This is my GOD FORSAKEN con report

Thursday.

I packed up my bags for the con, then my MOM drop me off to the con. When I arrive, I met up with a guy name Quu (from AMV.org) by con ops. We chatted about random crap while we waited for our badges (which we got two hours late). Then there's three hot chicks waiting at con ops too. But I found out it was Troppy, which I didn't know back then. Then Quu say, get them on film. But I say, I can't they, they're not part of staff (my job in staff was to video document the staff, and activites). Then Quu beat the leaving crap out out of me. When I got my room key and staff badge, when to my room, then to the meet and greet. I talk to Brett Weaver *sp about me with the Nabeshin costume, then film random $hit. Also I met Chris Patton, I NEVER heard of this guy, but his ****ing crazy, and cool. After that, the unexpected happen!.... MY VIDEOCAMER BROKE! So I tried to fix it my way, buy just jaming the thing. But didn't work, so I have to get a mini screwdrive and unscrew the camera, I was fixing that cam for atleast one hour, and didn't work. So I say **** it. So me and my DH discuss out backup plan. Then I went to sleep....

MORE TO COME, but now. I must upload some pics, and get rest...

Now for Fridays Report...

Lets see, my day started at 7:30 in the morning. I put up my Parappa costume which took me 30 mins to put up. Then I went to staff suite, get breakfast, screw around with some staff members, then go to work. I met up with my DH, help him with his video equipment, and setup the video equipment in main programming room. After all that crap, my DH told me and this other dude that we are covering anything that's in main prog. Due to that my camera is FINALLY dead! And the other guy has a VHS-C camcorder which SUCKS! While we are in the main prog, the other two cameraman film panels. Anyways, my crew recorded the opening ceremonies, and we got a live feed from the two HUGH @$$ screens on the side of the stage. I say HOLY $HIT that's my video work, and I also panic on what to film! During opening ceremonies, they announce that Anime Match Game was cancel to do Greggo's (the host) flight was in a MAJOR delay. After the opening ceremonies, it was the Yoko Ishina (*sp) concert. The concert was good, until they brought out the LAST MIN Para Para dancers. I said, "HOLY $HIT! They're pulling it off!". Also, when the two additional dancers came in, one of them turn out to be "Troppy". I said, "one of those HOT PARA PARA DANCERS that I met at this one ACen meeting, and on Tursday was Troppy ........" I really felt salty, But I still say have to say holy $hit. After the concert, there was a MAJOR time gap in main prog, so the crew decided to set up with THREE cameras. Just to experiment how do it for the masquerade. The first event to try out the three camera system was Duel Jewel. But we have a problem, one of cameraman can't switch/film at the same time. Or else we get some bad results. I wanted this event to recorded perfectly, that I decide to get a gopher to film at the last min for the Duel Jewel, and SWEK. I was surprise what the gopher department give me. His name was John, and that guy is equivalent to my DH. He give me a lot of tips in filming that I never thought of. Like put it on manuel focus when there's little light in the area. The Duel Jewel event blew my mind filming them, the only thing I hope is how our footage turn out okay. After Duel Jewel, SWEK setup for their concert. The Band was selling SWEK shirts, So I bought one and started doing sameless promotions for the concert. During my sameless promotion of the concert, I bumped in to Dale their lead guitar. I said WTF cause his in a wheelchair with an injury (well that's Dale for you, that crazy @$$ mofo). Well, Dale still played at the concert, while Mike (the second guitar player) goes crazy off stage. While I was filming, I bitch at my switcher like crazy. Saying like "CAMERA 1, CAMERA 2, NOW BACK TO CAMERA 1, etc" That was quite fun directing my switcher on what to switch. After concert, it was Anime Hell. I decide not to film it, so I went to the AMV pre-judging. Some of the AMV in the pre-judging was like my anime hell for me. I seem a LOT of BAD AMVs, that my DH drag me out of the room so I can help him put the equipment away. After that, I finally met with Lionel, Albert, Ashley Rice, Aeris, and THE ADMIN! The Admin took two pics as Parappa, one in my regular pose. Then the Admin ask me for another, so I give one of my breakdance pose. Me and the admin chatted about the fourms, I ask him if there can be photography section in the fourm. And he said, I'll think about that. After that, I watch more BAD AMVs in the pre-judging until 3 in the morning, and I happen to miss my video (without GTO) in the pre-judging too. Well, after I heard there was SIX more videos to go from the other computer, I pretty much leave like a coward, and go to sleep..

DAMN... THIS $HIT too me an HOUR typing. And I'm a REALLY BAD writer when it comes, cause I really bad in my english class that's why. You guys better read it..

In a quick side note: Troppy if you read this post, I want to give you a copy of the Yoko Ishida cocert. YOU'RE F***ing AWESOME!

Their will be more to come, now I must do my LATE HOMEWORK!....

Oh, wow, you were the Parappa I saw? (I was Bean Bandit on Friday, and Tanaka from Otaku No Video on Saturday, and just some random guy in a 2003 staff shirt on Sunday)

Sorry about your camera, if it was you I saw banging the hell out of it in order to coax it into ejecting the tape, my condolences. I hope to God it's not a Sony thing, because my digital 8 camera is only about a year and a half old, and I've already got ONE Sony product - a vintage 1995-era combo LaserDisc/CD/CD Video player that has a nasty habit of trapping discs when it gets to the B-side on auto-disc side changes, but that's a more or less known issue with most of Sony's MDP units, which is why they did the smart thing, and got out of the LD/combo unit field, leaving it to Pioneer, like it should have been. ^_^;

Anyway, while you happy fun panic times with main programming and such, I was hopping about in Con Ops during the masquerade and the Dual Jewel concert, and the hell that ensued afterwards... I was the guy who was out by the fountains, first asking for everyone in the area to evacuate, and then having to call them back, only to see the strobe alarms go off again... This weekend has made me a strong believer in Security division's "Hating with Hammers" motto...

Other than that, I had a rather good time, and YES, I will come back next year... This was the 6th year for me staffing, I did manage to get a handful of pics (nowhere near the 800+ that cosplay.com's staff amassed, but I did get a nice pic of Aeris, among the rest of the pictures.)

Well...*blush* I'm glad you think so highly of me. It was funny because on Thursday when we met, someone had gone "HEY! It's cute girls!! Why aren't you filming them?! FILM! FILMMM!!!!" I was really thrown; I don't usually get compliments like that. It didn't stop for the *entire* weekend. I can't believe you didn't know who I was!! I had just assumed...sheesh, I would've said something. :E But anyway, yes. Thanks so much, I worked very very hard for that concert. ^.^ And as for me being hot, well...I certainly don't think so, but if that's the opinion you hold, power to you. :P

I wouldn't worry too much about Digital 8 camcorders. I've hideously abused mine (taped over 150 hours of footage, 20 of that at one convention) over the last 2 years and have not had one problem.

Yes that's was me, you can tell that I'm a EVIL person in really life. Anyway, NOW it's time to buy that $3000 sony camcorder I always wanted. Cause that's the only camera that supports my old battery. I know I talk to you several times, like at con ops..... "ah..... do you guys have headsets?"....

Note: THIS YEAR! There won't be any OUTSIDE footage of the con. The only thing I have is picture coverage of the con... What I mean by outside is the craziness footage I always get at the con..
