I really feel we gotta say thank you for the cool music-related entertainment at ACen. So congrats to Troppy and Poli and all you other para freaks out there. Thank you to our Hero II for all the FF piano songs and for singing Currents...awesome and amazing job. Also kudos to whoever was on the piano Saturday playing old Mario music (we were up in the pool area and heard the dungeon music below us and were flipping out.) And of course cheers to the crazy violin dude and the elevator kazoo band.
Yeah, anyone with musical ability just blows my mind. Thanks for accoustically enhancing our weekend.

I was the Hero II at Acen. Thanks, Yui (and your costumes were amazing, too).

The violin dude was cool! It made me smile when I heard him play "A Place to Call Home" when he passed by a Steiner at the con.

Hey, Odin. *wave, wave* You're so cool. Don't ever give up your music, yo. Who knows, maybe you'll get as popular as Ramen & Rice and make thousands of dollars in tips. ^_-

Yes, insanity and talent in the hallways...the best part of cons by far.

Eh, unless I can lug around a nice baby grand as easily as a cello and violin, I don't think I'd ever become that popular (though I did make seven bucks at last year's Acen . . . hmm . . .)!

Though I CAN take my voice anywhere I go. Too bad I don't think I'd ever randomly sing as I walk through a convention. That would be weird, even for me.

*ponders* I wouldn't mind playing violin, viola, cello, or bass with you for tips. Oh and why not a keyboard(one of the really nice ones. People lug those everywhere)?

We all have to thank Violen Dude, he just made my con experience better..

And don't forget our local band.. SWEK! And I'm one of the slave supporters........ Remember when I was running around with a SWEK shirt, trying to get peoples to come to the show.. God damn I feel like an ass, but it's for a good causes....

Awesome! Actually a friend of ours that cosplayed with us really wants to try singing (She's in a band now) for next year, and I wouldn't mind doinga little violin or singing too. It would be awesome to have an all-cosplay musical event.

But then again, if you WERE able to carry a baby grand piano, you could cosplay as Raiel from Violinist of Hameln!! :D

That sounds cool. We really really should plan out an all-cosplay musical event. Violin is my main instrument too. I can't sing though, so I give pocky to Barb, and Barb's friend for having the ability to sing.

Eh, I don't like performing on electronic keyboards. There's nothing like the real thing.

And if we end up having this "musical event," I'M THERE!!!!!

the piano player you heard was most likely me. there were about 7 or 8 musicians that happened to meet up at the con, we got our hands on 2 guitars, some violins, and most importantly (to me, anyways) a keyboard, and jammed on from saturday afternoon straight til the end of the con. there were a couple of pianists, but i was the one handling the mario music, hehe. i personally was playing some instrument - i also plucked some crap out on the guitars once in a while - for about 25 hours straight. glad you enjoyed it as opposed to being annoyed! and kudos to anyone who heard us and liked it, without videogame fans, who would i have been playing for?

edit: i'm not on the cosplay.com forums much, i'm more likely to be found on the acen boards as Andrew, but i'll check back every once in a long while. or my aim sn - The Andrew Sez

Andrew!

'tis Stephen, who played with everyone at Acen '04. I almost forgot about this thread - it's from Acen 2003, though I guess a revival of the thread isn't bad.

Our three days of jamming were amazing. I hope I'll be able to show up at Anime Reactor this year!!! We also need to get everybody together for next year's Acen. Have you or Jer contacted the Director of Live Programming concerning that?

I'd reply to the majority of these posts, but...That'd take too long. I was the other musician that pulled an all-nighter, Jer.

Always a pleasure, and glad that you enjoyed the music! I can't explain how amazing those past three days were, and I'm really reluctant to go back down to earth for the time being. You guys were such a fantastic audience. I can't explain how wonderful you all were.

Stephen - Not yet. Do you REALLY want to have this in a room, though? We got so much exposure in the lobby, you know? I feel that the only request we should make is a sound system and of course, a piano. A lot of things were REALLY lacking because of it.

I'll definitely be back next year. =)

That'd be something I'd do ;P

Loved the music though. Perhaps next year we CAN get something more seriously organized.

I stopped by on Sunday morning, and signed the petition on Friday night. You guys were amazing...and if the cosplay musical thing ends up happening, I'll lend my voice, as I haven't played violin in 5 years now.

