View Full Version : The vampire Lestat

Okay, so they're not a real band, but they're good. It's a band made for Queen of the damned (the movie). Jonathan Danvies of KoRn does Lestat's lyrics and the music is done by different bands, souch as Marilyn Manson and Chester from Linkin Park. You can listen to the songs and watch the videos if you go to www.queenofthedamned.com ,enter the flash site and press Sex, Blood & Rock n Roll. Most of the songs are also on the movie.

Who likes them. I love them, Jonathan has souch an amazing voice.

The music was the only thing about the movie that I didn't object to. I thought it fitted the movie well and stayed true enough to Rice's novel not to offend.

Stuart Townsend is a gorgeous guy, but he's NOT Lestat material.

I didn't like most of the movie, but i did like the score. It matched the film well.

But i can't listen to the CD alone... I always picture a 12 year old sitting alone in their room thinking "Yes! I am a vampire! I am a creature of the night! Lestat understands meeeee!" and putting on their hot-topic fangs. ^^;;

Hmm...I watched the movie once... ^^ The guy who play's Lestat is very hot...XD

But aside my pervy thoughts...the music is cool! Me rikey. XD

Ahh...hehe, yea...^^;

I didn't really have much interest in KoRn and other rock/alternative type groups until this movie. If there was anything decent in the movie it was the music... I love practically every song from the soundtrack! It's all just so fitting... even though I wasn't expecting this to be the sound of the music after reading the book, it's fitting to the current time and I accept... I just wanted more cool, out-of-range vampire vocals. O.o

the noyl thing i hated in the movie was that it was not loyal to the book at all...

I normally don't listen to that type of music, but I found it to fit in with the movie quite well, I kinda liked it ^^

I like the music they used for the movie, it really fits in with Queen of the Damned.

This is basically every band I love....which Means I'm biased but I think this is the best CD ever and just about everyone I put it on for has liked it even though many people dont necessarily like this type of music.

hmm this is a old post but i just noticed it

from a Anne rice novel fan's perspective, i'm sorry, but i loathed that movie T_T;;
the soundtrack was very nice beacuse i liked all the bands invovled in that, but the thing is, it really donest completely fit it..
for one lestats' band was in the late 80's..not exactly....Korn/Marilyn Manson stuff.. T_T;;
and i've always imagined lestat to sound more like something like from Malice Mizer or Lariene or something, simply because he incorportated old Classical/romantic period music w/ rock guitars/basses

urg. *end of rant*

stuart would've made a better louis >_>;;;
what i dont understand about that movie is...
it probably cost a lot to blow up those amps and such
but they dindt bother bleach stuarts/ hair or buy him a 40 dollar pair of blue contact lenses? also for Marius T_T;;
and armand...*shuts up quickly* T_T

*scuttles away*

Er, Lestat is not blue-eyed but grey-eyed, and his eyes tend to reflect the colours that surround him. They chose not to perform 80s-style music, it does not disturb me that much - the most important thing was to have something noisy enough to wake up Akasha, and to a modern ear 80s metal does not sound that noisy... but Korn and Marilyn Manson do provide the appropriate feeling.

If there was an important mistake, to me it was to cast a tanned-skin woman as Akasha. She's supposed to have had fair skin from the beginning, not being the African type, and to have become a pure white with time.

Sorry, I snipped the rest because I'm pretty much replying to the whole thing anyway... well, as for the music, I have no problem with them changing it up.. well, I wish the vocals would have been better (especially during the concert scene) given that Lestat can hit those super-octaves (like they did in Fifth Element)... but he has to be a creature of the times, and that is the music of now... if I am happy about any change, it is that Lestat isn't wearing a Dracula tuxedo suit. ^^;;

Now, just to briefly get a bit OT... yes, the movie sucked on so many levels... not just by how different it is from the book and how ugly nearly every character was from what they were supposed to be (poor Armand, maybe they'll get you right one day)... my main complaint is how they screwed over Lestat's personality totally to "Hollywood" the storyline into a crappy girl-stalks-boy romance. Good Lord, the book would have been just fine without Jesse because of her lack of importance... but look at the movie. Anyway, they could have spent more on the contact lenses but all of the money went into that really horrible Akasha death scene... ~_~;;

(lol) about teh dracula suit ,, i suppose its better he's not flouncing around on stage

about lestats' eyes..

in the beginning it said it was blue, but reflected the colours around him, then in another it said it was a pale grey but looked blue..so who the hell knows..
and i dont know if anyone else noticed this
but wasn't Daniel...didnt he have brown hair? in blood and gold he had blonde hair O_o;;;
whtuever who knows >_>;;;

the whole casting ...not only was akasha very tan, but every single one of them was incorrect!! except maybe jesse?

*thinks about the girl-stalks-boy romance stuff..
was it just me..or did Spider Man Lestat scare any of u? >_<;;;;;

Poor Daniel.. I just read The Vampire Armand and was upset to see him thrown away so easily... I thought he was cute with Armand. Ugh... he has blonde hair in Blood and Gold? I still need to read it... he definitely is brown haired in QotD.

I hate to admit it, but even though Marius didn't have shoulder-length blonde hair and blue eyes, I still liked him. ^^;; Probably because Vincent Perez is really that good.. The Akasha thing really did anger me... but then, they really didn't follow much of any of the rules and process of being a vampire in the movie... so why bother making her like porcelain? ~_~ I was laughing at Spiderman Lestat... I was REALLY laughing during the flying sequences... dude, it's really sort of a super-long jump (that can cover oceans) by the way it sounded in the book.

This is what happens when you don't accept Anne's free screenplay. ^^;;
