Hey guys, so I was in the cosplay musical this year, and I know we had a LOT of audience members in that tiny panel room, so I'm sure at least some of you might stumble across this thread and...well, I was wondering what you thought! I'll let our directorial staff know about any feedback you all are willing to give, and thank you to all who attended. We had a blast and we can't wait to start planning for next year!

I thought it was very good and entertaining. The only thing I might suggest is if it were at all possible to have more stuff on the stage part instead of the floor. I was only about 5 or 6 rows back and it was hard to see stuff that was happening on the floor.

I thought it was awesome. Jesse and James, did a really great job. I also liked the Samurai Champloo, Naruto and One Piece skit/songs.

You guys did a great job.

I was also in the musical (Rufus ShinRa), as well as the writer of the script. I'm interested in getting more feedback on what people would like to see more of in the musical, since we will be doing another one at next year's con. For instance, what anime's would you like to see represented, and (if you are a musical buff, like Gale and myself) what musicals would you like to hear more of?

This will help us greatly to determine more of what would be taken well by all of you in our next performance.^^

get this, most of the people thought it was so good, that the staff that didn't get to go, asked me if we could re do it for them at Con Opps on Saturday night when i came back and i was shell shocked that they actually asked to ask, and therefor we got promoted for next year to get up on the main stage!

And at the cosplay chess, those of you who didn't get to see it, there was a huge bashing of Riku and then Mooky was like "ok guys those of you who are dead do this" and he did the zombie walk that we did in the zombie number! i was like "omg that's my dance!" well one of the three that i was in, so that made my day yesterday when i saw him do that.

Yah, that was an issue of the space we were given. We really didn't have room on that platform to do much, so we used what we had in the floor space. With the very likely possibility that we will be given a spot in main events next year, though, that will not be a problem.

I thought the musical was really funny (I really liked the script) and amazingly well-done! I must admit, I was a little biased because of what I had heard about last year's musical, but this year's blew me away and I'm happy to hear that it may get a spot in main events for next year. I'm not the best person to give suggestions, and I actually can't think of any at the moment, except maybe "moar dancing!" Hehe, seriously though, I enjoyed the big dance numbers like the Thriller dance, so more of those would be nice to see, but I realize they'd probably be quite time-consuming to practice and difficult to get everyone together to rehearse... don't mind me, I'm just a sucker for dancing. ^^;

I just wanted to thank everyone who's complimented the musical, as well as everyone who came. I was Robin and Kiba in the musical, incidentally. We were ALL blown away by how many people came and the support we got despite the quality of last year's show. We all worked really hard for months on it and even though we ended up fudging some of the scenes and some stuff didn't work (for example our "backdrop" had to be taken down almost immediately) I think it was still more successful than we could have hoped.

I do agree that it probably was hard for people, especially in the back, to see due to the fact that we were forced to perform mostly on the floor. We also weren't aware of how small the actual stage area was, and also how high off the floor it was, which made it difficult to go to and from it in scenes.

Like Chris said, what can be changed or improved? Which animes/videogames do you think ought to be added, or which did you think shouldn't have had as much screentime as they did? Any particular songs/shows you think would be perfect?

I'd like to second Caro's comments and everybody else's ... THANK YOU GUYS for coming and I'm so glad you enjoyed it! We hope to put on an even better show next year!

I have some song recommendations, actually. Some Rodgers and Hammerstein would be nice, also maybe a selection from Into the Woods, and perhaps a song from Wicked. I'm not sure how those could be worked into the script, but you were asking for song recommendations so I'm giving 'em.

Is there any where to see anything online? I missed it because I was late, but I would be very interested in seeing something from it.

http://www.veoh.com/videos/v809630wPZWH8Jy <---this video has several clips from various songs throughout it, mostly in the first ten minutes of it.

Also, Tia, we have definitely discussed adding some Wicked songs next year as that's currently a popular musical. Thanks for your suggestions!

