As I recall, last year my friend got the tickets off of ticketmaster.

Does that help?

"Part 04: Where can I get Advance Tickets?
Regular admission tickets are only available at the door on the days of the Expo's operation."

Yanked that off of their FAQ (http://www.hobbystar.com/TO-CNAnime/faq.html)

Yeah that whole ticketmaster stuff was a pain in the ass... I'd rather just wait in the 'long ass' line... the people you meet there... great way to start off the weekend.

Last year it wasn't fun to stand in line because I was only with my dad and knew no one there at all, but since I'm going with people now, I can see how it can be fun o.O; *shrugs*

Last year a friends of mine ordered our tickets online. He was an idion though and bought the *wrong* ticket thinking it was some advances early bird price (he bought the ones for the comic expo instead). In the end we had to go through alot of crap to get the tickets that we *really* wanted, which included waiting in the advanced line and then waiting around for some dude to fix everything in the *other* line. :: sigh :: it would have been alot faster if we had gotten it right in the first place but over all I have to say that if your willing to pay the extra dollar or two for the ticketmaster fees, then it's ALOT faster to order your tickets online.
J, but I came back and waited in line w/ you. We were even saving a place at the beginning of the dealers room line for you and Steve-Dave... 'cept for that stupid dude who yelled out "When can we go in?!" If he hadn't have done that you guys would have had time to catch up w/ us.... :(

The last thing I'd want to do is book a hotel, get dressed up, only to find out that there are no tickets left when I get there!

Yup... I only buy the anime pass because... it gets me into everything! So you get them at the door... day of the convention... and selling out is something that I have never seen happen in my 5+ years of going there... room capacity issues have occured in stuff like Video Rooms and the Masq... but the masq problems might disapper with the use of the huge Theatre in the convention this year... Don't worry, there will be tickets there!

I would offer to buy you one and hold it for you... but chances are I'm most likely to be late... (Although sometimes through not fault of my own...)

Every year I go... it always seem some interesting characters are near me in the line to get tickets... and although sometimes scary, very entertaining.

Plus we would have been able to meet up with you if Crystal Wilson had a heart... yeah if you read this Crystal... I mean it! Take your box of souls and beat it!:crylaugh:

I spoke too soon... it seems that there WILL be online ticket sales this year... but it might not be through ticketmaster... info is said to be coming this/next week... I'll keep my eyes peeled.

As show through here
http://hobbystar.com/TO-CNAnime/ticketinfo.html

Hmmm...
I got my email back about video game content and the masq from Mr. James Armstrong (Event Coordinator)

When I asked about the fact that on the ticket price for the Anime pass it includes: Video Games, as part of the package... I asked if this year Video games will get a sperate room and will any type of DDR/Para Para content be available (as in coin-ops)

'we are trying to get a coin
operated video arcade set up for the weekend, but we will definately
have X-Box, and Playstation at the show again.'

Secondly I addressed the gripes of many about the distance to Bloor Cinema... and moving it to the John Basset theatre (where it seems the masq is this year) or Paramount.

'The John Bassett may be
used for the Masquerade, but the Bloor Cinema will still be used for
the movies simply due to the equipment require.'

Hmmm... win some...

I sent another email to someone else... I forget who... but when I get it back, I'll give a rundown of its detials.

Thats typical Justin! Always blaming other people for being late!

As for the Crystal comment, Funny funny stuff! I hope shes not a Poster or she will suck you into her box and you will never get out!

Woo HOO on the John Basset Theatre....BOO on the Bloor (though I cant blame their reasoning...Bloor is one of the only theatres downtown capable of playing 16mm, 35mm, DVD, Vhs and SVHS..and pretty much every other format)

As for the ARCADE...they better get some DDR coin Op Machines...IF not Im bringing my DDR pad and kicking some SERIOUS butt in the PS2 room!

Whos with me??

Anyways info on the ticket purchasing... its still going to be $40 (to my knowledge). Tickets go on sale on June 20th.

Tickets will be availble via 'Ticket Express' which I can't find any info on... tickets priot to the event will be sold online.

Thats all the news I have this week.

Thats why I sleep with Garlic and have silver plated shoes to kick her in the knees if she tries to get me! Plus she doesn't post here nor has the time... her evil duties have kept her busy as of late.

They've never had a PS2 room... just those booths and that XBOX room truck last year. But I remember some people playing DDR on a PSone in the lobby and by the video rooms.

Either way I shall find some way (even if it means making a trip to yonge st) To play some DDR!

As for the ticket selling, it still says on the Hobbystar website that it will be through ticketmaster.ca, as will the NIMOY and Sunndale Central ones, so who knows!

I did read that you get a free HULK watch if you pay through the HOBBYSTAR website for a COMIC BOOK EXPO pass only...But it says there that you have to pay through the HOBBYSTAR website...So who knows how they are selling em online

Guess we will all just have to wait and see

It seems you have 2 methods of buying your tickets....

1) Via Hobbystar's website:
Hobbystar CNanime Ticket sales (https://secure.e-registernow.com/cgi-bin/mkpayment.cgi?state=152)

-OR-

2) Ticketmaster
Ticketmaster ticket site (http://www.ticketmaster.ca/cgi/venues_ca.idc?type=VENUE&venuenum=28&vaxname=TOR&state=ON&city=)

so is there an advanced online ticket line?

i bought my ticket..but it still needs to be "scanned" it says...
so what's the point of having to lining up for 3 hours again?!?!

elchubbo
07-07-2003, 09:56 PM
If you buy it online, they USUALLY (key Word) have a seperate line thats way shorter where u just exchange your ticket for the pass one

So thats the advantage of buying it online. But then some years (like last year), They werent ready at all, and had all these people that bought the wrong tickets that had to exchange em and stuff didnt go as fast as it should have!

yeah i had to wait for 3 hours in line last year

Kia

Were you in the short line or the one that went around the entire convention center? The pre-paid short line was very quick.

lainey
07-08-2003, 04:33 PM
the one that went alllllllll around the convention centre lol
thank goodness...i was semi-early...and beat the second loop around

it was too long..they should have separate lines for the anime con...since it is time sensitive (all of the activities and stuff).

I waited two hours and a half in line last year. X.x; That's my fault for going to it in the afternoon XD;

Okay, my pockets are going to hurt this time around. I recall ticket prices to be lower last time I went. But ah well. If that's what it takes to get in.
