com/edelricwig.htm
Edward Elric Costume - No picture yet.

Timeline (how long your order took to process) - 1st order took approximately 2-3 months, from ordering till items were recieved.
2nd order was placed in November and is still ongoing.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments.

1st commission:

Pros: The contract is a nice touch, every communication was fast and courteous, and the quality of the product was excellent for the price, as well. Generally an A grade transaction.

Cons: No big cons.

2nd commission:

Pros: She claims that she will be sending a partial refund with the costume, when it arrives. I may change the grade slightly later on if this happens.

Cons: Communication has been nearly nonexistant, and all of it has been initiated by me. The costume was supposed to be for a convention in mid-March, and it still has not been recieved. She gave no explanation for the delay until I contacted her in mid-February, when the costume was supposed to arrive, when she said the costume was done and she'd tried to send it out weeks before and it got returned to her days after. Despite this, she had not yet tried to resend it. She promised again that she'd ship the costume and wig, but that was nearly two months ago, and I still haven't recieved it. Communication has completely degenerated into nothing. The percentages on her website have completely frozen, and are never updated anymore, so they're completely useless. She says that she is ill, but this illness is obviously affecting her ability to run a business to the point where I'm not sure when I'll be getting the costume. Also, we agreed on a photo update schedule of every other week- I only recieved one progress picture for the wig, when I requested it, and one progress picture of the costume itself, also at my request, as opposed to our contracted schedule.

Final Grade: C+, an average between the A for the first transaction, and the D I'd give her for the second on its own thus far. Unfortunately, this is an excellent commissioner who I was loyal to but won't be commissioning from again, or recommending to anyone else. She's such a sweet girl, I feel so bad, but I feel that this chain of events is completely ridiculous when I've paid for a service and signed a contract. Even if she is ill, it doesn't take that long to give the occassional email update to people whom you have an active contract with.

Edit: I recieved the costume from her (even though I never even recieved a notice that she'd sent it). There was no partial refund as promised for all the trouble. The package was too large for the items, so they shifted a lot during shipping, and the wig needs a few repairs because of that. The costume quality is fine, though she missed a few details that I'd asked for, but the belt she made is simply irrepairable. It's made out of some kind of thick, shiny fabric, and held together only by hot glue, so when I picked it up to inspect it a piece was already falling off, and hot glue strings were all over it.

Because of the continued lack of communication, the mediocre quality of parts of the costume, the lack of attention to detail, and the promise of a partial refund that was never recieved, I'm lowering the grade to a D+.

She's presently shutting down her commission business and won't be taking further commissions, but I figured I'd change my grade in case she ever decided to start taking commissions again.

Timeline (how long your order took to process): Was an auction for a custom-fitted Kadaj costume. Took two weeks to sew and four days to arrive (I paid $10 extra for the quick shipping) after the auction ended.

Pros: Pretty decent communication, though some replies took a few days. I understand she has a normal life outside of making costumes. The sewing is AMAZING, and the details on the front and back of the jacket are just... wow. I was pretty speechless when I got it. So pretty. O_O She actually started working on my costume before the auction ended. ^_^ Also, when you pay for four day shipping, you GET four day shipping. All my measurements were taken into consideration and the jacket fits me perfectly. I can't tell you enough how much I love this costume.

Cons: The inside isn't lined, but I'm pretty sure I would die if it was. Still, the pleather backing irritates my skin and I have to wear a button up long sleeved shirt under the jacket. But this could be blamed on a personal issue. When zipped all the way up, the collar is a little too high and makes it uncomfortable, but I never wear the costume that way (unless I'd dress as Yazoo). The snap on the right shoulder likes to come undone, but the rest of the snaps stay in place and doesn't bother it too much. Also, the wrist pieces are made of wood circles covered in pleather. This makes them AMAZINGLY accurate (to me at least) for the way they appear. Unfortunately, the cosplayer needs to take care because they are at risk for breaking.

Comments: She's my wonderful little secret. ^_^

Final Grade: A+

Timeline (how long your order took to process): I sent the first e-mail on Jan. 11th, and received the costume today (full costume minus boots). So almost exactly 3 months.

Pros: Unreal. That's all I can really say. The communication was top notch...anytime I needed to ask them anything, it was either answered within a day, or less. The sewing is amazing...it's scary how realistic the jacket looks on my in terms to accuracy. I mean it has the same neck line as the characters...the shoulders, arms, and waist all hug my body like his...I mean it's amazing. The wig is perfect.

Cons: Um...the only con would have to be the fact it took me about an hour to un-wrap the chakrams...but I'd rather it be that way, as they arrived in perfect condition.

Comments: They are a very passionate, and highly skilled costume makers. They made sure it was here by when I needed it (this weekend) by using faster shipping. Very nice to talk with. Just great people...I couldn't be happier!

Character commissioned and series/video game: Haruno Sakura's first outfit (red dress with sleeves)
Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: They were lost when my comp was wiped, sorry.
Timeline: About 3 weeks
Describe your Experience: Pros: While I didn't exchange many emails with her, the ones I did send were responded to in a timely and kind manner. The costume was wonderfully made, I've worn it many times last year and plan to re-use it again this year.

Cons: It's made out of a shiny material that's really hot. But I guess that's just me being picky. ;3 Also, this seller seems to be a hit and miss kind of person. Although MY transaction had no problems, I've heard stories that people have gotten their costumes too large or small, or it was not what they ordered.

I am currently waiting on another commission from her, Mew Ichigo from Tokyo Mew Mew. I'll post another review when the costume arrives.

Timeline : 3-4 days
Describe your Experience :
Pros : The whole experience was insanely fast (while the site said it may take a while for one to get their invoice, I had it in my inbox within two hours), and very cost-efficient. The website is rather easy to stumble about in, and I managed to find what I was looking for with little to no difficulty. The product is exactly as it is pictured, and is rather sturdy. I ordered these on Tuesday night and just received them today (along with a little pack of milk candies~! Yay, I love these things!). Just a wonderful experience through this buyer. I plan on hopefully purchasing a whole costume through the buyer in the somewhat near future, and will hopefully write another review when that does happen.

Cons : I honestly can't come up with anything.

Timeline: I paid around april 5th, and received it today (April 16th), so VERY fast!
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments: I ordered some ninja shoes from naruto from them awhile ago, and though it took a long time to get them (they got lost in the mail, and then had someone send me a pair from in the united states), I decided to order from them again. The shipping was very fast, but that was the only thing I was really SUPER-pleased with. The costume is fairly big, much bigger than the measurements I gave them. The neckline on Matsumoto's outfit needs to be able to come lower/be more open than the other shinigami, but they made no effort to make it do that, it's just a generic shinigami outfit, and the way it's constructed, I won't be able to have it open at all unless I use tape & do some sewing on it myself. The sash, which is supposed to be a pink or peach-ish color, is BRIGHT red. The shoes already kind of feel like they're going to fall apart, but maybe that's just my paranoia. A bunch of hay or whatever material they're made out of (lol) DID fall off all around my room while I was just trying to put them on. There seemed to be a lot of loose threads in the costume. Though, it is very comfortable, and it seems to be a good-quality material.

This, I'm actually not very sure about, since we had agreed to actually deliver the gourd *at* the convention.

Pros: Altogether, it was a very accurate piece. I was elated when it was finally delivered, and had even worn it around the convention without my costume on. The details were airbrushed on, at it was made very lightweight and fairly durable. It also had a consistent shape and paint job, and I feel confident when I say that it was the *best* gourd at the convention.

Cons: While it was very durable, the fact that I am a very fidgety, run around person (and everyone and their grandmother felt the need to slap it) the gourd broke in the middle.

