I'm a huge fan of m-flo. They're my favourite Japanese music artists. But they're not classified as J-pop or J-rock. They are J-hip hop. Just to clarify, they haven't broken up. It was only one of the members of the group, LISA, who left in 2002 to pursue a solo career as well as be a music producer. Verbal and Taku the other 2 members are still going strong and just released another CD titled "COSMICOLOR" in late 2006. Plus they're always working on independent solo projects as well. LISA also reunited with the group to record "Tripod Baby" for their 2005 CD "Beat Space Nine".

Hooray for J-Hop fans!

I got this massive comp. last year called "M-flo Turns it Out" off of my friend's ex-husband. It rocks pretty hard. A lot of collabarations with some traditioanlly "J-Pop" artists like Crystal Kay. Pretty good stuff IMO.

I agree w/ you. M-Flo has a lot of very good songs. I also like Rip Slyme, so it was only natural that I like the Teriyaki Boyz when they came out (Teriyaki Boyz has 2 Rip Slyme members in it and Verbal from m-flo.) XD

Ugh, I find it funny and really dumb that I've had Cosmicolor for a looong time but I've YET to listen to the album. It's in my hard drive, but I don't have a computer at my house to listen to since I came to japan. I'm gonna try and find SOME way to listen to it; Beat Space Nine was a bit of a disappointment(..compared to Astromantic anyway), and I really liked their song with Bonnie Pink.

Hi Guys, random m-flo junkie here~
AND LIES AND SLANDER.
ASTROMANTIC OWNS ALL OF YOUR SOULS. Although I still loved Cosmicolor and Beat Space Nine. Cosmicolor best song was probably Luvotomy if you ask me or maybe Love to Live By~
...
-plays some m-flo- =D

I'm sorry, but even though Beat Space Nine was still great, I just didn't like it compared to Astromantic. Here's the thing: Expo Expo was my favorite m-flo album back when I first heard it and it was really hard to top it..

..then came Astromantic. Every song felt different from not only their last album, but also from each other. All the songs were enjoyable to me(in particular, Miss You, Starstruck, Vanessa, Way U Move, The Love Bug, Life is Beautiful, and REEEWIND!). It became my new favorite.

Then they released Beat Space Nine. It was still nice, but I only really enjoyed three songs: Taste Your Stuff, So Exclusive, and Tripod Baby. All the other songs were good, but just lacked..SOMEthing. They felt a bit ho-hum.

You know, I had similar opinions to what you described too. I didn't like Beat Space Nine as much as the other two at first, but I have to say that I found with repeated listenings, I got to like it more and more. And now I really like the majority of the songs on there. It just took a little longer for them to grow on me.^^

Dude, an m-flo thread? In cosplay.com's forum? IT'S MORE LIKELY THAN YOU THINK. 8DDD

I've like them for a couple years now. Managed to get a bunch of my friends to like them too. X3 Best part of all, if you play their album(s) in the ghetto, no one looks at you weird because they assume it's normal Hip-Hop!

No lie, we tested out this theory and it worked. XD
