Keep checking back for more updates!

Oooh, exciting. Are these the characters we'd try to have each played by separate actors, or might some actors double up on some of these roles?

There would be no reason to have actors double up on roles. We're expecting a much greater turnout at auditions this year, and therefore we will hopefully not need to doublecast, though we will if necessary.

However, we will also most likely be casting understudies this year, since it was proved necessary in the 07 musical, so we will probably be "doubling up" in that way.^^

I found the facebook group...I was just wondering if there was a little more information. I'm kinda interested, but I honestly wasn't able to attend the musical this past year.

I would be interested. Would it be alright to add maybe Death Note characters. C:
Cause me and my 3 friends are cosplaying L, Light, and Misa. XC

From the sounds of things the script we have is pretty set as far as characters we're using, and I'd expect if ANYTHING we're going to cut down on the number of characters if need be instead of adding them. This isn't just some little skit; its a full out musical play and we can't simply throw in characters left and right with no reason besides "someone already has the costume."

That said, I'm not really on the excec. board whose running the show this year, so Christina would have to tell you for sure.

Also, I'm pretty sure we're going to have auditions, since we did last year, so while already owning the costume for some of these may help, you also do have to show up and prove you can do well portraying the role at least marginally well (not that I'm insinuating you can't, since I don't know you, but just putting it out there that there IS an audition process) ;)

I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for more information. I'm planning on cosplaying Axel soon, which is kinda what got me interested when I saw him on the list.

As Gale said, we DO have the list set....at the moment. However, things are apt to change. Death Note is a show we really did want to add this year, due to it's huge popularity, but it just didn't end up fitting in. The reason we have the outline done this early in the game is so that we can work with it as we go along.

However, you can definitely play your own characters in ensemble roles, and one thing we'll be working with is fitting in little walk on roles for people who we feel merit them.^^

In addition, we will not be cutting character from the list we already have, with the exception of Brock Samson, who isn't actually in the script yet. We are actively looking for someone who can decently play him, and if we do not find such an actor, we will have to cut the character from the play. *weeps* I heart Brock.

As far as the extra information goes that you, JeiC, are looking for, I can private message you here about it, and I'll look for you on facebook as well. If you're definitely going to audition, I'll be sure to keep in touch and keep you up to date about stuff.^^

Oh, I See What You Did There! ;)
This looks like it shall be Epic. I wish you all luck with it!

I currently do not have a facebook account. Would I still be able to view the site? I am not familiar with things like Facebook or MySpace.

Oh, and for those of us from far away, would you like us to send vocal samples? I have a few recordings available, so I can listern to them and find something that is of decent quality.

(And with regards to your PM, Tech Would Be Fine Too.)

Unfortunately, you can't view facebook without an account. We DO have another website that's just ours, but I know our directors were talking about getting rid of it, since it's been very unused as of late. I'd rather they didn't, since I know it looks more professional to the CTcon staff than a facebook page does.

I'd recommend getting an account, if it's not something you object to. I mean, you could even use it just for the musical. If it's something you really aren't interested in, I can keep you up to date to the best of my capabilities (I'll be really busy with things, so it may get hectic, but I'll do my best!^^).

As far as music goes, we have in the past posted song files online. I'm not sure how it'll work now with facebook and people not being on facebook.....we could also try sending the files through aim, if people have that; I know we've done that in the past.

JeiC, I haven't gotten back to you yet, and I'm sorry. I swear, I'm on my way right now to message you with more info! *flies away at lightspeed*

I don't see why the MSN page couldn't still be used. I think it was a lot better than the facebook one. Long as you guys can get the announcements page to work right again I think we should go back to it.

The only problem is, we want to have one page for doing everything. That was why we originally started the msn site, but the eventually, it became easier to just use the facebook page. I assume I will bring this up with the other Board of Directors and see what they think and we'll come to a decision, or put it to a vote, or something. I personally would be all for leaving it up, but really, most of our business is conducted through facebook; not sure why.

Hey hey! Would anybody be able to tell me where auditions and rehearsals are going to take place? Or, because it's still early, at least where you *plan* to have them? Chances are they're going to be too far from where I live for me to be able to participate, but I just thought I'd ask.

Also, the character list is very... interesting. Looks like a very diverse cast. (Fry, Leela, Zoidberg, oh my, LOL.)

We hope to be holding auditions at the actual Connecticon headquarters (we were given that as a possible option at last year's Connecticon; now we need to talk to the staff and find out if it is still available).

Rehearsals this past year took place in Walnut Hill Park in New Britain, where there is a large shell stage. However, due to the fact that we will be starting earlier (auditions will be held in November/December and rehearsals will most likely therefor be starting in January) we will need an indoor location for rehearsals. Right now the Board is looking into a location at Central Connecticut State University, which has ample theatre space and may be willing to loan some out to us.

