I figured it was good to post as American Idol is finishing up. Is anyone planning on going? Do you think it will be a big event?

05-22-2003, 10:58 AM
I'm a contestant, actually. ^_^ From what I know of it, there are 10 of us competing... The time is either sometime around noon or in the early evening before the masquerade... We're trying to get it in one of the bigger rooms at the convention center, but no one's confirmed. ^_^

The Otaku Idol site should be up around June 1st. ^_^ Wish I could be more helpful, but it should be fun, if nothing else. ^_^

I'm really looking forward to it. I think it'll be a big event. I guess because I liked American Idol, except they sang a massive amount of crappy songs. This will have more songs I know and more songs I like. Hope you do well n.n
hmmms I thought I read they were starting with 100 then booting 50, then keeping ten and we pick from there. ::Goes to look::

nope you were right n.n
10>5>3>2 >audience choice>winner

The song list is really good, I'm sure you won't be dissapointed. ^_^ I'm not allowed to reveal any, but if I get to the last round, I expect people to sing along at parts. ^_~ (Not giving it away, just pretty well guaranteeing people will know the song. ^ ^;;)

So the contestants were already picked? I signed up to try and get in, but I've heard nothing... You'd think they'd tell the stand-bys, too..

thanks. So I guess I am going erarly to get a good seat and getting a big orange dot.

05-28-2003, 09:52 PM
The contestants were picked just after April 15th. I assume a lot of people entered, and it's not exceptionally well organized from what I've seen... I don't even know half of my songs anymore. ^ ^;; Hehe... But it really should be fun.

Strawberry you're the only person I've heard from who's in the competition....thus, I will be your screaming fangirl! XD LOL ^_^ Good luck, I bet you'll do great!

If schedule allows it, I'll drag Hotaru and Kiro with me in to root for ya.

05-29-2003, 02:09 PM
I'd be the one shouting "WHERE THE HELL IS THE TOILET" in the audience!

05-29-2003, 02:19 PM
I really should find out what this is.. oh well.. *follows the trends*

Go Strawberry! Woooooo!

05-29-2003, 02:40 PM
Oh, well Raine, Otaku Idol is basically an American Idol spoof. ^_^ There are four rounds to competition.

Round One - Anime Song
Round Two - Anime Song
Round Three - Jpop/Jrock Song
Round Four - Contestant's Choice

I don't think we're allowed to reveal our choices or the song list, but I can guarantee that all the songs picked have been good ones. ^_^

We're eliminated based on audience opinion and the judges, depending on the round. ^_^

More information is on the site : http://www.otakon.com/happenings/happenings_karaoke_otakuidol.html

Yeah!! Go Strawberry fanclub!! ^_^ *cheers*

Sailor-Moon: I think they said on the site that the contestants should be prepared for some pretty harsh comments, cuz the judges are going to be true to Amerian Idol. So I guess so.

But if they say anything bad about Strawberry (which I doubt they will anyway) we have to boo them!! XD

06-27-2003, 05:43 AM
Good Luck! Maybe we should get our own little cheering section to cheer Strawberry on or something. XD I dunno I'm stupid.

06-27-2003, 01:55 PM
I'm probably gonna make some Strawberry banners and such, so we can all congregate and she can win by force of applause :D

06-29-2003, 01:27 PM
I don't know if I'll win, but you know what? ^_^ I'll dedicate my forth song to the Cosplay.com people. ^_~ If I make it that far, that is. *curtsies*

You guys are so awesome, I really appreciate this. ^_^

Oh and Lunas, I saw that you were looking for a karaoke version of Shell or Half-Pain and I can guarantee that there'll be at least a version of Shell at the con, because one of the OI contestants is singing it. ^_~ Not me, unfortunately, I requested it after the girl that got it. But she'll put on a good show. ^_^

Hotaru's Sister:

"Holly is a 19 year old fangirl born and bred in the city of Chicago. She currently resides in Western New York, after a brief stint in New Orleans. Her single largest love is music, ranging from true punk to classical. She likes cookies, kickboxing, collecting bladed weapons, and has an obsession with plushies that borders on the unhealthy. In her free time, she cosplays and sings (Surprised?). She has red hair. She doesn't quite know how to properly describe herself, so she will close with this classy remark - Hi mom!

Round 1: Ranma 1/2 - Koi Da! Panic
Round 2: Inu Yasha - Dearest
Round 3: Do As Infinity - Under the Sun
Round 4: Koda Kumi - Real Emotion "

Das you, right?!

Bwhaha *poke* We got your songs!
