Last week,GHIII was released and fans went nuts. However, what does the GH franchise mean to you?Has it inspired you to take up guitar?Or has it become a gaming classic?

Why not we start by talking about our favorite tracks from the games? When referring to a song, say what chapter its from.If a bonus song is listed, say 'Epilogue' next to it.Here's an example:

Chapter 3-Search and Destroy

That's how it works.

GHII Favorites:

Chapter 1-Shout at the Devil,Surrender,Woman,Mother
Chapter 2-Heart Shaped Box,Strutter,Message in a Bottle,You Really Got Me
Chapter 3-Monkey Wrench(^.^),Search and Destroy

That's all I remember...

Epilogue-Jordan,Yes We Can,Thunderhorse

GHIII Demo Favorites:
Even Flow and that song by The Scorpions

So,have fun, rock out and...rock out some more!We can talk about characters we hate, like, etc.Just keep to the topic of GH.Thanks!

1. Where the hell did "Epilogue" come from?

2. The song by The Scorpions is "Rock You Like a Hurricane."

3. Did you just start playing GH II?

4. I have to go home and replay them before I can contribute.

First question:I call the bonus section that, for a little amusement. You can flame me if you want.*puts up some of Fox's reflectors*
Second Question:Thank you!^.^ That song is so kick@$$!
Third Question:Indeed.I started playing probably a few weeks ago.Played it on and off during the summer.
Fourth Question:Go ahead.

I find the new songs put on there by non-too-famous artists are usually my favorite. End of the world, Jordan, Trogdor, You and Me, Thunderhorse, those are usually the songs I'll play first If I just want to have some fun. Though I'm also partial to the beast and the harlot.

GHI - I really dig Smoke on the Water. It's usually my warmup song.

GHII - Most of the setlist escapes me at the moment. I thought GHI had the superior selections and covers; my ears are still bleeding from the cover of Sweet Child o' Mine.

Misirlou, though a fun one-trick pony, is a source of irritation because I keep trying to play it the way I hear it and haven't figured out exactly what the game wants of me on expert mode. God bless practice-mode.

80's & GHIII - Don't have a TV currently to play either. Bummer.

I have actually suggested the game to some of my music students who need help building their rhythm and timing skills. I draw the line, however, at playing during lessons. ;P

Oh, god, Trogdor is now in my head again.

My sister got Guitar Hero for the Wii. I've only played it a couple time at her place, so forgive me for not stating which chapter these songs came from.

Cherub - Smashing Pumpkins
Metal - Tenacious D
Even Flow - Pearl Jam
My Name is Jonas - Weezer

Those are so fun to play on Medium. ^^

Personally, I think the best songs on 3 are:

"Impulse"
"F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X."
The Killswitch Engage song
and yes...
"Raining Blood"

The rest of the set-list/bonus songs son't really do much for me though.

Alright, so last night, I got the most in hands time with the game that I've had to date. I went of a friend of mine's house (DizzyGuyemef) and we played co-op career, and then he let me borrow it and I beat half of career on hard this afternoon.

Guitar Hero 2 is better than Guitar Hero 3.

One of the biggest faults that GH3 has is that a lot of the songs are made solely with co-op in mind. There a bunch of songs that have long long long pauses where the base keeps going and the guitar sections do nothing. These are not the kinds of songs that should be in GH. On top of which, there are a lot of songs that have FAR more difficult bass sections than when compared to the guitar sections.

The difficulty of the game ramps up REALLY quickly too. On co-op career, we had no problems cutting through the game until hitting Metallica's One. That song was like a brick wall, who's difficulty hadn't even come close to revealing itself until reaching that song. Every other song seemed like it belonged on a lower difficulty.

The bonus songs aren't as good as they were in GH2 or for that matter GH1. There are some great songs like FCPR remix and the NAAST song, but other than that, there's just nothing there, for me anyway.

And the biggest problem this game has is the new style. I knew that when Activision bought out Red Octaine, there would be a certain change to the game. Thankfully it didn't come in the formula of gameplay, but everything that made GH querky is gone. This game seems like a brazen oversexualization of the rock industry, and it sucks. Judy Nails and Casey Lynch have been changed from slightly altered variations of female singers to trashy representations of what exactly is wrong with MTV now a days. Their attitude has been completely lost and they were basically there for the eyecandy. The omition of Pandora, at least in my eyes, is an unexcusible slight. The new hidden characters are also fairly lame. The robot from lost in space, an elvis impersonator and freakishly wrong looking representations of tom morello and Slash simply don't cut it when compared to the characters in the first two games who are returning. The only one that's a fairly good addition, is Lou, and that's because it holds to the rock and roll element found in GH1 and 2.

I'm pretty dissapointed in GH3. I don't like the direction it's headed on and given it's success, it doesn't look like it's gonna change. So It looks like I'm hoping on the Rock Band bandwagon.