Hey, I just created a bogus account of Facebook just to read the musical page.

Hey Nuwanda. I don't talk to you much these days anymore, but I am throwing this in here since it seems like the best place to do so.
I'm still available for making any sort of props that you guys may need for the musical this year. (I know I'm already making the Ganondorf sword via Ryan, and my Sitar is available for use, as well- regardless if I audition or not) Anything else that needs to be made though, I would happily volunteer. =D

Let me know by January at the latest!

The only costume I have from that list is Tamaki. But I'm a girl is that alright? I have a pretty low voice naturally. I pull off a boy really well.

I live in western mass and connecticon's only a 45min drive for me each year. But I didn't get to see the musical last year. Is it really fun to participate?

It's amaaaaaaaaaazingly fun to participate! I'm not just saying that cause I'm the author;^^ it really is a blast! We've become a really tight knit group of friends that organizes events throughout the year so we can hook up and see each other without waiting for the musical to come back around again. You know, little trips and things, fun stuff.

As far as the Tamaki thing goes, I'd say go for it and audition. But we don't cast people based on what costumes they have. I know we had a girl last year who got really upset because we cast her as a character that she wasn't planning on cosplaying. It was really hard to get it across to her that we do this as a real show. If we put a character in it, we plan on having/making the costume for it. So if you feel like you could play that character well, then audition for him! If you feel like there's someone else you'd do better as, audition for him/her, and don't worry about the costume. In the end, we'll stick you where you seem to fit best. But DEFINITELY audition. It's a ridiculous amount of fun.^^

Gale

Note to that, if others in the cast have the time and ability we can help with costumes, so as long as its not too elaborate so you don't necessarily have to already have it or make it yourself even.

Well, CT is about a 3 1/2 hr drive for me, so maybes I could make it to a rehearsal or two. (I drive to Boston every other month pr so pre-AB for staff meeting things, so why the hell not? I plan on driving my current car into the ground before I buy a new one...) I'm also willing to purchase my own music. I work for a karaoke business part time, so I have an account with karaoke.com.

Ok, so um... I was talking to Rachel today and she mentioned the possibility of Dr. Who having a brief cameo. If this works out, I'd LOVE to audition for him.
I'd audition for a larger role, but I'm not sure if I will be living in New England next spring/summer, so a small cameo role might be better as far as rehearsals are concerned.
I really want to be a part of this, though, and I LOVE Dr. Who... I can pull off the British accent, too! I'm living about 30mins south of New Britain now, so I can drop by to audition any time. :)

Yup yup, it's pretty likely that the Doctor will be making an appearance. Then we get to build the Tardis! Yay! (Though to my boyfriend's great disappointment, it will NOT be bigger on the inside. We have some great techies working for us, but none of them are quite that skilled).

British accent is always a plus as well.^^

LadyRayne: the copious years of dance? Of COURSE that helps! We love it when we can utilize whatever skills people have, however random they be, and thankfully, in a musical, dancing is not at all random.XD

Actually, he doesn't want to be Axel in the musical. And all parts that we give out are based off of the auditions that we will be holding in November, not the costumes that people already have. Anyone can state at that time what part they would like to audition for.

Question. Are you going to be making any costumes for those who audition for parts and don't have the costumes already (or can't make them themselves)? If so, I'll volunteer to help out.

Look! I exist! (Sorry, Chris, for lacking internet and existing in what looks like a black hole full of fluffy, cute kittens!)

For those of you who don't already know me, my name is Ryan and I'm the director of this insanity. Alongside with me co-directing this year is Haldan, who was famous for his role as Sephiroth in Connecticon: The Musical II! We also have two stage managers, Jess and Rachel, as well as two choreographers, Rain and Teresa. In addition to this, we have Christina, our lead script writer, who also kind of doubles as a little bit as everything because she contributes a lot to the show.

That said, I wanted to state that we unfortunately DO NOT have a place or time set for auditions yet. I was going to aim for early December to get them out of the way and start rehearsals earlier this year, however there's a lot of controversy over December so I cannot give out any confirmed information in regards to that. Rehearsals this year will be much different from last year as well. Last year we had these ridiculously long and horrid rehearsals that went on for 8 hours every Sunday. We're going to be splitting up rehearsals over the course of the week while having a group rehearsal only for a short period of time once a week. There will be mandatory rehearsals that EVERYONE will have to attend to every now and again, but we will try to give you at LEAST two to four weeks notice if we can!

As Nuwanda (Chris) said, auditions and casting are NOT going to be decided upon costume. When you come for auditions, there will be a section on the audition sheet where you can list costumes in which you already own. You can also tell us after listing your costumes, if there are any parts that you are trying out for. We base our casting upon voice, memorization skills and dance. You don't need be incredible at any of them to receive a decent role. If you can come in and prove you can do any of those things even a LITTLE, you have a pretty good chance. This doesn't mean don't come and not give us all you got, because you should. However, we will not expect to see everyone's hidden talent in a 15 minute audition either.