HOWEVER, Troy was more than happy to take it right back and fix it up, and while I have long since retired my Gaara costume, the gourd still sits in quite good condition in my room.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments: I'm overall satisfied. =3 I was quite frightened that the person was a scammer as they're fairly new to ebay *at least when I bought* and only a couple of days after I ordered, they got negative feedback. However, it came in a good time and it was undamaged *tho' the packaging wasn't in a box like featured, but in a slip that featured PENELO FROM FFXII not, Yuna from FFX-2*. The bell attached to it seems fairly crooked and not aligned with the V-shape of the pendant and the chain is a bit unsturdy, but fixable it it snaps off. In my defense I'd like to add that when I lost my house due to the fire it took me a month or so to get a place I could hook the net up to! I replied to your message as soon as I could!
Everything was so crazy from the fire I couldn't get back to you till so much later. I think your being a bit unfair to say I could have responded sooner. I couldn't! I didn't even have a place to live! The house's roof was going to collapse and I wasn't allowed to stay there so I was staying at family and friends houses. I wasn't really thinking about due dates and whatnot. I lost so much stuff...photo albums my art works...clothing. There was only a tiny bit left. I think its kind of unfair to even review me as this situation is just so horrible! :( I've done commissions before that went perfectly. btw

And I do intend on paying you back, I wish there was something I could give you. I don't even have money for food! We're barely covering rent.
I know you deserve to be paid back, as I told you before. So there is no reason to go giving me a bad review. Its not like I did it on purpose :( I did the best I could given the situation. I contacted you when I could. I think a lot of people in my situation wouldn't even have got back to you at all...because really, their screwed. >_< I'm trying on this end. I really am! I'm trying to sell what is left to pay you back, trying to win contests.
I had another commissioner along with you that just let it go, which is the sweetest thing ever. I'm actually trying to force her into taking some anime or something lol.

Again, I'm sorry...I'm really REALLY sorry and I'm doing the best that I possibly can on my end. :(
I wish you would have just kept this between us...no reason to give me a bad review when I'm trying so hard to get everything back together.

Timeline (how long your order took to process):
Contacted and paid in November of 2006 with a deadline of April 1st. Was in contact a few times between then. I contacted her the day before the deadline and was told that it would not be complete. Asked if she could complete it by mid June, but was informed that she could not.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments.
This is a very crappy situation for both myself and the commissioner and I was hesitant to even leave a review, but feel that others should know about my experience. I contacted her in November and worked out all the details. After a few months, I contacted her again for an update and she told me that she had gotten into a bad car accident and was still finishing up some other props. I asked if she would still be able to do my prop and was reassured that she could meet my deadline. Apparently, about 2 weeks or so before the deadline of my item, there was a fire in her apartment complex which caused a bunch of water/smoke damage to her apartment, including to the materials she was going to use to make my item. Now, I'm a pretty understanding person, but was a bit upset that she didn't tell me any of this until the day before I should have received my item and that she hadn't even started construction on it even though the due date was so close. I was also the one that had to contact her to get this info, when I feel it would have been courteous for her to give me a heads up. Given that there was no way I'd have the prop before the con I needed it for, I asked if she could complete it if I gave her an extension till June, but she said she couldn't as she can't afford to rebuy the stuff to make it in enough time to finish it. She did offer to send my some anime/video games/wigs in order to make up for the whole mess and has been very nice about everything. However, I don't really need any of the things she offered and did request a refund. She agreed that I deserved a refund, but doesn't have any money to pay me back with. So basically, I'm stuck waiting around until she's able to pay me back. (though if she doesn't - I know that I can get it back through my credit card company, I would just prefer not to exercise that option). Just a really crappy experience all around, both for me and for her.

Final Grade: really hard to give a grade for this given the circumstances, but as I didn't get my item and found out I wouldn't get it the day before it was supposed to arrive when in reality she could have given me more notice, D

Timeline: It took a little longer then expected... The payment was finalized March 1st, and I received the costume March 28th.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments: First of all, when I looked at the auction page, I thought, "Hey, those are my measurements! I don't need anything adjusted~", so I purchased the costume with said measurements. Turns out that, though I thought it would be my size, it was seriously... waaaaay too big! Dx The vest, when not worn with the belt, came down to my knees, the tunic itself was a few inches above my knees, and the pants were just... ginormous. The smallest setting on the belt was also too big. When I first tried on the costume, it was as though I were swimming in a pool of fabric. xD High quality stuff, don't get me wrong, but there was just a lot of it. x.x So, I ended up picking in almost all parts of this costume. I couldn't wear the pants when I wore it to the convention, however, because it was obvious that they were baggy on me. (Ended up buying tights and modifying them~ ^^)

Second of all, when I finalized the payment, I paid for EMS shipping... Seeing as how the convention was the first weekend in April. When the costume itself took longer then expected, I received an e-mail telling me an estimate of when I should be receiving the costume... An extra 7-10 days. I was like, "Whaaaat? D:". They told me I could pay an extra $20 for EMS shipping, but... I already paid for it, y'know? x.x So I sent them my receipt of the final payment, then they apologized for the mistake and sent my package EMS.

The sizing and the shipping thing were the only cons, really. The costume itself is awesome. As I stated before, excellent fabric choices~ ^^ Also, they sent me an e-mail when the costume was done, and also sent me photographs of my costume before it was sent out. Not to mention, my e-mails were answered within a few hours at the latest, so communication was definitely not an issue~ ^^

I'd order from them again, although I'd make sure to get the size smaller then before~ x.x

Timeline (how long your order took to process):

A little over a month, maybe? I'm not quite sure. Or maybe it was about a month and a half. <~ Don't be put off by that though!! Read my comment about the time in my "comments" part!

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments:

Pros--
She was really nice talking to her through PMs and on IM, also. Misary has a contract that seems pretty fair, to me, in my opinion. She's a nice person overall to do business with. I got my costume very well done so she's not a scammer or anything. :)
I made a half a big list of requests and she okay-ed them all. It seems that she has over 10 years of experience with making things and she's young too! She's pretty talented =D

Cons--

I don't think it could be considered important cons but.... She replies kind of slow when you talk to her in IM but PM, I think, she is going to be on cosplay.com more often than when I worked with her so she'll reply faster through PMs. That's not that much of a big deal, really.
The costume was only a TINY bit looser than it should be but I think it was because I didn't make it really clear on one of the requests that I want for the costume so it's okay ^_^;;

Comments-- Yes! Misarylane is a great person for business or just to talk to! The costume turned out wonderfully!

On the costume itself: Actually, I couldn't decide on the options of fabric that seems to be good for the dress itself so I told her to help me pick the best one. (She picked poplin fabric). It turned out beautifully!!! So that means that she has great judgment when it comes to this kind of stuff. =D But, then again, she does have many years of experience AND she did a few of my costume before.. Heh ^_^;;

On the timeline it took:
She had a much more important matter to deal with at the time and I had more than enough time for her to make it so it was more than understandable for her matter. I'm not quite sure if I'm able to reveal what was the important matter but I think you could ask her yourself. ^_^;;

Overall:
GREAT person to work with! I highly recommend her like crazy! I would be honored to go to her again when I need something else to be made. xD

Final Grade: A+

Timeline (how long your order took to process): First contacted her Feb 2. Got it in the mail May 7
Pros: She's a very nice person. When I emailed her she would always respond within 24 hours, if not sooner. She even made the flowers Yuna holds for me too and threw in a pair of free white gloves that I'll be using for my costume. I would and probably will for sure go back to her. She is a lovely and wonderful person and it was a pleasure doing business with her =]
Cons: none.

Pros: She's a super-awesome fun person to talk too. Since I lived about an hour away from her she invited me to come to her house to try on the dress a couple times before she finished it. She was really nice in waiting for me since I got lost on the way to her house twice, and didn't arrive until 4-5 hours after I told her I would be at her house. She always PM'ed me really quick, and she's just a great overall person that I would go back too again!

