I saw a forum with just plain "music chat" so I am taking a chance to post something not japanese/asian here.

Did anyone buy the new Madonna cd? I bought it last night from best buy for $10, and I am duely impressed. I was never a really big Madonna fan until the single "Music" came about and then I bought the "Greatest Hits Volume 2" collection, or whatever that one was. And then when I listened to it, I went through this whole 80's rediscovery. I'm only 19, but I still remember a lot of the 80's songs from 86-89 for some reason, even though I was like... 2-5.

Anyway, I guess I am about to sputter a brief review here. Just like her past single "Don't Tell Me" (you know, the chaps/cowboy video), most of this album has a lot of remixed acoustic guitar riffs. Which apparently she played. There are still about 3 or 4 highly techno type tracks, significantly less than "Music" and "ray of Light". So I assume her whole techno thing is starting to calm down. The mood of the whole album is a lot of rebellious anti-fame crap which kind of runs her as a hypocrit. But you never know, maybe she is honestly getting sick of being famous. Like in the single "American Life" another song has a brief rapping sequence by Madonna. No offense to the woman, but I don't EVER want to here her rap again in another album. I don't think she can. It sounds like crap. That is the only negative part of this whole album in my opinion is a beautiful voice like hers is rapping, and it just doesnt sound right. Luckily that is only in two songs.

Suprisingly short album though, with only 45:00 or so of track time. Also, seeming to be a filler, "Die Another Day" is thrown in there. But its a little different from the Radio Edit. My favorite song so far on it is "Nothing Fails", which is this love song. The main chorus lyric is "I'm not religious, but it feels so good. Makes me wanna pray, pray that you'll always be here. I'm not religious, but I feel such love, makes me wanna pray." "It" being the love shes singing about. All in all, I'm not disappointed for $10. Not as disappointed as I was when I bought the first Linkin Park cd with 38:00 of run time at $18. I look down at that time.

Anyway, did anyone buy/get it? And if you did, what do you think?

I'm really not a fan of Madonna's career as a whole... she isn't blessed with a great voice, but she got the proper coaching to help it come along.

Maddona hit her peek during 1989's 'Like a Prayer', 1990's 'Dick Tracy: "I'm Breathless" (Music from & Inspired by the Film)', 1992's 'Erotica', and ending with 1994's 'Bedtime Stories'.

Then she did 'Ray of Life'.. hey its good to grow as a person and I think its just dandy... but the album was horrible... same with 'Music' and she was able to go down in history with the WORST bond theme EVER with 'Die Another Day'... which master copy should be burned.

Videowise.... she's an excellent video artist!

'Ray of Life'Ray of "Light"

Anyway, sadly I wasnt into her back in the day cause I was all like... 3 years old, or 5 or whatever. I know I started to like her a lot when I heard "Frozen." Which became one of my faves. I remember back in the day though that my mom wouldnt let me watch MTV for like 2 months cause that video where she was having sex with the tv came out. You know, the one where theres a bullfighter on the tv and shes all shovin her beaver into it and singing something. My mom wouldnt let me watch tv after that.

Then again, this is the same mother that wouldnt let me and my older sister watch Mr. Rogers cause my mom thought he was a pedophile. No real evidense to back up the claim, she just had a hunch.

her videos..usually very cool
her music..shrug.. It's okay but I'm never blown away. She's just an average voice who knows how to play the game.

Wah! I still have to get the album!

I think she's fairly talented, but had a few miscasts along the way. Evita, A League of their Own, and Dick Tracy are on my top movie lists.

I liked her since Evita came out. I thought it was a very well film adaptation of the ALW musical. She can sing, and she has some of the best music videos out there. (wah! I'm so in love with Material Girl, Take a Bow, Bedtime Story, and Like a Prayer!) Go Jean Baptiste!

And her concerts are just so theatrically wonderful. *^^*

Has anyone seen her Drowned World HBO special? She had a few clips of Perfect Blue during an instrumental part to end the oriental themed portion of the concert.

I too, I am not a big Madonna fan, but I like her new song, American Life. I probably will buy her new album.

I have I the "Ray of Life" Album. Me, personally, I love the album. I thought it was her best album to date, but it's just me. ^__^

I adore Madonna.

I
---Hated "Music"
---Loved "Ray Of Light"
---Embraced "Immaculate Collection"
---Listen to "Something To Remember" when I need to feel calm
---Haven't bought "American Life" yet. Where can I listen to clips?
---Wish I attended her Drowned World Tour (that is a very suave name for a tour :D), but tickets were in the $900s
---Think the video for "Frozen" kicks a fuckload of ass
---Think she looked best with the short black hair (pictures can be found in "Immaculate Collection" sleeve, which I assume you all own ;))

That's Ray Of Light--pretty sure anyways, back then she was head first in yoga and Hinduism.