We are currently working on a new title for the musical as we have been told by numerous sources (Including Briana herself) that we have been promoted to mainstage for Connecticon 2008. As I'm sure you ALL can understand, we really would like to change the title for mainstage's sake -- Or maybe we're just tired of tacking on sequel numbers to our show! And trust me, I rather be doing this longer than a set of a trilogy. xD

As for ENSEMBLE pieces. There will be a large ensemble. If you are not cast in a lead, you will be placed as a particular character in ensemble. These characters will be in and out throughout the show and will all have a decent amount of stage time. For instance, I know we're planning on having appearences of Ash Ketchum, Darth Vader, and now we even have Inspector Gadget in the works. So anything is really possible. We may have a couple of Death Note characters IN the ensemble. Unfortunately, I cannot gaurantee that until more of the script has been worked on and we have had all of our auditions set aside.

As for some personal information regarding me -- Larxene, I hate to say it, but sadly I will not be auditioning for Axel as much as you know I'm attached to cosplaying the character. I am writing him down as one of the characters that I would personally like to audition for, but I doubt I will be cast as him. Anybody on the board executive board cannot cast themselves. They have to go through the same audition process as everyone else.

Lady Hawkeye -- I know that you are very much interested in the show from what Christina has been telling me. To perfectly honest, I would absolutely love to have you be part of the show despite the distance. However, I'm sure something can be arranged as rehearsals will not be as often mandatory and smaller auditions will be held in various locations. Feel free to PM me for more information.

As for everyone else who has expressed interest! We do have a facebook group which I use to delegate tasks, post information, send out rehearsal dates and use for general contact. I'm finding that Facebook is indeed becoming easier than e-mail itself. HOWEVER, I AM planning designing a small website for Connecticon: The Musical, probably through angelfire, where we can post documents, music, downloads, information and possibly a message board for general information. I will be utilizing both the website and Facebook, so please do not think one of the two is more important than the other. Both will be equally as important. Unfortunately, I cannot get the website squared away or a start on until at LEAST mid-October. However, by November, the site should be up and running!

If anybody else has any information, my AIM SN is: FearixAWolfgang. PLEASE DO NOT BE AFRAID TO IM ME! I'm friendly. I also have an e-mail address which is fearixwolfgang@hotmail.com.

Sorry for the late information, guys! Please join the Facebook account for now to keep updated! I will do my best to check back on cosplay. com!

Ryan, the Roy Mustang costume we need for our show needs to rip apart. So we sort of need to make our own, since I highly doubt that Bryan wants us to cut his up and totally remake it so that it will fit our needs.^^()

o, it sounds fun! hopefully i'll be out of work by the time this thing is set up (But i need the money so i can't quit until i leave the state)

but i don't really understand the double location thing. Are you saying, rather then having it at CCSU and the park like last year, we're going to have it elseware? That's going to be a tad difacult for me because I might wind up takking the bus this year enstead of realying on my dad to give me a ride. Sometimes though it was rather hard, like the first time u switched it on us, we didn't know where you where and where driving around for at least an hour till we found you (Chris) comeing down to meet us I'll never forget that! lol

Gale

I think what they're saying is we're going to rehearse individual scenes at locations more central to the specific people in those scenes, and then do big rehearsals of the whole cast at some place we can all get to. That way those of us coming from far away may not have to always travel quite as far.

Nuwanda

I would also like to post here that, in addition to the characters listed, we will be needing the rest of the Ouran Host Club, most importantly Haruhi, Kyouya, and Hikaru and Kaoru. We will need Mitskuni and Takashi as well, but as of yet, they have no speaking parts (though really, that's how Takashi is....I'm sure Hunny will be talking later).

The Ouran Hosts will serving an important role as the ushers for the show, since that is not too far off from what they do in their own anime, and they will be hamming it up greatly, playing to the crowd and acting the full part of their characters, so we need people who can really truly act the part of these characters. If you come to auditions wanting these roles, come prepared to show us your stuff.^^

This goes also for the character roles (tiny though they may be) of Ash Ketchum, Emperor Palpatine, a handful of Naruto ninjas (Gaara, Temari, Sasuke, Haku, and Naruto himself), and last but CERTAINLY not least, Inspector Gadget.

A sidenote here: whoever wants to play Ash has to be incredibly ripped in the chest and arms area. We understand this may be difficult to find among cosplayers, but we're determined.^^

And right now, you're all wondering wtf I could possibly be doing with this script. The answer is quite easy. Summoning the four horsemen of the apocolypse. XD
