Larger versions of the MS Pro Duo are out, and still larger versions coming out.

8GB (Pro Duo) - These came out over a week ago. Online retailers have the SanDisk version as cheap as $90 at some locations.

16GB (Pro Duo Mark2) - Sony will be rolling these out initially online only on March 1st, for the hefty price of $299. Allow a month or two for widespread availability, and competition from SanDisk, to drop the prices a bit.

32GB (Pro Duo HG) - Release is set for sometime in 2009, with no pricing announced as of yet. Given the downward trend in memory pricing, and Sony's initial high price, $499 my best guess. Again, that's MY uneducated guess.

Anyway, I tend to backup my movies/PS1 games on my PC, so an 8GB would be all I need to travel with. I just copy what I want for the day or trip, and replace with something else when done.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, firmware older than 3.80 (I think that's when the change went in, someone correct me) cannot address more than 4GB of space on an MS. 3.80 and 3.90 can address, in theory, 2TB (1TB with signature verification). So if you're using older firmware, it's time to upgrade, or get the custom firmware patch that allows for larger MS on older firmware :)

These prices will drop expodientially over the next year. I would wait until summer to get an 8gig memory card.

Meanwhile, you can get a 4 gig memory card for 38 dollars at frys.

I remember paying $100 for my 1 gig back when it first came out, then got a 2nd one with my slim PSP. Right now I'm trying to be patient. I'm tired of having to swap 2 sticks to play FF7. I want to get the right amount of memory at a price that won't infuriate me.

I'm not waiting for 32GB. I'm debating on 8gig now for $90, or 16 gig when it hits $200. I'm leaning towards the latter.

Well, there's always the HDD mod too. You'll have to take out the umd drive.

Hey, welcome back Medion! Haven't seen you in a while.

I've got a gig, and I'm pretty happy with that. I don't play my PSP nearly enough to warrant anything more than that.

Been traveling, a LOT. Anyway, 1 gig was more than enough for me for just playing PSP games. Wipeout is the only game I have with any downloadable content.

But for loading PS1 games, it just doesn't cut it. The eboot for FF7 is over 1.5 gig by itself. I also like having my SegaCD classics on it (Lunar and EB, Vay, Dark Wizard, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch video CD, etc.).

So I'm looking at the 8 or 16 gig, and just load the games I plan to play in the near future, keeping my collection backed up on my HDD.

Was kidding about Marky Mark btw.

Just a correction on an earlier post.

If you intend to use a memory stick larger than 4GB, you must have either Sony's official firmware (2.81 or higher), or a custom firmware patch.

Google "Dark Alex" if you need the custom firmware patch.
