The Edgeworth/Gumshoe contingent of the PW fandom is gonna burst from this game.

I think this is the "Gyakuten NOT Saiban" that was going around. The producer said something about April 20th being a date that Gyakuten NOT Saiban would be unveiled. Could be they released this info early, or will make some kind of announcement about its details soon.

Anyways, as a fan of the series this game will have a place in my collection, and can't wait for its North American Release Date.

Eh, I thought the gameplay of PW was fun, but the dialog was unbearable. One word: Gay.

Eh, I thought the gameplay of PW was fun, but the dialog was unbearable. One word: Gay.

The gameplay was basically, point and select. VERY VERY simple gameplay mechanic. Usually on very simple gameplay mechanic games, it is heavily backed by its storyline/dialogue. Or maybe you thought the game was gay because it wasn't a Hentai Point and Click game?

Anyways, I'm dropping this issue after this post, no point in continuing a squabble. As a Fan I am dissappointed you thought it was "gay" but you are entitled to your opinion, but as Sam Vimes said "Why?" I would like to know your reasoning as well.

It looks like this is 'Gyakuten NOT Saiban'. The name it's going by in Japan is Gyakuten Kenji / Turnabout Prosecutor so it makes sense if this is it.

I thought I read somewhere, and it could just be fans saying this, but the April 20th annoucement could be a trailer for the game.

Insofar as gameplay, I'm into the whole 'going-back-and-forth-and-talking-to-people' type game.

I should note at this point that I am disappointed that you would even stoop to making the hentai comment.

Have you played Hotel Dusk? The dialog was... Well, it was better. I wouldn't say perfect, but an improvement over PW.

Phoenix Wright's script consisted of too many unfunny jokes for me to enjoy it, and that's probably the only draw, but there are so many that it's a PRETTY BIG draw from a work that is otherwise fine. Gumshoe's less-than-observant character had already been done to death before PW, to give one example.

I also would disagree that there was any 'squabble.' I merely posted my opinion.

I am so excited about this game. I've fallen in love with Phoenix Wright's gameplay (I hadn't played a fun point-and-click adventure since the 8-bit NES days) and the characters. Such a colorful cast with a variety of personalities. And I loved the dialogue - haven't laughed out loud at a game since the Paper Mario series.

I just hope the von Karmas make an appearance. :)

BTW: using "gay" as a negative adjective not only sounds immature, but weakens your argument. It's offensive and doesn't actually mean anything in this context. It's a peeve of mine - you've got the whole gamut of English language at your disposal, why use "gay"?

He's getting his own game? Wow, so that's what's coming out now after Apollo Justice? A friend of mine and I were just talking about how they could possibly shake things up now that there's been so many games in the PW series, and I never actually thought of this. I mentioned that it might be interesting to play from the prosecutor's point of view, but we both couldn't see how it would be possible to make an effective game out of that. Nevertheless, this does sound pretty damn cool.

Those screenshots look interesting.. looks like they're really changing it up a bit.

I'm not sure of the premise but didn't Edgeworth used to be a defense attorney? I know he wanted to be one I'm just really forgetting the details. I beat the first one and keep meaning to buy the others.

Cool, your reasons have made their point and I agree with you. I still enjoy it even with the crappy dialog. (Common, in Trials & Tribulations they used " We know whose milkshakes brings all the boys to the yard" as well as "THIS IS SPARTA!!!!" quote)

I apologize for the Hentai game remark. I had experience on other forums while explaining PW to them and they would bring up Hentai Games a lot. So I sincerly apologize for that comment.

And yes I have played Hotel Dusk, and its one of the games in my DS collection. I truly enjoyed it and honestly, its story would've been a good novel to read if it where a novel. That and the interactivity that the game brought made the whole game better. That and the jokes that the main character made had perfect sarcasmn to it. It kinda sucks though, since not many game developers/publishers will be making any other games of that Genra.

Just incase it's needed

Edgeworth wanted to be a defense attorney because his dad was one. After his dad was killed Edgewroth got taken in by Von Karma and was taught the ways of the prosecutor and how to be perfect.

In the third game Edgeworth does show up as a defense attorney for part of the last case.

I think that covers some of it without going into too much detail.

It'll be nice to play on the other side of the field for a change. I guess this time the defendant is always gonna be guilty

I wonder who the defense attorney is gonna be. I highly doubt they're suddenly gonna job Phoenix out after everything that's transpired over the course of the game.

I really can't wait to play this game. It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun, and Edgeworth is such an interesting character. I've only played the first Phoenix Wright game, but when I get money, I'll be sure to play all.. 5? How many games are they going to make?

My assumption is that this game is going to be a prequel, taking place before the first game. It'll show just how Edgeworth started his perfect record.

I hope this means Franziska is in the game, since she and Edgeworth were basically raised as brother and sister.

Yeah, I was having a conversation with someone about this. (XD) We think that might be it too, a prequel, OR it might take place during the time Edgeworth was MIA (excuse me if I get anything screwed up here with the timeline) I do recall, I think sometime after the ending of the first game, Edgeworth resigns and disappears for a while. Then he disappears again after the third game, Trials and Tribulations. We were thinking it might cover what happened while he was gone. That, or a prequel, which would be cool too.

@ soradesu:

There were three games with Phoenix as the main protagonist, Ace Attorney, Justice for All, and Trials and Tribulations (my absolute favorite..-^^-) and they very recently came out with a new game featuring Apollo Justice. I guess this Edgeworth one is next up.

Nevertheless, I'm way too excited about this.

Oh, I have a question, about how this is going to be point and click. Does that strike anyone else as odd at all? Not that it necessarily should, I was just wondering why they would switch to that now.

Probably in order to make better use of the touch screen. One issue of mine with Apollo Justice was that it played exactly the same as the first three games (which were originally for GBA in Japan, btw), and it only used the touch screen and the fancy-shmancy 3D. I suppose Capcom wanted an interface that made use of the touch screen better, and decided to make a spin-off to test it. If it turns out to be popular, then go ahead and pop it into the next, official, GS5.