Payment sent around the beginning of April, arrived May 12th
Pros: Another brilliantly constructed commission :) The details she touched upon are stunning; the symbols on the front and back are both excquisitely accurate, the gloves alone are quite possibly the most amazing cosplay-accessory I own, the material is thick and very, very high quality, everything is simply beautiful. It feels proffessionally made, almost manufactured but at a far higher level, and everything from the proportions to the colors are EXACTLY true to character.
Cons: A few problems this time which I didn't have last time with this commissioner. The dress itself seems almost two sizes too large; the pictures show how it looks with three safety pins holding it together in the back, which is why there are no views from behind, but it's pretty clear the neckline and sleeves are slightly too large. I'm not sure where the misinterpretation here came from since the same measurements from my last order with this commissioner were used, and that one fit perfectly. The hat is also the wrong shape, but fits perfect. The white strip down the back of the dress, according to the reference images, is supposed to go all the way up the length of the back, but the dress I was provided has the blue making an arch over the white--the only detail she missed.
Comments: She has excellent communication, far better than anyone I've ever worked with, and works amazingly fast considering her popularity. I find myself wishing to elaborate on how absolutely excellent the gloves turned out; I could not possibly be happier with them or the dress itself, really, though it would be nice if it was fitted better. This is quite likely an effect of commissioning over the internet rather than in person, however, so hardly the true fault of the commissioner; only so much accuracy can be expected from a dress form. There is no physically possible way to emphasize the quality of this outfit, and I recommend her to anyone and everyone with the utmost confidence.

Payment sent April 10th, Received May 21st
Pros: Amazingly fantastic. I had concern about the color and the size which I shared with her, because there is an official release of this character in plushie form already but even the manufacturer had inaccurate coloring and size. The faux-fur-fabric she chose was stunningly perfect; I cannot emphasize this enough, I did not know such a close relation in color and texture to the actual character existed. Construction-wise, it is absolutely beautiful. Everthing is expertly done, you'd swear THIS was the official release of the bird rather than what is on the website. He's super-soft and she even took pains to weigh the bottom portion with plushie-beads (the rest of him is pure fluff) so he remains upright.
Cons: He loses his shape rather easily, but this is simple to overcome through simple attentiveness; he's like fluffy playdoh!
Comments: I got the impression that I was her first custom-order, and I cannot possibly illustrate how wonderful she was to work with. She kept in constant communication, was professional and at the same time kind and flexible with my concerns; even going back after he was completed a first time to make some changes I asked for! There was NO period of waiting for her responses, and NEVER a time I was uncomfortable or uncertain about working with her. I highly, HIGHLY recommend her to everyone or anyone with a plushie concern, no matter how big or small. She DOES accept custom work, and I know of no one better to trust with plushie commissions.

Character: Wig of Franziska von Karma/Karuma, Mei (Phoenix Wright 2/Gyakuten Saiban 2)

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: Haven't even gotten a progress shot...

Timeline (how long your order took to process): I first inquired around early/middle of Feb 2007. It took a while, and finally ordered, paid and signed contract around the last week of Feb 2007. Wig was due May 20th. I have gotten nothing yet. And May 25th is the date of the con I was supposed to wear this wig to.

(The reason why it took so long for me to pay and sign the contract was because she would answer her emails around once a week, and I had to actually ask for her PayPal address so I could pay her as well as the contract.)

Pros: Website was clean, looked professional, even had a contract.

Cons: Deadline missed completely. I do not try and bother my commissioners because I know they have work, college, a life, etc. I did not contact this commissioner until after sending the payment and contract signed back to her. Then on May 12, figuring the time was right to ask for a progress shot. No reply. I emailed once more on the 18th, and again on the 20th, asking civilly if the wig was done, that I request it be airmailed to me as said in the contract when the wig was not done on time or such. I have still received no reply, and I fear I will not be able to wear the wig and costume to the Fanime Con on May 25th. I am still awaiting a reply. I understand that life gets people down, but how long does it take to shoot an email back, especially with a contract?

Communication has been nil since I have paid. I am trying my best to contact her now, but I have received nothing.

Final Grade: D (I may or may not change the grade depending on if/when I get the wig.)

For now this is a tentative review, but I feel it is fair to let others know both good and bad sides of commissioners.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments.: The costume is great and fits nicely the only problem is that the costume arrived too late. Though i ordered the costume about a month early and asked them how long it'll take and they said about 10 days. I also had a hard time communicating with them too and sometimes i wouldn't like how they would respond to me. They would always give me confirm dates about 2-3 times when they should arrived but never did.
Even though they seem like promising people they really don't keep track on getting the costumes to you on time for quite a while. On top of that they gave me the wrong costume.......
i would not really recommand them for ordering costumes when a con is near on the date. ^^ There might be some issues along the way too.

I have ^^ Quite successfully. I do not have pictures of the wig itself because the costume has been put on hold, and I do not want to risk damage to the wig while in storage; it's never been removed from its netting and bag.
But! What I purchased was a pink version of THIS (http://cgi.ebay.com/2-clip-on-BLACK-PONYTAILS-wig-RARE-new-cosplay-costume_W0QQitemZ160119389936QQihZ006QQcategoryZ60 188QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
And can attest that the prices they offer are EXCELLENT, the shipping time is quite respectable and the quality seems very, very nice; it's spent about three or four months being rolled around in its bag so far, and not a sign of fuzziness or tangling.

Like everything, you do have to determine what would be worth paying for and what wouldn't. I can attest their pictures are their own, not lifted, but would not recommend this Sora wig (http://cgi.ebay.com/SORA-Kingdom-Hearts-spiky-brown-cosplay-wig-new-RARE_W0QQitemZ160118559899QQihZ006QQcategoryZ60188 QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) to anyone, while I strongly stand by the extensions and short hair styles they offer in accordance to my own experience ^^

Actually, I have, but I didn't post it here because it wasn't really a commission. Might as well, since you asked.

I bought two wigs from them, one was a rare light blue color and the other was a curly blonde wig. I only have the curly one pictured: http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=876935 (You can see the frizz in the pic)

Pros: Both are extremely rare styles so I was really happy to get them.

Cons: When brushing the blue wig a lot of fibers would fall off. As for the curly wig, the style was slightly smooshed they way the packaged it. The curls became really frizzy after just one wear.

Comments: All in all, stay away from "pre-styled" wigs. Chinese sellers tend to spend as little as possible on packaging so you may end with a ruined wig.

Grade: B. These things tend to be a hit or miss.

Character Commissioned: Byakko from Yami no Matsuei
Timeline: A little under 2 months. It was shipped on the 23th and arrived today on the 29th.
Pictures of you in the costume: I will post this when I get it in the mail and try it on for the first time. <3333

Pros: This was probably the MOST professional commission I have ever asked for. :3 I must admit though, I am not one for patience though he/she had patience with me. <3 She was a bit slow with email, but then again, she's half a world away. She took every measurement and took my input into everything and even when I had her change the sleeves, she did. She has been super helpful and the best comissioner I could have ever gone to.
EDIT: Everything came today [May 29th] 2 weeks ahead of my deadline since I did ask for it to be upped. Everything also came to me very professionally shipped and wrapped each part of the costume individually and ironed it.
Cons: I only have a few.
1. It's too tight around the arm. WAY too tight. It's hard to move, but it's just going to be that way until I break it in and the thread gets moved around and I get more comfortable.
2. Too tight around the neck. It's nearly choking me. ^^;;
3. Tight across the back. But that is EASILY fixable and will move and settle once I break it in more.
I can't really find any that weren't my fault do to a misunderstanding on my behalf. XD

Comments: I have been looking at pictures of my comission since they were availiable, and I absolutely love it. Thanks again, sweetie! You rock! I will comission from you again!!
EDIT: YOU ROCK! You're the first comissioner I have ever had that ACTUALLY made it so the pants weren't tight across my thighs and front. <3

