Is there anyone here who is a fan of the Unreal series and is highly anticipating the coming of the newest sequel? I sure am. UT2003 and UT2004 rocked my definitions of a good PC shooter, and they were loads of fun to play alone, at LAN parties, and online. Besides being some of the speediest FPS titles ever in terms of gameplay, they looked great even on a below-par computer...

...and now, Epic is cranking the notch up once again with Unreal Tournament 3.

So far, the release date for the PC and PS3 versions of this much-hyped multiplayer shooter is around November 2007 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unreal_Tournament_3). Hopefully, the special edition won't climb higher than the current price of $69; either way, it will be very exciting to traverse many awesome maps while laying down the fire.

Looks like UT3 was released today in North America! Has anyone picked up a copy yet?

(I haven't yet; gotta save up the money first. At least the specs for this game aren't as painful as...Crysis)

I am still entirely pissed off about the lack of Unreal Championship 3.

2 was so good! SO good! And they just abandoned the premise.

UT2k7 looks great, but if I could have UC3 over it, It would take it any day of the week, any month of the year.

I'll get the PS3 version. Don't think my PC is up-to-snuff for UE3 games.

I'll probably snag it after I upgrade, though I could very easily run it now...

Well picked up my copy today and i have to say...am extremely dissapointed. The game itself is so glitchy on my comp that while loading any level, i Blue screen of death. Now keep in mind my comp is new has 2gigs of RAM dual 512 video cards intel core 2 duo processor and enough memory to choke a donkey. I am not the first as the complaints for the game rise alot more than EPIC expected.

Mmmm... sounds like it could be more of a game compatibility issue than a game design issue. All the more reason to wait a little bit. The reviews and user input that I've seen thus far have been overwhelmingly good, at least.

Edit: Though, rechecking the specs, it looks as if an upgrade other than in the realm of Video won't particularly be necessary for me. Even my video's well within good play range.

I don't really see the point of purchasing this, or any UT game, for anything other than PC. UT has always had a primary point in the modding community (things like ChaosUT, UT4E, etc.). Console hinders that, if not totally doing away with it.

UT3 PS3 = $59.99 USD

Currently I'm low on processor power, and my graphics card is too old.

$200ish+ USD for an adequate card, and god knows how much for a new mobo+chip+newer RAM for newer mobo.

UT3 PS3 = BARGAIN

Duly noted. I tend to keep my PC up-to-date for professional reasons, so that isn't typically a concern for me. Point well-made, indeed.

(though, video card specs haven't changed very much since U2 engine, nor have processor. You can get a video card which will easily play it for about 100, unless your motherboard is old enough not to have PCI/E and most boards of that sort will have the power to handle UT3, no problem, with a gig of RAM in them.)

Personally, if I can get a cheap-less entertaining version and wait and get the less-cheap, more entertaining version, I will always default to the latter, as going in the other direction means basically buying the game twice if I want to get the most of it.

Well, I could run the it decently with a cheaper graphics card, but it won't look as good as it will on my PS3 for that price.

You have a 1080p TV? That's the only thing that a PS3 can output to that pulls higher resolution than UT3's minimum...
