Hi! It isn't definite, but I might be cming to Anime Expo this year (wooooo!) and if I do I'll be looking to do a really easy costume with a potentially difficult prop..

I've attached a pic of the chara, her name is Judy hagstrom from War of Genesis III...and i need some ideas or advice on how to contruct that sword in pieces...so i can put it together at the con...anyone who can offer help is fantastic, seeing as how i need it. thanks in advance!

If you make it out of wood you could use dowel screws to put it together. It may be to hard to make it out of metal, all those edges. Or if you wanted to go extremely cheap, you could make it out of heavy cardboard and velcro it together. Just some ideas, I hope it helps.

The problem with using wood is that it would be heavy...and chances are good that i wouldn't be allowed to carry it around the con (most wood weapons are forbidden).

And so many cons specifically state that absolutely no live steel is allowed...so metal is kind of out of the question...

You can make it out of some sort of hard foam, about taking it apart and putting it back together, you can use apoxy (that stuff holds like magic), just use some small polls when making it for a guide and all, and that way wen you get it to the con, all you have to do is put the apoxy on and then slide together. That's the only way that I can think of doing it at the momet.
