*hangs head meekly* Well, the short explanation is that my dad is actually encouraging me to look into either one of these games. However, I have several questions.

1) Can the same wireless dance pads be used for both games, or does it really depend?

2) Is one able to upload their own music onto DDR, or download somehow, or is that exclusively to Stepmania?

3) Budget aside, though my parents aren't willing to spend much - what is more worth the moolah?

4) Anything else I should know~?

Thanks a lot for your help. u_u;

Stepmania is a crapload more cost effective and better IMO. You can create you own songs as well as download them from other people. It use to be free to download but it's been a while since I last had to download it. All you would need to do is buy the PS2 usb-controller converter for your computer and those are fairly cheap. Also while your parents may be stingy and not willing to drop a lot of money I do suggest that you save up and buy some decent dancing pads.

WARNING PERSONAL OPINION/PREFERENCE:
Don't get the metal Cobalt Fluxes get the soft insert ignition pads. You know you have the ones if the price is around $100. =) Hope this helped.

I appreciate the information, and the opinion too. ;)

Sorry, I'm not very technologically inclined (and out of the loop!)... this PS2 usb-controller converter... what does it look like, and how does it work? If it means allowing me to play with a controller, I'd rather avoid it since I should be busting a groove on the dance pad.

I was leaning towards DDR only because my dad would rather have me playing on a console than on a computer. Ask him for the reasoning. XD He probably wants to watch me trip over my own feet, hehe.

http://www.theplaycom.com/adapter-converter-p-47.html

It allows you to plug the pad into your computer and play that way.

Adding more the pads you get with the bundles are horrible and with frequent use will not last very long. I forgot that part in my original post.

Just a quickie - what do you mean by 'bundles'?

Thank you very much for the link to the adapter, though. :bashful: Seems more and more likely that I will go for Stepmania. I think the final decision lies with my dad, though, unless I can sway him with my stunning means of persuasion. << ... >>

Like I said before the pads are sub-par and will not last long.

In a nutshell

Step 1.) Go here. http://www.stepmania.com/ Download software
Step 2.) Go to your local torrent site, look up song packs. I suggest you get the biggest one you can find.
Step 3.) go here, buy this. http://www.redoctane.com/ignitionpadv3.html
Step 4.) Go here, buy this. http://www.amazon.com/Playstation-PC-USB-Gamepad-Converter/dp/B000F6BGXY
Step 5.) Go here, buy two of these.

Do steps 1 and 2, make sure you get your songs and software working. The rest is easy, just plug and play. Enjoy.
