My list of costumes i want to do is at least 30 long, and a lot of the ideas i have are from old cartoons i used to watch as a kid. just to name a few, there's the misfits from jem, brittany from alvin n the chipmunks, whazzat kangaroo from zoobilee zoo, gadget from chip n dale's rescue rangers... the list goes on. has anyone done any cosplaying from old cartoons? 80's 90's, whateva. also, if there's anyone in the new england area that wants to put a group together from any old toons, i'd be thrilled!

I'm working on cartoon Princess Zelda for Project A-Kon. :) Alas, I'm not much help for a group as I live out in the ol' Wild West.

Now that so many 1980's cartoons are hitting DVD, I'm looking forward to making the costumes I couldn't make then, like Castaspella and Madame Razz from She-Ra. :bigtu:

I'd really love to see aswell do my own 80's cosplay. The 80's and early
90's were great for me, I have so many fond memories of TV shows that
I would watc. I would love to do a Jem from Jem and the Holograms, and
speaking of which I searched on YouTube and found someone who actually
attempted a cosplay from that aswell as together with The Misfits.Checkitout

I want to do a Princess Lana (from Captain N) cosplay soon. I know it's very obscure, though - most people probably won't recognize me.

Not cartoons, but on the nostalgia bit: This thread is making me want to cosplay from Fraggle Rock! Like Red, or Boober!

And do you think anyone would recognize a My So-Called Life cosplay? I'd love to do Rayanne... Oh, the possibilities! ^_^

I was trying to convince a friend that a Trash Heap costume would be one of the most awesome things ever! Sew a bunch of fake leaves and rubbish onto a bag, make the little rats, and attach them. It'd be best if you had the voices for all of them down though.

I'm dying to do some truly outrageous Jem cosplay. I've wanted to do Rainbow Brite for a while too! Ohhh and Herself the Elf. I think I'm the only one that remembers that, but I loooved her as a kid.

I recently made a Anne-Marie cosplay from All Dogs Go to Heaven. It was worn to Katsucon this year. No one knew who I was at the convention. But when I posted it here a lot of people did. ^_^

Kawaii!!! that's so adorable! I thought of doing that one too.

I think at least a few people would recognize you. Heh, you could always walk around w/ an mp3 player playing the theme song, that might help, lol :toothy:

I had Herself the Elf dishes as a kid!

Oh, and speaking of the truly outrageous Jem and the Holograms... my sister and I did one of their songs in an elementary school talent show. You remember how the dolls came with the cassette tapes with karaoke versions on one side? Mom made us look all 80's cool - silver rhinestone & black little miniskirt outfits, silver boots, and crimped hair...

I did a Rainbow Brite cosplay... when I was a little kid for Halloween. Mom made the whole thing - yarn wig, outfit with individually stuffed color sections, even the purple star on my cheek. I loved that costume. :)

...I guess we're all showing our ages here, huh?

I did a Smurf for Halloween once.

I did Cheetara for Halloween last year - http://pics.livejournal.com/kandybar/pic/0002zqyf/g14

Hm - I really should put those pics up over here.

I've been plotting Allura from Voltron, Rainbow Brite, and She-Ra for a while. I've actually got the base pattern for Rainbow Brite, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Working on Zia from Mysterious Cities of Gold. Need to finish some other projects first. Right now I'm trying to figure out her pendant.

I want to do She-Ra too! She was my hero as a kid. ^_^ Sadly I'd have to lose some of my thighs of thunder and tummy flab before attempting that shorty skirt/spandexy top. XD!

I also would loooooove to put together a Dungeons and Dragons group too! I want to cosplay Presto!

Blast from the past! I remember being Lady Lovelylocks for Halloween one year. Even though I actually had the store-bought official costume, no one knew who I was. :(

I'm still hoping to cosplay as Pidge from Voltron one of these days. Also, it's from the early nineties, not the eighties, but I think it would be cool to do a Peter Pan and the Pirates cosplay. I like that version of Wendy better than the Disney version.

You MUST do this! If you can get a group that would be even better! Depending on what con, I might be interested.

