i am in the process of making, or at least designing a link costume and i need to make a sword that is manageable, but also looks good and is durable. anyone who has any personal experience in this feel free to lend your knowledge to me.
thanks

Wood. Just carve it out of wood. Use a jigsaw to cut the basic shape out, then use a... it's not a hack saw, it's kinda like one, only with a thinner blade, like only a wire for it... then, lots of sanding. If you have access to one of those Dremmel (sp?) tools, those are really handy. Then, after it's all carved and sanded, paint it!

agreed. draft it out.... (as in figure out the dimensions first..)
and then start cutting.. so u can make sure its
porportional to yourself. ^_^

but since the sword is going to be about as tall as me, won't it be sort of heavy? just wondering...

i believe the tool you are refering to is a 'coping saw'. we used them alot in woodshop class.

i did a really cool looking master sword, i used foam paper. u can find these in an art supply store, the paper have foam inside, they r really easy to cut if u have a box cutter and SUPER CHEAP. make the blade first and paint it with acrylic paint(its the best) and then make handle. the handle may be hard to make :untrust: i got so pissed, then glue the two together  it only took me one day to make. thats how i make my master sword
