Ok so I'm playing the first Xenosaga, and I'm stuck at a hard boss, so I'm trying to put Shion in her A.G.W.S. so she can attack better, and the AGWS has 1200 HP. Well when Shion goes into her AGWS, her HP goes down to only 26 for some reason and she keeps dying. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Edit-I just tried it with Chaos too and his HP goes down to 1 xD

The only really annoying boss I remember from the first game was when the unmanned mechs that were chasing the Elsa through hyperspace boarded it, the boss is DOMO Carrier.

The thing to watch is at the very start of the battle, the event slot. DOMO analyzes the current event slot. If it lands on the 'Blank' or the 'Special Points UP' icon, that's the best situation you can hope for. When ever it uses it' special Temor P, the current event slot will automatically switch to the one it analyzed at the start. So from what you are saying, most likely you've been getting it when it analyzes "Boost Rate Up' or "Critical Hit Rate Up'. Meaing it can use it's special twice as often or for double power, respectively. The special it gets is random. So most often the best thing to do is reset and go in again hopeing for the two specials which don't increase it's attack in some way.

I hope that this was the boss you were talking about :) . If not which one?

No, it's the final boss on the Cathedral Ship. It's not that I need help beating it, I just don't understand why my HP is dropping down to like 1 when I get into an A.G.W.S. unit.

That is odd I'm not too sure, I don't remember that problem.

Are you going into the A.G.W.S. at the start of battle? It's been a long time, but I think I defeated the two side creatures to the sides of Gargoyle before I entered the A.G.W.S. and focued on him.

One of the guides online said to beat those first, but I'm still having trouble surviving that long even though I'm the recommended level. That's why I'm trying to use the AGWS at the beginning, but it makes almost all of my HP go away. I think it's a glitch?

Hmm, a glitch...possible, sounds like it...but I don't think so...

I just checked aswell (still have game & save data).

Ok KOS-MOS and Shion were lvs 15 and chaos was 16. I got rid of the side bosses and then Guarded > W-ACT with A.G.W.S. Shion's A.G.W.S. has two axes, cuz boss weak to slash/lighting, so that did 1000+ each time. chaos' A.G.W.S. had ranged weapons so did moderate dmg so was only support. The key is at the beginning. As I have both Shion and KOS-MOS able to Medica All.

Edit: Important thing I noticed, forgot to mention, KOS-MOS' Medica recovered 272, while Shion's only recovered 220.

That sounds like a very good strategy :D But it won't work until I figure out why my HP almost hits 0 when I get into the AGWS lol.

Hmm...

Gargolye hit the A.G.W.S for between 120-170 (while guarding) each time when it used it's lance attack. Best way to find out if it's a glitch is get your hands on another copy of the game.

Going to 0 right at start, could be a glitch :lost:.

Is it new or used? (Mostly liked used I'm guessing).

It is most definately used, lol. I just started playing it again a few days ago, but I bought it months ago. I remember that most of the time when I got in the AGWS that the HP shot up, but I think I possibly recall it causing my HP to go down like right before I had stopped playing... I have like 5 friends that have the game as well, so I'll probably just have to borrow it from one of them.

That's good that you can borrow one. Try it out, this is interesting indeed. I'm curious to know the results.

Ok so I was playing around with items and clicked Frame Repair. Apparently my frame repair was damaged, and that's why the HP was at one? So I love how none of my friends knew what was wrong either, this is the most confusing game I've EVER played, LOL.

:bigtu: Awesome...

Ya, you have to repair the A.G.W.S between battles.

Ok, if the A.G.W.S is defeated in a battle that you wind up winning, the next fight, if unrepaired, it will be at 1 HP. It's always the simplest solution isn't it lol. Remember to reapir and tune-up your machines every chance you get, keep them top of the line :) .

That battle was irritating, but not too bad! I was tanking him with Shion's AGWS and it wouldn't let me use the W-ACT so I guess I don't have both of the axes equipped or something, but by the time I decided to put Chaos in an AGWS too, KOS-MOS pwned the monster lol.

And 30 minutes later the cutscenes finish, I can save, and go to bed. xD

Ya, you need both hands to be carring the same weapon (dual-wield) in order to use W-ACT. Can be melee or ranged weapons. Congrats on fixing your problem :bigtu:.
