So,choose Zelda or Sheik for Z/S<-No transforming or changing around
Squirtle,Charizard or Ivysaur for PT<-Same as above
Samus or Zero Suit Samus<-Same as above

It's your tournament, so your rules, but I was rather curious as to what the reasoning was for this? Changing Pokemon is pretty integral to playing Pokémon Trainer, and can be viable for Zelda/Shiek as well. I've just never encountered this kind of rule before and so I was curious as to the reasoning.

In regards to this as well, what of issues such as: When a Pokémon dies, it automatically switches to the next one? Switching back is what I assume you would have them do, so long as the opponent doesn't attack, but that also wastes clock time especially in a 3 minute match.

If playing Samus or Zero Suit, what of the Smash Ball? Are we saying they're not allowed to use it then? That's a huge disadvantage.

Zelda/Shiek is the only I can really see working, but even then I'd be concerned about accidentally hitting down+b and getting disqualified for it.

I don't mean to come off as questioning your rules, but I'd just like to clear this up.

Regardless, Black Mage, Zelda [Default Color]

Nice to see some people wanting to compete in this! However,if I don't get 10 or so registered by tournament weekend,I'll move the date until a later time.

However,May 15th is the last date I'll be moving this up to.

Thank you.

I too was hoping for more of a response, but there is still a little time before the tourney. Just a suggestion...I know you wanted to do 4p ffa matches, but, if we don't get enough participants, we should probably 1 on 1 to increase size of the brackets. Another way to extend it would be a 1 on 1 double elimination. Of course that's getting a little complicated, but it's an idea.

I might consider doing that after this week if I don't get enough people.BTW,what's a double elimination?

Okay guys. You heard the Reaper. We're going into 1 on 1 matches starting next week if we don't get any fresh blood into the tournament.

So...ENTER...NOW!

JaxReaper

In a doube elimination you have to lose twice before you are ejected from the tournament. It can be a little confusing, so we should probably jsut stick with a standard tournament.

Count me in. FC... I'll use my JP system. 1418-5990-4847

Can 'Random' be my character?
If not, white Lucario >.>

Also, Pokemon Trainer, you literally cannot limit to one Pokemon.
Each Pokemon has a stamina limit of 2min, with 1sec reduced from that time for every smash attack they use. They gradually deteriorate over time, and HAVE to be switched around.

Black Waltz
04-08-2008, 01:39 PM
While you don't have to switch your Pokemon after two minutes, you are certainly at a disadvantage. However, as mentioned earlier, dying will result in a switch.

I also realize I forgot to put up my Friend code: 5455-9062-3380 (BMage)

I'll type in who is entering as who while you provide the Friend Codes.Hope it won't bother you.

Sorry I didn't answer your im's last night TRL. I was playing Halo3 and didn't hear or check aol before I went to sleep.

Quick suggestion Acme. Since there are only 4 players, we should probably do a round robin style tournament. In this style, everyone would fight againt everyone else and then the two players with the best record would battle it out for first.

In this case the tourney would go like this:

Round 1:

BlackWaltz vs. Quantam9

Zashi vs. Oshi

Round 2:

BlackWaltz vs. Zashi

Quantam9 vs. Oshi

Round 3:

Quantam9 vs. Zashi

Blackwaltz vs. Oshi

Final Round:

? vs ?

I only suggest this because if we do a standard bracket tournament than there will only be 3 matches. Round robin allows for more matches, and I think would be more fair. That's just my opinion though. I'll let you do whatever you want.

I think I'll do that.Since you're better in this layout, you can go ahead with round robin tournament rules.

Since I'm so kinky on my new favorite fandom to cosplay,we'll call it:

Hate to do this, since I was looking forward to the tourny, but unexpected events have come up and I will be out of town Friday evening and all of Saturday. I'll be returning the afternoon on Sunday.

Sorry, but this means I will have to bow out of the tournament.

I'll be looking forward to the next one, and if anyone wishes to play sometime be sure to PM me so I can add you as well.

Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience.

Ok just got a post from ACME regarding the passing of heading up the tournament from him to myself.

If people would like to be on AIM, that's cool, although other than calling people, I don't see how else we can all be in touch on the matter.

Jax if you don't mind, I know you were up for spectating / recording the matches. If you'd still like to do this, it'd be appreciated. I can also record any matches I'm involved with but I don't have a ready SD card (maybe my old mp3 player's would work) to transfer them to a computer.

Again it seems that the rules are:

5 Lives
3 Minutes
Medium Items
Random Stages
Round-Robin style of play as per Jax's list on Page 2.

I suppose I can be online several minutes before we kick this off (9PM CST / 10PM EST) and wait for 10 minutes in case people are late, get home, forget, etc. How about the first player of each round create the room? That way we won't be sitting staring at the TV wondering who's going to do what.

I think that covers everything but please post if you want to add suggestions or such.

See everyone tomorrow night!

Hey guys, before I run off I just wanted to throw in what I know.

I'm pretty sure you're unable to spectate live matches. The way Spectator mode works is that it lets you view replays of matches that've already happened (and is also why you can always spectate even if you're having issues finding other people to play against).

What you could do, for people who do not have an SD card, is have Jax take part in every game and just run off the edge and lose all of his stock.

Since these matches are timed, I would suggest the two players continue to fight whilst Jax, or whomever you wish to spectate is losing their stocks.

Not sure if that's how you want to proceed, but it's an option.

Matches are all cancelled due to extreme lag and connection problems. We've agreed to try again once people pick up the LAN adapters.

JaxReaper
04-26-2008, 08:18 PM
Yeah, it's way laggy tring to play online. I can play WoW & Halo with no problem, but SSBB just doesn't work. Of course it might not be my connection, I'm not sure. I'm gonna be picking up an adapter to wire it up and see if it gets any better. If we see major improvements, we might try to get another tourney together, but we'll see.

TransurrealisTristan
04-26-2008, 09:06 PM
If you guys want to have the next tourney, but are unsure what dates you want, why not we post what dates we would like to use?

I'm all for starting May 1st,but after 3rd week of May(and if you still want to do it),you're on your own.

Afterwards,we can reboot or have a second tourney during the dates I gave T-R-L.

JaxReaper
04-27-2008, 10:13 PM
OK, so on the topic of laggy connections. I just played a few rounds of Mario Kart Wii online and had problems with lag what so ever. The match ups are quick, the game runs smoothly, everythings great. It seems kinda of odd to me, considering there are more players involved, so it would seem like would be more information to process, and therefore be worse than SSBB online, but it's not. I might still try to pick up a lan adapter, but I haven't decided for sure.

TransurrealisTristan
04-27-2008, 10:35 PM
I think you should pick up that LAN adapter, just in case. This way,it can speed things along if Mario Kart Wii decides to screw itself over.

Oshi
04-27-2008, 11:54 PM
There's actually a few ports you can open to your Wii in your router's Port Forwarding that should help... Can't remember exactly which ones, there's like five, google it >.>

JaxReaper
04-28-2008, 12:11 AM
I did start to notice some latency issues, but nothing like I see with Brawl. I guess I will grab the adapter.

Guys,if we're intent on holding another tournament this week(or not),I'm all for it.Same time, same rules, but with a new exception. You can use random characters if you wish to do so.Plus,if you need to change characters,do so every 2 matches.

Thanks and hope all goes well!

PS:I'm still trying to find a Wii and Brawl. When I do,I'll let you know if I got it.