I'm twenty-one, I don't know what you're talking about! :crylaugh:

A Dungeons & Dragons group would be great! Especially if someone dressed as Venger with his one huge wing.

Two members here did really great Lady Lovely Locks costumes recently. My inner child was very pleased: http://images.cosplay.com/gallery.php?cat=66495&member=22999

This thread reminds me that I've also wanted to make a Rook Bartley costume, from the third arc of Robotech. Such good memories, let's keep them coming. :toothy:

YAY! Peter Pan and the Pirates was an awesome show! ^__^ Oooh! Does anyone remember Young Robin Hood? Or Prince Valient? And a D&D group would be fun, I've seen pics of that done before.

...this is fun. ^^;;

Lady Lovely locks! lol. one of my dream cosplays oddly enough. ^_^ I've even thought about doing the mermaid version. I have a few pictures in the plastic dress version as a kid. *sigh* cosplay has come a long way since then...

OMG Lady Lovely Locks...still have my dolls in my parents' basement. What was the name of the one in the yellow dress? I have her as well as the Prince (forget his name too). That would be TOO fun to make!

A good friend of mine and her boyfriend went as Smurfette and Papa Smurf this past Halloween, which was pretty awesome.

I had the pink lady lovelylocks doll. I lost her when I was a kid. I dropped her at night and didn't realize it because I was so tired of walking. I loved that show so much.

I have thought about a Strawberry Shortcake costume to upgrade the one I had when I was a kid. (Look in my Gallery if you wana see the old plastic smock and the mask from when I was little) I also dressed up as She-Rah when I was a kid, still have parts of the play set :)

OMG Lady Lovely Locks! I still had those little Pixietails hair-clip things for years after the dolls had been lost/sold st a garage sale.

Ahhh, the best costume concept of the 80s: a mask and a smock with a picture of the character you are supposed to be on it. ^_^

I also had a She-Ra playset, complete with outfit, mask, and sword. It was awesome, and I'd love to recreate an adult version someday!

I didn't have a real She-Ra costume as a kid, but my dad helped me put one (sorta) together. Better than just the towel-cape costume, he had a bunch of costume jewelry brooches to fasten the towel with. Add a glow-in-the-dark plastic sword and a headband, and I played She-Ra all over the neighborhood.
If only cosplay was still so easy...

Those are totally awesome Lady Lovely Locks costumes! They even reproduced the materials used on the dolls! Amazing! Thanks for the link, Coyoterose. :)

The one in the yellow dress was Maiden Curlycrown and the prince was Prince Strongheart. Is it sad that I know that? ^_^;

Oooh! Does anyone remember Young Robin Hood?

Oh my god, yes! I totally remember that! I watched so many cartoons when I was a kid it probably fried my brain. ^_^;;

Did any of the girls here besides me watch MoonDreamers when we were little? I remember having the Crystal Starr costume when I was in first grade (yes, it was the plastic smock and mask). Looking back on it, I'd love to make a Dream Gazer or Celeste costume now, just to see if I'd get recognized.

Hmm, didn't watch the show, but I remember wanting the dolls so badly when I saw them at KB. I say go for it!

Lori-

Hello. This is great! I have been looking to do something like A lion-o or one of the SilverHawks. I'm in the Chicagoland area. I'll have to put something together at least in the preliminaries and send pics. Let me know if you need suggestions or help with your projects.

Do you think if I made a wig and his sword but then dressed in his street clothes people would regonize me?

The full armor is just out of my league at the moment...maybe I could make the sub armor (http://easpegasus.net/sage/sagemiau.jpg) o_o

I would love to play Eric from D&D since he was the most realistic of the characters. And I would like to play He-Man, but I think Security would toss me out for that costume.

But when I get better at this, I will get together a Mum'Ra the Ever Living costume.

cmkcubed: I agree with Annie-Mei, why don't you try the sub armor? That would rock muchly. :rockon:

While I was surfing online, I came across a show I had all but forgotten about: Rose Petal Place. Does anyone remember that? I had a couple of the dolls when I was a kid and I seem to vaguely remember watching the show and/or movie. Seems no one has cosplayed from it so far, so I think that might be one of my next cosplays.