Final Grade: A+. I can overlook minor issues because they're... well.. Minor and they don't take away from the overall beauty and craftsmanship of this costume. <3

I've purchased 4 wigs from this seller and have been very pleased with all of them. Also, they get an A+ for shipping too. I've never had one arrive any later than 11 days after my purchase. Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: None yet, I'll update when I get it.
Timeline: I paid her on Feb. 26th, and my deadline was May 15th.
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments: Extremely disappointed with this transaction. I chose her because while her prices were a bit high, I'd heard such great things about her, and her quality was superb. I was very excited about having my costume done by her. Rarely heard from her through email. She missed my deadline completely, and didn't even contact me about it. I understand that people go through difficult times, and I totally understand that, but it would just be common courtesty if you're trying to catch up on things, maybe email the person who is paying you $250 to at least tell them that. I had to track HER down and comment in her livejournal two days after my deadline just to find out what was going on. She told me she was a week behind on everything. She then sent me a picture of the fabric about two days later. Now, a week after my deadline, and she isn't responding to email. I'm extremely disappointed with this whole thing. I thought that with her repuation she'd be very professional, but she is instead very irresponsible and not very considerate of other people at all. You know, I read through her livejournal, and while it's nice that lately she's been working on a book and all...it seems she's a bit more preoccupied with tutorials and writing chapters for her book than she is, uh, hmm, finishing commissions by due dates.
Final Grade: D, for now. Will change to an F if I don't recieve the costume by my convention.

Characters: Franziska von Karma (Phoenix Wright 2) & Kunoichi (Samurai Warriors)

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: I don't have them. Probably later. Later than I need it by. -_-

Timeline: For Kunoichi, I ordered somewhere in Fall or Winter 06. I was stupid and never sent her measurements, however I did pay for half of it on Oct 9th, as her policy is you pay her half upfront, then half when it is finished.

Franziska's half was paid for on Feb 20th, same time I sent measurement info and such.

Due date was May 20th. Today is May 24th. Fanime, the next con I'm going to, is tomorrow.

Pros: Nice in emails, awesome gallery, has a very good reputation. Did email me occasionally before the due date for specific details. Very detail oriented and I liked that she caught things I didn't. Besides, I often shot her emails and she shot some back, about little details of the costume, what I wanted, if it was possible.

Cons: Again, this is where it goes downhill. Communication was pretty good, but she takes a while to answer emails. She is a busy lady, I understand. But. Due date was missed completely. If she had told me before this, then I would have breathed a little easier. After all, my next con is Fanime, May 25th. I was supposed to get progress shots in the beginning April, but they never came. I didn't mind, since after all, the due date was a month away. And I read her public livejournal that she was behind. Alright. Still time to catch up, and my date was a month away. Nothing to worry about, right?

A month comes and goes, and I'm starting to get worried. It's the beginning of May and she asks me a few questions about some more details. I send them back. I get progress shots of Franziska on May 17th. Cool. I mean, Fanime's on May 25th. Still plenty of time to finish up whatever she needs to do and send me the costumes, right? Oh wait... what about Kunoichi?

Turns out she hadn't even started or it sounded like she didn't. After all, why send me pictures of Franziska and not Kunoichi? Well, whatever the reason was, the point was that Kunoichi progress shots were not sent. I was worried. It was May 16th. :3 She emailed again on May 18th, wtih some more progress shots of Franziska and to ask me my opinion on the material for Kunoichi's black fabric mesh, and I emailed back on the same day (May 18th).

I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt of keeping on time. After all, I still had a few days left, right? Right?

May 20th (Sunday) came and gone. I was paranoid. I emailed her to send me the costumes ASAP, on May 21st (Monday). I emailed her that day, (12:37am) to tell her that my con date was approaching fast and the last day I could have it in my hands was May 24th (today) and asking her to overnight mail the costumes, hoping they were finished. She emailed me back the next day (May 22), however, responding to the previous email about Kunoichi (the email sent on May 18th) and saying she needed my foot size asap. Fine. Shot her that once I got the email.

Again, I assumed she had already read the email I sent her on Monday. So I prayed she was sending me my costumes soon.

It's Thursday afternoon, after mail collecting so I'm pretty sure I'm not getting the costumes today. Since I have a final tomorrow, I won't make it to Fanime until the afternoon. I'm deciding to stay to wait and see if she airmailed the costumes today, and not get to Fanime Day 1 until it's nighttime.

I emailed her again asking whether she sent it or not, and I even paid her the last half for the costumes. I just want to know if she sent it or not so I don't have to wait around for NOTHING and not have to skip out on the Friday of the con.

I wanted my first commissioned cosplays to be top quality, and she made such beautiful props, I had to get a costume from her, even if she were pricy. At times, I wish she answered her email faster, but I know how busy she can be. But at times like this, when my deadline is missed, I've paid her full price giving her the benefit of the doubt hoping she airmailed my costumes.

I would like an email at least telling me, "No I won't make it on time" or "Yes I've shipped it but you won't get it until _____" at least. I'm very disappointed and paranoid, because now I'm still hoping. I just want a definite answer so I don't waste my time anymore.

Final Grade: F. Because of her, I am missing part of a con (unless she emails me back telling me she express overnight mailed it yesterday which I doubt; if she mailed it today with the requested mailing, I'll still be getting it Friday AFTERNOON). Cosplaying is my favorite part of a con. So I'll sacrifice part of a day to see if she sent the costumes the way I asked. At first, I thought she'd make it on time. But now, even if the costume came tomorrow, there's no point. She missed her deadline, and it would be nice if she would answer her emails more, especially with customers with missed deadlines.

So it's not only me, eh? :\ She needs to get her shit straight. She's more worried about her book than she is about finishing commissions on time -_-

As bad as this sounds, I'd probably commission her, like, OVER HALF A YEAR IN ADVANCE. I still want a commission from her.

>>; However, with this, I'd probably ask for a discount or something. Which probably won't happen.

It seams like alot of poeple try and do commissions. But they get in over their heads. N most have the quit. Also most from hearing dont either give you the costume and take your money and run.

I used to make shoes for cosplayers. But people were asking me to make them for almost nothing. & an average easy pair like Narutos shoes are like 50.00. Mostly cause I make them form fitting.

Now I just make stuff that fits me & sometimes use it for cons or sell it.

Not sure if these people were brought up. (I have trouble making some times still haha) I used Broken Sunglasses aka Elfester. They stole 300.00 from me and my costume It was going to have LED put lights in it. So 300.00 later. I asked where the costume was. PLEASe send progress photos! They said they need 300.00 more. I said no. WE had a set agreement. I saved all the Emails and everything. I was taking them to small claims court. & then they disspared off the face of the earth.

BEWARE OF this seller
Sunrise Art LLC aka wei-linden
Do not trust this Ebay seller.
I bought a costume SD doll costume. & for some reason I got wtf i have no idea. But it was for a person. Not a doll.
I ordered this http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Designed-...QQcmdZViewItem. & some how got somthing shes not even selling on the site.

ALSO they out source. The person is located in the UAS. But all the costumes are made in china. & another sick fact i just noticed. They are one of those Ebay uses that gets friends to buy their items. But they dont pay or really get the item. They are only doing it for postive feed back. & to get a high feed back number. I thought they were a good seller. I even looked over all the feed back. What people bought. & their stuff looks well made.

(on this issue. We finally worked it out. I'm getting a full refund.)

Another friend of mine had also orded from them. & had the same problem.
She had a HUGE stress attack and we had to take her to the hospital.

On Setsuna. Ya i had order a Rei plug suit & Macross costume from her back in 1999. I even sent fabric along with it. Some how everything was made out of Velvet n some weird lycra. I was so upset. I normaly make my own costumes. But at the time making body suit costumes was hard.
My poor friend Rai also got a costume from her. & we couldnt figure out how to even put it on. It was to small in places. & way to big in places. N she used some ugly fabric n color. Not even close to the photo.
& poor rai rai again had alot of troulbe with this person.

