theres really only a few songs id buy it for and honestly, it isnt enough. Lots of emo and hair metal that id like to never have to deal with.

To each their own, but I think a lot of people forget they tried to chose the best all around set-list, as it's not just guitar this time. Plus it has "Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld" :D

Pfft, I guess we'll have our fair share of joke songs as well.

Well that's not a bad thing. Trogdor is one of my favorites on GH2

I got a chance to play the demo at Walmart and it is t3h fr34k1n r0xx0rz. I love that it has a full size guitar. I didn't really like the Guitar Hero guitars, they were too small. The drums are even more awesome. It makes me wonder why they even made Guitar Hero to begin with. They should have just started wih Rock Band. I can't wait to pick it up.

Because you have to start somewhere. Plus, I doubt Rock Band would do as well if it didn't have the fame of Guitar Hero 1 and 2 behind it. I sorely doubt people would be willing to spend 170 dollars on a game no one had ever heard of.

I got to play around with Rock Band for a while at Anime USA this weekend and was VERY impressed. It played really well, and while the song selection was uneaven, the best ones are fantastic.

One thing I'm not digging is the vocals, though. With enough practice, just about anyone could get compitend with the instruments, but a number of these songs have vocals that are just beyond some people's range (like, say, me) and there doesn't seem to be anything you can do about it. But hey, it's supposed to be a BAND, after all. Everyone doesn't have to be able to do everything...

Bought the game tonight at midnight.

Game of the year...easy...hands down...no contest.

Yes, it's that good.

I'll be picking mine up today, hopefully, provided the truck carrying them didn't crash and and explode in a fiery wreck.

You and your statement that make sense. Darn you. j/k

I picked mine up this morning. I had to take my friend around town to find one for him, because he didn't pre-order. Thankfully the Best Buy in town had more than enough on hand.

Here's a question...

Can anyone effectively play the drums on expert yet? I mean, I can do a few songs (Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Radiohead, etc...) but Queens of the Stone Age DESTROYED me...

Actually, I'm more so curious as to if you have prior drumming experience if it's actually easier...cause it's a bitch on expert...lol.

From what I've heard, playing the drumset is actually a lot like playing the real drums, and being able to keep a second beat is probably the most important aspect of both.

Question about the downloadable content. Will the songs only be available for that week, or are they going to stay once they've been added? I'm not buying it right away, and I'll be a sad panda if I miss out on I Fought The Law and Synchronicity II.

Also, I'd like to see them offer some more tracks from female vocalists. I'm a girl with a pretty deep voice, but I'm worried that some songs will be out of my range too. I think I can only remember one song announced with a female vocalist (the Pretenders). Well... I guess Tom Sawyer could count, but still... XP

There's actually a fair amount of female vocals in the game, and if you can sing Shirley Manson-style deep (Garbage's lead singer) you're good ;-)

"I Think I'm Paranoid" is actually one of the songs in the track list.

I've played through about 36 of the tracks so far, and I'm pretty impressed. Except for a few songs here and there, mainly the "Impossible" songs, I like most of the music. I'm only at medium level right now. I tried one song on hard and I failed out so I went back down.

About those "Impossible" songs. I don't know why they call them Impossible. They aren't hard. They're just too damn long, and not really that good. Maybe it stands for: Impossible to play without having thoughts of suicide or; Impossible to stay awake during one of the many large gaps of actual music.

I finished the guitar career last night (all 52 songs) on expert and now it's on to drums (hard of course...:p)

The last tier of songs for guitar is pretty rough...Green Grass is no joke. Those 4 minute solo's can really do ya in.