Jer - I agree that I would prefer to play in the lobby. I have the tendency to neglect panels at anime conventions, and being in the lobby just makes us more accessible for the congoers. A piano and a sound system seem reasonable, except for the fact that a sound system could cause a disturbance in the hotel since it would be in a more open area. If discussion with the staff were to start early, that might boost our chances of getting what we need. Alisa says she has a decent amount of sound equipment (check out the acen musical gathering thread), which might work anyway. We'd probably have to talk to the hotel/con staff about that anyway, however.

HEDGESMFG - After this weekend, I'm confident we could organize something seriously for next year. Now The Spoony Bards has a small but dedicated number of people, which boosts our chances of getting others involved. Hopefully next year we'll get more commitment than this year. The only big problem though is conflict with masquerade registration/events - big chances are we'll be playing at the same time as the masquerade like this year.

321stars - thanks so much for being there! New vocalists would be awesome, since some songs I would like to do (like The Best is Yet to Come) could use as many people as possible.

and I still heard you guys before i left the con and that made me wished i could come back next year. XD Thanks for playing.. it was a great night and i did not regret not having enough sleep, and hearing the Chocobo theme over and over *o*

I'll have to expand on my 'repertoire' then. ^^; But hey, it'll give me the chance to get my singing voice back in working order. I can still kick 'Simple and Clean's butt, though. ^^ And I know a -lot- of DDR songs. We should start a request thread of things people would want to hear next year or something.

Flik

Stephen - I guess more specifically, we'd a few amps. The keyboard, (I think that we could still use it, even if we did get a piano), the acoustic guitars, ESPECIALLY the singers would all need to be amped. Electrics and bassists would probably be best off bringing their own. Nothing too big, just something that would make everyone audible at the very least, halfway through the first floor while con-stuff was going on. I'll notify the LP Director when they start planning up for 2005. They're probably exhausted and want a break from all of this for awhile.

I'm glad it did. 'Tis a pleasure. Learning all that music would've been nothing if none of you wanted to hear it. I have your "PLEASE DONATE" sign over in my room. Thanks! =)

You guys were really neat. ^_^ I saw a girl playing a flute and I instantly wanted to play my flute at that moment. I'll have to remember to bring it this year or maybe a convention this year, although I highly doubt it. ^_^;;

Hey all, tis the crazy blue haired chic in the bath towel who helped you with yer petition Friday night! ^^ Thanks soooooooo much fer letting me sing Duvet with you Friday night, it made me feel special and helped prevent spaz outs on Saturday (don't ask, I've been weird in large crowds lately). And if ya'all DO do a musical thing, I can't really play instruments, but I could always lend my voice again. If all else fails, I'd be honored to be your official groupie! ^__^

FullMoonBunny - you play the flute?! I can think of a song or two that could use a nice flute . . . .

Firegirl - I know that Jer and Andrew will be at reactor. As for now, I plan on going, even if it just involves not registering and just jamming with the group.

sophmeat - do you still want the lyrics? I could PM them to you.

Megumi-san - The more vocalists the better! Same with groupies ^_^

No official planning for next year is going to take place soon, since I'm sure the Acen staff is still recovering from this year, and I know for one I need a break!

I do indeed. ^_^ Did I see you at ACen? I was Lenne and then I was Wind Pretear for the masquerade. I mainly know Final Fantasy music, but if you sent me some music, I'm sure I'd recognize it and be able to play it. ^.^

Question: I wouldn't be there for a lengthy amounts of time, would I? ^_^ I'd like to go around and take pictures as well, like every con-goer. ^_^

Aww, I hadn't looked at this thread because I never considered Para Para to be much of a talent, and finally got around to popping in to give props to Odin. Eee, our panel was a blast as usual...and we'll be sure to keep the beat pumping for years to come. All of the actual instrument/vocal musicians were INCREDIBLE. I would've contributed my voice, but everyone was so beautiful and great that it made me feel quite small. Watching made my weekend just as wonderfully..keep it up, everyone!

Man, after what you just said. I'm tempting to have a crew battle for Underground Groove (I think it was on Underground Groove). Para Para Vs. The BBoy Crew. Who would win? I'm not hating on those Para Para peoples, but I want to give the folks a show at the dances....

Now I must find a crew to make this up!...

Just in case you ask....... Yes, I watch the DVD of "You Got Served"...