BlackCerenity custom cosplay costume. She too wanted a Rei plug suit but also wanted to be Shiva for 10. The Rei costumes was dirty. It looked like they just took old white tights n used that. Cause you could see the black foot spots on the tights at the feet. The costume didnt fit n anyways. They took aparty tenny shoes for the shoes on the bottom. The gloves were also dirty. & for some reason the pack thing was made out of a back pack. I wont even go into the detail how bad the Shiva cosplay was. She did get a full refund though.
She has now quit cosplay all together. I tried to teach her how to sew. But she is so hurt by people. she thinks almost every cosplayer should be killed. (also meet alot of bad cosplayers in person at cons. Not bad costumes. Just really rude or mean people. Her first skit someone triped her back stage and her costume riped. They didnt even say sorry. They just said move it your in my way of getting first place. This was at A-kon14.)

This person has pissed me off the most. & quite a few others
Dark Dragonfly
I'm so mad that this person never got cought at all. 8 people set small claims court on her. Even I did. I even flew to FL (I get free airfair) and went to her address. I meet with her sister. & her family were like we dont know her. Shes dead to us. & i was pushed out. It was VERY CREEPY AND WEIRD.

Website/C.com gallery: www.chibifiedcosplay.com (http://www.chibifiedcosplay.com)
Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.): Curse Seal LV2 Sasuke (Naruto) - wig only
Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: None
Timeline (how long your order took to process): First payment sent/received in October with a deadline of mid-May (she put it at May 16).

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments.: This was the first thing I ever commissioned as I was afraid to attempt the wig on my own. Initailly, everything started out good. Communication was good, and because I know I don't like to be bothered left and right while I'm working on things, I opted not to ask her for progress shots or email often asking about it. Now, I wish I had.

Last email I received was dated 4/2/2007: "Just to let you know, I got your final payment in! And I just got my camera back today (I left it at a friends house and it had to be shipped back). So you should be receiving pictures shortly." The final payment was the last $40 for labour & shipping.

Those pictures never came (hence why I have none). And as it's now May 24th, it's safe to say that the deadline was missed completely. In the initial email, I made it a point to say "mid-May of 2007 (in time for A-Kon, June 1-3) ".

Yes, I understand there's issues in everyone's lives. However, is it REALLY that hard to shoot someone a quick email to say "Just letting you know I'm running late with commissions" or "Shipped piece out on X date, should be received within X days"?

I sent an email on May 22, asking about the status of the piece and haven't heard back. Actually, I've heard nothing at all since that last email from her on April 2.

Considering that this was my first commission, I'm relatively distrustful by nature, and I scraped to get the money together to have it done ($168 is a school loan payment for me), it makes me really leery of commissioning things in the future.

Final Grade: D. Depending on whether or not I receive the piece, this is subject to change.

Unfortunately, she hasn't said a word to me since April 12th exactly. She has not been answering emails, PM's, nothing.

It took me threatening legal action and blacklisting her on every cosplay site I'm on to get my costume out of her, and then what I got wasn't even really worth what I'd paid for it. She seems to be finishing off her commissioning career with a bang, even though it's not a GOOD bang. I hope she never plans to start an internet based business again, because that's three people in this thread alone that she's left without.

I feel glad I even got my costume, even if it wasn't up to the cost standard and didn't include the partial refund she promised for all the trouble. I feel really bad for you guys who didn't even get them. Maybe you should do what I did and start with the threatening, it seems to be the only thing that'll get her attention.

I might just have to.
I send her an email every few days, as well as a PM, asking for my money back. I've since made skirts for the outfits so she can take hers and shove them in various places, if you get what I mean.
I've considered tracking down her real name again and getting her phone number to give her a pleasant little call over it. I don't belong to any other cosplay forums, though I suppose I could buzz my way through the LJ cosplaying communities on it.
Ugh, it almost makes me want to never commission again. And I had SO many outfits I was thinking up that I wanted to at least get bits of them commissioned. :P

While knowing that others are having the same issue makes me feel a little better (not the best choice of words, but knowing others have the same problem with someone tells me that the problem isn't with me but with the other person), it's irritating to think that someone can just take someone's hard-earned cash and not deliver.

Only assurances are that I do have a backup wig I can use, and should I choose to get vengeful, I made sure to keep every correspondence with her. -_- First my PS2, mod chip, and a game, and now this. Yeah, my faith in people isn't looking too good.

I'm glad you did. I have one email from her, a few PM's and that's it. Dumb me didn't think to make a copy of the contract she sent nor to keep any of the letters she sent (she sent fabric samples of the skirts early on, so I could match colors for the tops).
That's what I get for being trusting though, I suppose. Next commission I go through with, I'm keeping copies and scans of EVERYTHING I possibly can.

Don't let it get you down. For the one commissioner on this site who lets you down, there are two or three others who will do a decent job and do it in a timely fashion. I play to commission again, and this time I made sure to pick carefully off this very thread. (I'm a beginner at this sewing thing, 2 full costumes before August isn't gonna happen, one is pushing it! :toothy: )

But the fact that you kept ALL the correspondance with her is a VERY good thing. If you still have your copy of the money order or a check record, even better. Use threats of legal action if you have to, you have the grounds to do so. She shouldn't be allowed to steal peoples' money like this, it's disgraceful and gives commissioners more of a bad rep.

(I love you, all you good commissioners out there! And I'm presently looking for one of you for a Gojyo costume for August, someone who WON'T rip me off and miss deadlines, heh! :angel2: )

Don't think like that...trust me. The first time I ever commissioned i got ripped of 300 bucks...it happens sometime, but what can you do.

Hence why this thread is here. And again, I'm pushing for a sticky on it, as it is very useful (much more useful then the "Commissioners Not to go to" thread). The fact that it could save people hundreds of dollars alone justifies the cause.

yeah if you still have a stub off a money order you can have it tracked(has a tracking number on it). and they have to have it cashed at a bank as far as i know.

this is exactly why i'ma keep my commission lists small. i don't want to take to many people on and get over whelmed. and i hope i never end up on the bad side of this list. =\ almost makes me scared to start my store. but it's coming xD

here is the format just in case you missed it. People are posting each commissioner review in it's own post that way it will be easier to link it on the first page. That would probably help people out the most.

Website/C.com gallery: www.chibifiedcosplay.com

Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.): Axel's Organization XIII coat from Kingdom Hearts II.

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: None, never received anything.

Timeline (how long your order took to process): Contract was initiated with payment on September 7/06...it is now May 28/07 and I have nothing. I was supposed to have the coat in hand on April 25/07 (one month before Anime North). So, seven months.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments.:

Pros: Her website was professional looking, and communication was good in the beginning. Her past work looked well done as well.

Cons: Well, the biggest thing I can say here would be the fact that I never received the costume. Or any progress shots of it even though I asked on the contract to be shown pictures every two weeks. Then again, I hardly got any e-mails at all. If I wanted to check up on things, I was the one that always had to initiate contact. Last I heard from her was a few months ago, and even then she just kind of stopped replying to e-mails. I'll admit I've just kind of resigned myself to the fact that the coat isn't going to show up. At least I only ended up paying half ($80) to her.

Final Grade: D

Here's some advice:

Don't commission from shady users here unless you are "able" and "willing" to lose money in the process.

Only commission from proven people, hence why this thread is here. Check the results of the reviews in this thread, and base your decision off of that, as for as much as I can see, the reviews here are spot-on.

Like I said, this might sound kind of crude, but you are spending a good bit of money on these costumes, so why go to an untrusted source? I think you are just giving the wrong people opportunities they don't deserve.

