MY roommate's dog just destroyed my copy of Poikemon Fire Red which had 140 hours on it and good pokemon. (Not to mention it also destroyed my good shoes)

Is a video game worth the jail time to wipe him off the face of the planet? I THINK SO.

F*CKING ANGRY AS HELL.

Of course it's not worth taking out your roommate.

Now, on the other hand, if your anger was directed at the DOG...

Just let it go. Action-reply all your Poke's- might not get them your EV points and you might not feel honorable doing that, but you got up there on your own accord anyways.

As much as stuff like that would piss me off too, 140 hours put into a game and lost isn't as bad as 14 hours, homeless. In other words, take a deep breath, and keep stuff in perspective. Make sure he monetarily pays you back, but otherwise, keep it stoic and keep on trainin'.

If Ash Ketchum taught me anything, it's that social problems can be solved through a friendly Pokemon battle.

...

...oh wait, you can't do that anymore...

Cream his ass in Yu-gi-oh cards, then! :D

(in all seriousness, I sympathize. I was quite distraught when my little brother accidentally saved his game when he was playing a new file on my Red. Ouch.)

Comments about getting back at the dog, no matter if they were done in jest, are pretty fucking tasteless. But yeah, you have every right to be made. Just make him buy you a new game. Any game. I suggest Steel Reign.

(100% On the dog part)

If it's any game, I suggest the Nintendo World Championship: Gold Edition cartridge for NES. Don't have an NES you say? That's fine, you can buy yourself one and a car after you resell the game.

Well, while we're at it, let's look for some of that ultra rare Shining Force love.

Is the roommate at all willing to give any sort of compensation for your loss (as in $$ for a new game at the very least)? If nothing else, you'll be able to blaze back and power game to where you were with far less gaming hours put in because you will know exactly where you were when it got digested. I know it sucks when you do that to one of your games (I just recently and inadvertantly killed a Star Ocean 2 file with level 180+ characters, unsure of game hours. I am trying to relate to your loss, but it was my dumb ass fault, not a dog's.)

What type of dog was it?

Yeah right, because cats never chew, claw, or pee on anything.

My dogs have destroyed less stuff than my cats have hands down.

Anyways, those jokes about hurting the dog aren't funny, they're sick. Like you can blame an animal for anything anyways. If you don't want something destroyed, don't leave it out where the dog can get it!

Just consider it gone and move on.

amazing how people are so much more humanitarian towards animals then people.

Um... no. Seeing an article like this on CNN so recently:

Pet Killings in Puerto Rico (http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/americas/10/12/puerto.rico.pet.massacre.ap/index.html#cnnSTCText)

It's simply a fact that animals don't value things in the way we do. :-P Roommate's dog values Arc's game as a chew toy. To not blame the animal for miscalculating the monetary/sentimental worth of an item is not exclusively displaying humanity, it's common sense.

Anyhow, these things happen, unfortunately. There's no point in pointing fingers, so just talk it over with your roommate - he controls the dog, you put your games somewhere more safe. I dunno, compromise.

Protip: This isn't Myspace. Sucks about your Pokemans, but I fail to see how that warrants a thread on the video game section on cosplay.com which has lead into a discussion about animal cruelity.

In before a mod shuts it down.

Is it necessary to start hating on cats? No. Not many cats even act like that.

Prioritize.

I've said this for years, but this thread specifically mentioned contemplating harming a dog, so your point is moot.

Yeah, yeah, double post. This'll be locked anyway.
