Does anyone know why some of the newer ps2 games won't work on the ps3? Because alot of my games work but I got naruto ultimate ninja 3 and it glitches on me!

Software emulation. Hope sony decides to fix it in the future.

Shoulda bought a 60GB PS3 when they were still around. They actually had the PS2 hardware chipset in them.
You're probably better off getting a PS2 for cheap. That's actually Sony's recommendation, they don't really care about the BC in PS3.

If you're a Sam's Club member, they might have a bunch. It's where I got MY 60 Gigabyte!

It's Sony's recommendation? o.O Well, that decides it, then. I was debating on buying a new PS2 to replace my failing one, or buying a PS3 and then have the new console (and suffer with glitchy gameplay), but if Sony themselves recommend the PS2, then that's what I'll do.

Did 2.4 / 2.41 fix compatibility issues on the 80GB model? Just curious, since I have the 60 Gig.

This is the very reason I'm holding out on buying a PS3 because either I get the standard 40GB one and dump all my PS2 games in the trash or shell out the extra cash for an 80GB one (since all my local stores don't carry the 60GB one anymore). It's ridiculous that Sony would force their consumers into this position! But it's not like I'm the first to complain about it. :/

If you live in the US then you're a lucky one becauae I heard they were providing patches or even releasing some consoles which work with all PS2 games too unfortunately in the UK we have to keep both consoles +_+

...Or you get a PS3 and keep your damn PS2 so you don't have to "throw out" any games. wtf.

If you have a PS2 and want to get a PS3, Sony isn't forcing you to get rid of your PS2! So what 'position' are they putting consumers in again?

Yes, thank you for taking the unnecessary hostile position. My PS2 is broken. It can't read discs anymore. Apparently I've been lucky to have it last so long. Many of my friends' PS2s broke within only a couple years of being bought. Mine lasted a good 6-7 years before failing. So I'd need to either buy a new PS2 to play my old games, or if I wanted to play some of the newer games coming out, I'd need a PS3.