Character commissioned and series/video game: Summoner Yuna from FFX.
Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: http://images.cosplay.com/gallery.php?cat=20286&member=7196
Timeline: I ordered it sometime in July 2004, and got it in October or November around the time that I needed it.
Pros: Very friendly, though there were a lot of cons, the costume looked pretty amazing when I got it out of its packaging.
Cons: When I got my Yuna costume, the design on the skirt was made with some kind of paint that had came off while it was being shipped, so my mom and I had to repaint the lines that had come off. Also, the top was somewhat bigger than I had intended it to be, and the costume didn't fit the way I wanted it to ( which is probably why I really don't like it all that much... ) I also had no idea how to put the top on... It was all... funky, so the way I had it on always felt weird and/or looked weird. :/
Final Grade: D+

I commissioned from her again and hopefully when I get my new costume, it'll be better than my Yuna costume...

The problem is that a lot of commissioners start out good and then go bad, as seen with Rain Miko's reviews. Communication starts out well, they get several glowing reports and then things go downhill.
Also, with some commissioners it's hit-or-miss. Some folks have a great commission, return and have a bad one from ONE commissioner. Other people may go to a great commissioner and end up having a lousy commission.

I agree though, be sure this is money you can afford to lose. Have backup plans as well. If you have specifics, mention them up front - and above all, don't do something you're not comfortable with.

Bad reviews should be a sort of... sign for you to improve. They should be your motivation to do whatever you can to improve yourself above what you are doing. Think of it almost as if you were doing school work. Yes. You'll get bad grades sometimes, but that's life. We figure out what we did wrong and improve and stride for that better grade next time around.

Right?

Timeline (how long your order took to process): sent payment on April 23, 2007 and received costume on May 29, 2007

Pros: cheap price, pretty decent cosplay! i like the fabric used for the shorts and headband. all the measurements were correct. the shorts don't make me look fat. LOL fast communication! they were pretty friendly to me even though i was probably the most annoying customer they've ever had. i changed my measurements a few times and they were okay with it. the vest is a bit inaccurate in fabric and details but i still like it!

Cons: now for my pickiness.. the headband only has the white lines on ONE side. the other side is just black. :| i personally asked to not have a side pouch with my shorts (i already have one) but it came with one anyways. and for some reason, my commission came with a tanktop. i never requested for one. but i did requested for socks.. that did not come. also .. my armwarmer mysteriously turned into two leather gloves, like the ones Tifa wore in Advent Children. ><

Comments: this outfit was a custom commission.

Final Grade: B- <- for my lack of socks and armwarmer. i'm trying to see if i can work something out with human_go for the two items. :/

February 2007 -- Current day
Pros: EXCELLENT contact up until the beginning of May, had progress pictures ready on demand, very easy to work with.
Cons: Seems to have fallen off the face of the earth since the beginning of May.
Comments: I sent her the money around about February, and she kept in constant, consistent contact with me. She showed me progress pictures, asked for input... she was an absolute dream to work with.
Then in May she failed to show up absolutely anywhere. She had 4 (recently, 5 with the addition of a cell phone) means of contacting me and she did absolutely nothing. I found that I was not the only one left in the cold over that course of time, and have remained just about livid up to this point.

See I can't make my own cosplay so I have to look to commissioners for it. Sad yes, but I have no choice. But no matter what I do, ex look at their rep and see their background, I still get screwed.

Don't be too upset, really. I commissioned from Rain Miko once and everything went fine, but the second time it was hell. A little bad luck shouldn't put you off commissioning forever! ^__^ There ARE good commissioners out there, I promise.

1. Some people don't have time to sew, due to schooling or full time jobs.

2. Some commissioners, even a few on this thread, start out very good with very good references and products- and then they drop out from under you suddenly. This has already been pointed out.

And yes, let's do get it back on topic. That's all you had to say, the comments weren't really necessary when she's obviously a bit upset.

Name of Commissioner: Obscured Reality

Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.): Altered Invader Zim costume
Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: Never received the costume.
Timeline (how long your order took to process): Started Feb. 2007
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments.:

In mid-February I commissioned an Invader Zim costume from Obscured Reality. They assured me I would have my costume by Anime Central. We discussed a price quote and I sent my money on via paypal.

Periodically, I asked about my costume and I was told everything was going fine. A week before Anime Central (which was in mid-May) I was told that my costume would not be ready in time. Why? Apparently the main seamstress was having family issues and had to move unexpectedly. When I asked why it wasnít done already the response was that they thought it would be easy enough to do in a week but now with the main seamstress unable to work on it, it would not get finished.

OR then offered to finish the costume up for A-kon (June 1st). They promised again that it would be ready for A-kon. I agreed because I really wanted the costume. After Anime Central I was informed that the main seamstress and the guy in charge of OR had some kind of argument/fight at Anime Central so OR didnít know what was going to happen with my costume. They finally decided they wouldnít be able to get it done for A-kon either and they would refund my money.

When I asked when I would receive my refund, OR told me that they didnít know when because somehow (and they really had no clue why) they had overdrawn $500 while at Anime Central. They assured me they would get my money to me as soon as possible. Somehow, with all of the false promises they have given me so far, I sincerely doubt it.

So, moral of the story is:

DO NOT USE OBSCURED REALITY, THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!

Rabi en Rose, Digi Charat Artbook Version: Full Costume
http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=1112677
http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=1112676
Payment sent February 9th, Received June 4th; three days past deadline
Pros: It's an amazingly confortable outfit, which naturally means at least most of the fitting was very well done. I absolutely adore her solution for the shoes and headband, and as a full piece it was very well done.
Cons: I received about three updates over the course of the four months (was told there would be one every Sunday) we were in contact of a completely different dress; I was later informed, without a photographic update, that it had suffered unrepairable damage and was scrapped to be replaced with another. The second dress, which is the one I received, was far more green than the smooth brown the first had led me to believe I was receiving, though the outfit in accordance to the reference images is also brown.
I asked it to be altered with straps of the same fabric which matched the dress, to avoid support complications, and she instead provided clear plastic straps completely compromising my request that they be there for the sake of proper support (i.e., not having to wear a strapless bra). Though I am of personal belief those look quite tacky with outfits seen up close, the holders sewn into the dress for the straps themselves broke while I was trying it on; so I suppose no straps are going to have to do. The waist was also rather loose and requires a safety pin.
On a similar note, one of the sleeves is already loosening from the rest of the dress, and it has only been worn a grand combination of 10 minutes.
Aside from the questionable construction, the proportions are very odd, but she did an excellent, excellent job working with the ears and the headband, even if the dice-accessory is stained (she mentioned both this and providing me with a discount for my next purchase because of it).
Comments: While my "cons" obviously seem rather harsh, I am still listing Yumeko under the grade of an A because she was extremely professional on more than one level. She required a personally signed contract to which she kept (safe for the lateness). She also mentioned having some personal problems, but did not expound upon them to garner pity or try to use them as excuses; she just did her job which, as a customer, I find highly respectable. I also greatly appreciate that she did not simply give up on the project after the first mishap, or even try to reschedule the timeline, but honestly started from the beginning despite time constraints to fulfill her promise. Very trustworthy and respectable, as both a person and a commissioner.

Timeline (how long your order took to process): about 3 months
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments: The costume fit perfectly and the wig was a lot better than I had expected it. I love the colors used (especially for the wig). I got a lot of positive feedback, a lot of people told me they liked my costume but I think they were dissapointed when they found out I didn't make it. XD
However, the boots were kind of big/baggy (not the foot part, but around the legs) and it looked weird. Also, the brooch that came with it was really plain so I made a new one (but I'm a perfectionist like that :P).

Pros:Very professional, Kept me updated on status; fabric purchase, sewing process, sent progress pics and when purchase was sent.Catered to my special request of sword loop on back of vest. Arrived in good condition.

