would anybody happen to know if there is a sewing pattern that looks close enough to Seras's shirt? (minus the high collar, belt loops and armband of course) or if not, what kind of shirt would be close enough to modify? thanks mucho.

Hiya! I'm doing a Seras myself, and I actually picked out a couple different patterns to use. Here's a pic!

http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=1288886

The primary pattern I'm using is the one on the far left, McCall's M4922. It has the structuring I need, as well as the center band for the buttons, and a shorter-length sleeve that's perfect for rolling up. The only alteration I had to make to the pattern was to ignore the curving on the sides, and keep the skirt full-length, all around. As far as the collar goes, it has the perfect shape and will sit up higher, making it easy to add that extra piece at her neck. The second pattern I bought for the pockets, but you can just make your own pockets and belt-loops.

Hope that helps!

I have used Simplicity pattern 4129 for all of my 3 Seras cosplays. It's so easy to alter and all you need to do is add the front collar. Use a heavy fabric with some substance, and I also recommend making a lining as well. <3

Bias tape is your best friend too! XD

O.o; I just ran a search for that pattern number on their site - nothing came up. Is this patten number correct?

Sorry to give a similar post (When compared to the Blood Seras thread), but here goes.

Last year I cosplayed as Seras victoria, and i had bad luck (ew.. chaffing), and that was with an almost-knee length skirt, and either tights or stockings.
I was playing with the idea of (with either costume) simply using a pair of semi-knee length (or shorther) shorts and just, in the case of Blood, was going to ratt it up so that it matched the top.

What do ya think?

Wheni did my blue one I went to some kind of... i dunno.. men surplus store and found a top almost identical to it, save for the cuffs and the collar.

Anyone know of any good fang places? :D

Yeah, I searched it too, and apparently it's out of print. I'M SO PISSED, I use it for everythingggggg.

It was a "Threads" pattern they ran for a limited time I guess. I bought about 6 copies when I first started using it because I like it so much.

But, as an alternative, I suggest going to Simplicity and getting #3628. Same "Threads" brand, just updated. Use View C or D! Sorry about the bad number, but this one is virtually the same! <333

If you go online and search for them or in any good costume store, you should be able to find "The Crow" fangs. They come in a little plastic coffin, so they're easy to recognise. They're only like $15, so it's not bad at all for their quality. They come with a little putty that you mix and put into the fang hollow, then you jam it into your mouth and after five minutes, they'll have dried and made a form around your teeth. I duely reccommend using a soft nail file to round out the top of the tooth so it doesn't hurt your gums anymore. I delt with sore gums for the longest time before I realised that the teeth are made from acrylic and could be easily modified.
As for Seras' skirt, even if it's not your favorite, I reccomend keeping it short, and acutally making it a skirt. No shorts allowed, lol. Long socks and a long skirt will hide all of your shape and not look like the character. If you shorten the skirt, and wear socks that come above your knees, it'll lengthen your legs and make your wips have a nice curve. I hate my legs because they're short, but I learned to love them because of this costume, lol. Also, it usually works well to have a high waistline, having it reach your belly button above your hips so it can be hidden under the jacket.
As for her armband, I used the manga version where it had a tab that buttoned to the jacket sleeve. I have both the blue and red version, and for the blue, it was just a cuff floating on my sleeve, and I spent the entire con pulling it up and back into place. By making the button tab, I don't have that issue anymore and the small detail makes it look sharp.
For the jacket buttons, I spend a lot of time hunting down a great button for blood Seras. I actually went to Michaels and got snap buttons for jeans. They're beautiful with a lot of detailed decoration, yet are small and muted in color, so they don't overwhelm the uniform.
The belt I placed directly under my breasts, so it looks more like the manga, but a small secret I have is the fact that I am only a B cup. However, by putting the belt under my brests, it sinches the jacket and makes my breasts look a lot bigger. Then on top of that, I keep my cell phone and money in the breast pockets, which just adds to size.
Oh, I know this message has gone on forever, but for her wig, I shopped on amphigatory and got this great wig for only a little money and it looks fabulous. I didn't even have to style it and this wig can take some abuse! It's not as spiky as Seras' hair, but I feel it's a great translation into what she may look like in the real world without looking like a goon. http://www.amphigory.com/wigs_flippy_l.html
If anyone has any more questions, feel free to pm me or check out my gallery for referances. I've been cosplaying as Seras for three years now and her costume has metamorphasized many times, but I can say that I love cosplaying her and have gotten so much more comfortable with myself since wearing it. It's a absolutely fabulous costume.

I know that it would be accurate to have a skirt, but frankly, I'd rather have the look more comfrtoble than accurate, you know?
>.> I mean, no offense or anything..
I'm just hoping soneone dosen't be a jerk about it. Last year i had an orange wig, some guy screamed "SERAS DOSEN'T HAVE ORANGE HAIR!"

My thought is: I'll try the tattered-ish shorts at ACEN, and if they work well, I'll try it again at AI. My main problem is the Arm >.> any ideas?

Well, if you read farther into the manga, around book 9 or ten, Seras gets into a fiht with Captain, and forms her wing back into a arm. It's a entirely normal arm and hand, just black. In order to do blood Seras, wore black gloves, then just took an old pair of black nylons and cut it up so I had an arm warmer. It was simple, took three minutes, and had all of the look I needed. It would drive me crazy to impare one of my arms all day, so this suited me much better. I wore this at ALA, so hopefully I'll have some photos of it up soon.

Hey, I was looking at wigs for Seras (Blood) and was looking at the Scruffy in Cosworks in the Auburn Blonde.

If your thighs are close togethor, I reccomend at least a small pair of shorts otherwise you might chafe, which is uncomfortable.

Hey, I was looking at wigs for Seras (Blood) and was looking at the Scruffy in Cosworks in the Auburn Blonde.

I used Cosworx Lydia (I think that's the right wig* And it's almost perfect. The only styling I have to do is some minor spiking, but it's already got the shape and length. I bought mine in butterscotch blonde.

Hmm. It is a cool wig, from what I saw. I might go with the Scruffy, seeing as it looks like it dosen't require that much styling. *Ish lazy*
I was also looking at the color contacts here

I like the Amber Max or the Violet Rose Bella... Whaddya think?

Yeah, that's the one I prefer :P so what if it dosen't look "Natural"
What color do you think the Scruffy should be? I think Amber Blonde (or whatever it's called) might be realistic, though I want this to be -fairly- accurate.
Hopefully it'll make up for the fact that I refuse to wear that short of / a skirt :P