Clips of the musical that are online (that I found, so far!):

This link has a slide-show, but pauses for clips of the musical. Included are "What's This," "King Of Broadway," and maybe some other stuff, I don't remember:

Sephiroth singing the "Bring It On" cheer:

James (Team Rocket) singing "I'm Super" from the Southpark Movie:

Edward Elric singing "Not The Boy Next Door" from The Boy From Oz:

Tia: I'm pushing hard for Wicked songs, and I heart Rodgers and Hammerstein so I'll put in a good word for that, too. I personally would love to have some Disney hits in there, as well as some Sweeney Todd. Not sure how we'd put Sweeney Todd in there. I'll make sure to pester the directors s'more, hee.
Also, I LOVE "Into the Woods"!! We were originally gonna have a song from that in there, too. I won't say what it was in case we put it in next year!

Awesome! Thanks for linking the clips. The only one I've seen before is the Sephiroth one... I still feel terrible that I missed this. Rachel (Jessie...) wanted me to go... :(

James singing "I'm Super"... LOL!!

You have no idea how much I want to be a part of this next year.
Because I would vote to have Hawkeye singing "You Can't Get a Man with a Gun..."
If I could do that, I would die a happy woman. :crylaugh:
(Annie Get Your Gun FTW! Needs moar old-school showtunes...)

However I live in PA so that's impossible. FAILED DUE TO LOGISTICS!
(Note to self: Need to get a job in Connecticut...)

OMGSH! that would be "super!" LOL i would love to be a part in it again, maybe a bit bigger, i felt silly coming to so meny rehearsals when i had to come to the last few T_T but it was fun to watch anyway. And i wouldn't have gotten to see the show before hand, but i really would like to try harder for a better role. Depending on if i have the costume at the time.

Haha, that would be amazing. I need to get a move on my Hawkeye costume. There's sooo many good ideas that we weren't able to use this year, I hope we can incorporate some of them next year. I know there were some Rent ideas that didn't make it, and I would personally loooove to see some Wicked or Into the Woods. (I was actually going to do something from Wicked for the first musical but it never happened due to the fact that last year was a disaster :d) Fitting all the ideas into a script can be tough, though. Hopefully the show's just as good (if not better) next year :D

Heck, the amount of ideas we have tossing around I'm already planning in the back of my mind for two years from now! XD

though first things first is next year's show. Thanks for the suggestions, but keep 'em coming to everyone else! Also, Hawke, if you're at least willing to come to the dress rehearsal I'm sure we can try to write in a more or less self contained cameo role for you if you really want to be a part of this.

I enjoyed the musical. Honestly, I would've loved to watch it again (I'm hoping someone uploads it to youtube). A few parts did bore me a bit (but it must have no stuck out too much, because I don't remember which parts did). I did wish, though, that I could've seen what was happening on the ground though. >_< I couldn't see anything that was happening on the ground (neither could my friends, unless they stood up).

Jessie and James were my favourites out of the whole musical. =3 I think they did a wonderful job portrying the characters. Jessie voice amazed me though. She was only a bit of from Jessie's original English voice.

Other than that...I think everyone who got the part of what they got deserved the part. =3

Wonderful musical and I hope to see it next year. On the stage this time though. I really hope you get that room where they usually have the AMV contest/masquerade/other events.

Thanks for all the feedback, guys, but keep it coming, pleeeaaaaase! We're going to have a meeting soon to brainstorm ideas, and it'd be really helpful to know some animes/games that you'd like to see show up next year!

Since this is so popular, why don't you try to do two showings next year? That way it won't be as crowded (hopefully) and if people have scheduling conflicts they can still probably make it to one of them. It would just be a matter of the performers having enough time to do it.

Adara
07-22-2007, 07:27 PM
Well, next year we're almost definitely going to be in Main Events (which is being expanded for next year anyway~), so crowding won't be a problem. Doing it twice would be really tough and time-consuming. x_X

Gale
07-23-2007, 09:25 AM
Yah, we're lucky to be getting a place in Main Events even once, but I doubt they'd have room for two showings. Besides, ME will be an even bigger room next year, also, so audience space is no problem whatsoever.

Edit: hey...this was my 1000th post...w00t ^_^ lol