Cons:Not many.A little hard to get to get a hold of but usually responded within 72 hours. A little tight but still wearable. Will be binding for character so it fits then. A bit tricky to get into with rear zipper, so not 100% accurate but easily tweaked to be so.

Someone was bound to point this out eventually, but "Chibified Cosplay"=Rain Miko. The "link to website" links posted on the reviews of Rain Miko point to chibifiedcosplay.com, the same link the person reviewing "Chibified Cosplay" posted.

As for my own commission experiences, I had two that went reasonably well all around, one where communication was good throughout but the product was bad, and one that started all right but went downhill fast. However, I'm not so sure I should post reviews because:

All of these happened at least three years ago
I didn't take/no longer have photos of the "bad" products (and one of the "good" ones I don't have a picture that I took myself, just what's on the commissioner's site)
Since my transactions, two of the commissioners I dealt with have disappeared from the 'net altogether and one isn't currently taking custom orders (and meanwhile has changed how she takes orders anyway)
I don't wanna reopen any old wounds
Any message I post that has links gets caught in the spam filter

Should I review them anyway?

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item- Can't wear none as yet
Timeline (how long your order took to process)- Paid about 24th March, Recived 7 June
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments:
Pros: Decent material. I had heard nothing but good things from them so I was in good expectation of my comission. Very well packaged and neatly folded and pressed. They line all their trousers and coats, they finish seams neatly and professionally. If I write email they will reply within 24 hours.

Cons: The costume was, way too small. And I'm not sure how it got that way either. I am a decently exprienced dressmaker too (Just I wasn't too keeen on wokring with leather/pvc and also lack of space in my temp housing ment I can't sew till I get a flat anyway) so I doubt I gave too off mesurements. Trousers didn't seem to have in mind the hip is wider then the waist. And the leg was too short anyway. Also the jacket. It was skin tight, without the material having any give in it. I mean that trench coat thingy is meant to be a bit flowy loose, not like a PVC catsuit minus the give.

And the guy who's wearing it is very skinny. Even with that fact the sleeves were wayy too tight too. And a inch or two too short. Also, the big design thingy on front of his trouser panel was some stange shop bought bling type belt buckle, not accurate at all.

Also one strange thing- the middle section of his trench coat (we'll call it that for now) is made of lining material not leather/pvc (whatever it's made of I think its leather look pvc) not too sure why it's like that. Also, the patterned kinna panel of leather on his tummy bit is not there at all. And the straps are not made of leather like they are meant to be, but of cloth. And gloves were non existant, or the silver thingy he has around his wrists. And the shoulder armour plates were made of some padded soft material, not armour like at all. The coat fastening big silver things down the coat was missing too (Which my ref piccys clearly showed.)

Basically I think alot of it goes to not chosing the right material. S/he chose a very stiff leather look PVC, while to me it looks like it is a softer material. (The way it sticks to Sephi's body, the way it flows when it's hit by wind/in pictures, the way it crinkles where its pulled in by a belt etc- And this is with me not ever played the game or watched AC, as this is a present for my OH who loves him, I know nothing of the actual chara so it's not even my expectations but simple observations I made looking at the photos I found and gave to him/her) That's (probably) why it's probably too tight. If it was made of a softer pvc/leather it would have been better and most of these problems would not have risen. And also maybe their strength is in cotton and other soft fabrics as they seem to excel at those designs. (as like with me I really only deal in cotton and soft fabrics, I have never worked with PVC and don't really trust myself to either, but I have sold alot of PVC trenchcoats and tops and whatnot in a store I used to work at so I am aware of types of PVC and leather)

Another thing, no progress photos at all. I would have to pester them through email and on here to get anything. (And that being said I never usualy pester for progress shots, just 2 months of hearing nothing of my costume I paid alot for made me start worrying) I recived a total of 1 progress photo (not ver clear either) In the whole time. Also missed their own set deadline. I don't mind, this costume debutes next year if any, but they should not give deadlines they can't keep. I really wish they gave me more then I would have been able to point some of these bad points out before hand.

Overall: I am very dissapointed with the whole thing. It was quite a bit of money, I wouldn't have minded even paying a bit more if it meant they would use better quality fabric/make it more accurate. This whole matter has stressed me out quite a bit and it's sad, as I was looking forward to it. I have emailed comissioner and I hope we can sort something out.

Final Grade: B- (Negotiating with the comissioner and will psot whn matter is sorted)

That was me :3 And it was definitely a bizarre situation. Both were dresses, made of the same material with the same zipper in the same place and I never updated my measurements in between orders; simply gave over a new project directly after receiving the first without question.
I mentioned that it was too large when I sent a confirmation email, but it was never mentioned in return. A shame, really, since the style of the outfit really doesn't providethe possibility of discreet pinning, but it was still excellently made.
Best of luck, Aoi!

Pros - Did an excellent job. Very accomadating to additional requests. Answered questions promptly and accurately. Knew exactly which measurements were needed and fit to them exactly (wow!) Used good materials for a good interpretation of a rather difficult costume (only one reference thing for the coat.) Good price and made it within my requested timeline.
Cons - Very few I can think of, and none really at fault of the commissioner. Took a little longer than estimated, but they did a good job and were within my timeline. Very nervous about supplying my own measurements, my first commission, but it is extremely well fitted. There were a few small details different, but I'm not competing or anything and am happy with it.

As it turns out, none of those commissioners I dealt with are currently taking orders, though two (one good, one bad) are still online. I still would rather not reopen old wounds, so I won't review the bad one (or even say who it was) even if they do start taking commissions again. The good one, well, not only is not currently taking orders (though she does claim that she will again eventually) but as I mentioned earlier has also changed how she takes orders due to high demand. Therefore, my experience with that person is likely way different that anyone else's was or would be. I guess I'll post a review her in a different post later.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience, I know it won't make you feel much better but I think she's been really sick lately..

Anyway, since I comissioned two wigs off of her I might as well leave my review. ^^

Name of Commissioner: kawaiiwigs

Website/C.com gallery: http://kawaiiwigs.net

Character commissioned and series/video game: A Chii from Chobits wig and a Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura wig.

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: Sakura (http://ai-honey.com/pictures/cosplaycom1.jpg) and Chii (http://ai-honey.com/pictures/cosplaycom2.jpg).

Timeline: December 06 - March 07.

Describe your Experience: I contacted Amanda around December time about a Chii wig. I was delighted to finally find a free comissioner who would have a wig done for by March. I then decided a few weeks later that I wanted a Sakura wig and she said yes and I was ecstatic. Since I paid in January she managed to get both these delightful wigs completed and sent (I also live in the United Kingdom) so that I got them in time a good few days before the convention. I was so pleased and as you can tell they're wonderful wigs.

Pros:
+ Beautifully styled wigs.
+ Good communication. Purhaps a little slow at times, but people don't live by their computer. ^.~
+ Good competitive prices!
+ Lovely genuine person.

Cons:
I honestly can't think of any. xD I'm in the middle of organising a Sailor Moon Wig with her right now. ^^

Would it be at all possible to list what was commissioned from each seller to allow for easier searching? So, if you're just looking for someone to do a wig or a prop, you could figure out much more easily who to go to.

I'm willing to go through the reviews and dig out the info to be added in. This is a fantastic thread -- it really makes me want to save up my money and commission a costume instead of making my own after seeing the cool things people have gotten from the good commissioners. :)

I suppose I should leave somewhat of a Review for this commissioner..

It's actually Amethyst angel

www.amethyst-angel.com

Well, here's the scoop... I began speaking to her about august or so last year about a suit of armor.. Come november we finally made an agreement and I sent her the first half of the money..

I gave her two deadlines.. One in febuary, one in april..

Needless to say, I haven't gotten the item yet.

I saw her work and knew she'd do a great job but I would be tentative to commission her again since she promised the costume in February and it is still not finished. She will not return my emails to keep me updated on progress and I doubt the costume will be finished in time for the large number of summer conventions I had planned to attend. [Yes, I have attempted to contact her numerous times, my last email being three or so weeks ago with no reply.]

I love her work but found her deadlines unreliable and her lack of communication frustrating.. Really, I dont want to slander her, I do really want the item I ordered, I'm very excited about the costume, but at the same time, my last convention for the year is likely to be otakon, and if the lack of communication continues, I am likely not to get the costume before then, leaving me with an obligation to pay the other half of a costume I will not be able to wear until 2008.

Hopefully I wont get slandered for this, but I've been quite upset about it for some time now.

Updated! ^^ Not sure how long I'll be able to keep it in its current form since it's really pushing the 10k character limit already, but hopefully it will last.

Yuki: If you could arrange some sort of grade which accomodates your views of the experience and understanding of the situation, I'd love to update the list with your review. If you're not comfortable with doing such just yet, no worries ^^ Just let me know when you do so I can link appropriately.

I'll be sure to edit or post something when I get some sort of closure to the situation..Whether it be receiving my item, or a refund, or simply giving up altogether and accepting the loss of my money, I'll let you know. Till then that's what I can say.

Name of Commissioner: Julias_Laedchen (Ebay cosplay seller)

Website/C.com gallery: http://stores.ebay.com/julias-laedchen

Character commissioned and series/video game: Alice Elliot from Shadow Hearts (Jacket & Skirt/ Full costume)

Links to picture(s): Full shot (http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r293/sweet_magic_01/mypics004.jpg)

Timeline: Around 2 ½ weeks

Pros: For being a china seller, they responded rather quickly to all my emails and their engrish wasn’t too bad. It arrived at sooner than I thought it would. The overall craftsmanship is top notch and it does look professionally made and not something they rushed out to me.

Cons: The jacket and skirt are rather short, but it’s nothing I can’t fix ( I might have underestimated my measurements that I gave). I wanted the skirt to be short, but not THAT short. XD Also, the color of the costume is kinda off and a lot darker than what I expected to be. Other than that everything is perfect.

Comments: If you’re looking for a commissioner that is relatively cheap, but produces good craftsmanship within such a short period of time, then I would recommend Julias_Laedchen to you.

Cosplay Magic

Character/Series: Dietrich von Lohengrin (Trinity Blood)
Parts: RosenKreuz Orden Armband only

Pictures: Will have them up as soon as I get the rest of the uniform!

Time: Ordered June 15, arrived June 28

Pros: The price. This was off of an eBay auction and I only ended up paying $8 shipped :) The colors are perfect and the design is wonderful! I honestly expected a mass-produced armband with an iron-on design as is typical of ebay. What I got was a hand made, machine embroidered armband. (I was shocked!) They used a nice bright red twill and the embroidery is clean. The colors are just lovely!

Cons: Ever heard the expression "Slow boat from China"? This IS comming from overseas, so be aware that shipping takes a good while. For the armband itself, it's pretty big on me (which'd be good for others since I'm pretty small) but can be easily adjusted. I wish they'd used an interfacing on the armband since it's a little floppy... But it is going to be pinned onto the uniform, so again, not too much of a problem for something this small. Sewing the edges down will probably fix the problem.

EDIT: I've tried the armband on with the rest of the costume and ended up taking the armband apart since it was too large and the floppiness didn't look very good as compared to the rest of the outfit. While it does look fine on the outside, The internal construction is HORRIBLE. Fraying edges, uneaven seams, and the emroidery was not backed properly.

Comments: Overall a decent piece and a great deal for the money :)
However, due to construction problems on such a small accessory, I would NOT reccomend anyone to buy a full costume from them.

Does anyone have any Experience With Fan+Friend (Sometimes written as Fan-Plus-Friend) at http://www.fan-store.net/servlet/StoreFront

I'm pretty sure they have an ebay store too.

Anyway it looks like they have some costumes that I've never seen elsewhere. They're reasonably priced, about what I'd expect. So if anyone has any good or bad experiences with them I'd like to hear it.

Okay... WTF did you know if you type "Fan-Plus-Friend" without the dashes it becomes "LUMBERJACKED!" Try it >_0

Links to picture(s): None...nor will there ever be any.

Timeline: Only took 2 weeks to figure out this scam.

Pros: None.

Cons: Everything. A very slick manipulator.

Comments: They way this conner works, is that she talks with over-seas ebay commissioners before hand, asking them about costumes she wants, then has the users here send their payment to the chinese sellers to pay for her own costumes, therefor, screwing both the buyer, and the real commissioner, and getting her free costumes. Also, her real information is as follows :

Name - Shan Will

Address - Seems I cannot post this, which is total bullshit..so if you want it, PM me.

Hey, no worries...I'll get the last laugh out of this whole experience...I just had to leave a lot of info out of that post and the other post I made in the commissioners not to go to thread in case that person is in fact reading this.

But like I said, don't worry...I'll get the last laugh, and "Blanndy" will get hers :D

Wah, that's awful Asuka! You know, I almost had a Gaara wig commissioned from her. Now that I read yours, I realize I was really close to being scammed. I sent "Blanndy" part of the payment and I was supposed to title it 'Payment for Grizzpear'. I thought that was weird but ignored it. >.> I ended up getting the payment refunded (the reason Blanndy gave me was obviously a lie), so, I don't know, maybe the chinese commisioner figured out Blanndy was scamming me? dlkasj I feel so lucky now. -.-;;;

Asuka BMz, if that is the girl's real information I would take it down.

Even though you were scammed ( and I know that totally sucks) putting up someone's info and name on the internet is dangerous. This girl can have some bad stuff happen to her because of that and (even though highly unlikely) if it gets linked back to you you can be in some seriously trouble. Maybe just put her first name and the city where she lives so people can take caution.

It stays unless it's removed by a mod, as whatever happens is deserved. The address was very easily available to anyone who cared to look, I just make it easier.

And also, if anything "bad" happens to her, odds are it would be done by someone she scammed (AkuseruRokusesu) or myself, as I'm sure we are mostly adults and able to make our own decisions. I will be in that area for Otakon, and if they dare show their face at Otakon, I also know what costumes they will be wearing.

I'm not here to prevent "bad things" from happening to her, hell, I'd prefer that happens. I'm here to let people know the dangers of commissioning from people, and also the dangers of being a scammer. I'm sure you know the saying, "What goes around comes around"...

Well. As far as I know, Blaandy did attend Katsucon. She will be attending Otakon as well and I don't know about you, but I don't miss a face.

This is a wake up call to bad commissioners. The people who are asking for commissions are getting better at tracking them down for the issues they have to deal with. Blaandy has a lot coming to her for scamming a lot of people out of money and I already know I am going to do everything in my power to see to it that this never happens again to me.

There is a rule however:

16. No posting home addresses or phone numbers of anyone, member or not.

You have to take it down. T__T

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments:
The entire experience has been recorded in this post (http://forums.cosplay.com/showpost.php?p=1962427&postcount=1162). Since that time I have asked for and received a refund from the ebay user Nonbra.
Blanndy has apparently been using the cosplay.com members she commissions to send money to various stores for costumes that SHE will be receiving.
I am certain that this is a scam, and I would highly recommend for anyone dealing with this user to pull out.
Nonbra, on the other hand, has been more than helpful, even if I have no interest whatsoever in their wigs.

Final Grade: F to Blanndy.

Oh, I'm so glad I decided not to commission Blanndy now. I was considering (her/him?) to make my latest costume, but now since I've heard how their ripping people off has changed my mind completely. I'm really sorry to hear what happened to Asuka and AkuseruRokusesu. It amazes me how people will go so far as to scam other people out of their money just to to get a costume that they should either A) Make themeselves or B) Use their OWN money to pay for.
