Any older games you guys are playing for the first time?

I'm finally going through Legend of Dragoon for the first time on my PSP. At first, I was not impressed because the translation is like "All Your Base are Belong to Us." I just got to the part where the Dragoon aspect comes in I'm really enjoying it.

I just started Command and Conquer 3 a few days ago. I'm enjoying it, but I hate that I play for a half hour, realize that my base defenses are too weak, and have to start all over.

I don't have a very strategic mind I guess.

I'm also playing Condemned 1 again. I wanted to get ready for Condemned 2, but I had forgotten how amazing the sound direction is for that game. I actually jump when my surround sound rear speakers go off.

Just started playing Apollo Justice yesterday. The Perfect Prosecutor announcement made me want to play it even more. I was going to pick it up eventually, but my cheap-ass self was going to wait for the price to drop, until I asked my friend to borrow it, and I did, and here I am! Posting in this thread :D.

I'm playing though FFVI right now- man are those graphics bad. Trying to get my hands on Vagrant Story, too, along with Shadow of Colossus. Need to get these games before next-gen takes over and I can't find them anymore.

Tales of Phantasia. I thought I played the SNES version a while back, but apparently I was thinking of Star Ocean.
So I'm playing a translated version of the PSP/PS1 port, and loving it. Hopefully I finish this and Abyss before Vesperia comes out, heh.

Neoangelwink and I are playing through Tales of the Abyss, which is solid as hell and full of cheagles. There's also an embarassing number of games I've never played from the NES/SNES/Genesis days that I never played back in the day. Ah Virtual Channel...you are my friend.

I bought Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection last week and played Metal Gear Solid 1. Man, that game is awesome. I now know why so many people love that series.

I first played Final Fantasy VI for the GBA last year, and it was also awesome. It's now my top favorite Final Fantasy, with FFX right under it.

I'm in an on/off process of playing Galerians on PS1, but I'm not sure I'll finish it. The stuff I've read about the upcoming parts... I just dont know. (Yeah, I read spoilers up the wazoo already)

Also, I may go back and play some games I just never touched for the n64 sitting in the back of my closet...

I'm playing through Devil May Cry 2. Man is it bad. But I just want to finish it so I can say I lived through it.

Then it's back to DMC 4 for me.

Playing Digital Devil Saga 1. I'm so totally hooked. But then I stopped because I've been playing too many dungeon crawlers. I get so SICK of plot-dungeon-dungeon-dungeon-plot-dungeon... It's ENDLESS! Enough with the dungeons!!

I may try and play some Metal Gear Solid though. I have the first two games and yet I've never TOUCHED them. I just like collecting series I guess. But I need to start PLAYING these series. *sigh*

The story is one of the best in a video game ever, rivaling even games such as Final Fantasy. The story's so good that it can compete against even the biggest Hollywood movies.

I'm going back and playing the earlier Dragon Quest/Warrior games now. While I've played all of them at least in the beginning, I'm only now actually getting through the whole game. I beat Dragon Warrior IV back in February I believe, and now I'm playing Dragon Quest V. At least V never came out in America and I have an excuse!

But this happens to me a lot. When I get back home from Japan I have every intention to play through last generation games like Tales of Symphonia and Ys Ark of Napishtim, and maybe finally beat Wild ARMs 2.

Just started playing Apollo Justice yesterday.

That only came out a couple of months ago, dude. You're not quite late to the party yet. :p

Sigh, I know, I know. It's just...ya know, you wanna get a game really badly when it comes out, you don't get it, and like, three months later when you finally do, it's all "about time!"-ish. At least with me and my word over-compulsive anal-nature where I have to do things at a certain time and such or feel weird about it afterwards.

On that note, I'm late to the party with DMC4, too ;p.

I'm not playing DMC4, yuck.

I discovered a few months ago I was 'late' to play Stranglehold (OH YEAH COLLECTOR'S EDITION!!) because I tried to play online and found ONE other person online. Needless to say, I was a bit miffed.

I haven't even played the FIRST Pheonix Wright game. I'd same I'm more late to that party than you.

But even they're not THAT old. They're DS games. Nothing from the DS is really considered old...

I want to try and play the PSP versions of the first two Final Fantasy games though... I tried the GBA releases and they were... not faring well for me... But I heard that the PSP releases were more balanced...

I still want to try and play FFTactics as well...

All these games of course are on PSP... though I own the original FFTactics... Such a good storyline... but the strategys what bogged me down...

You sure like ellipses, don't you? :crylaugh:

To be fair, the DS came out almost 4 years ago now. In gaming terms, games released when it came out are starting to get a bit old. I'd think somebody playing a DS launch title now would be, as we're putting it, "late to the party".

I mean, I only just got a PSP last month and I feel pretty late to the PSP party. XD

It took me 8 years to beat Diablo II. EIGHT YEARS. And, so help me, sometimes I still want to get online and play that. Love that game forever, man.

CHRIST I LOVE THIS GAME. *played it this morning*
I'm really glad that now everyone who's missed out can play it. :3

I just recently picked up Metroid Zero Mission and Fusion for the GBA and have been playing them like crazy. I also just picked up Kid Icarus: of Myths and Monsters for the GBC, which is the reason I just recently picked up a GBA SP. Since I don't own a GBC, and now I can carry around all my old Game Boy games without having to cart around my GB brick. XD

Super Metroid

My reaction to the last boss: "OH JESUS CHRIST WTF IS THAT OH GOD HE JUST BLEW ME AWAY AND MY MISSLES TOO."

I'm going to get so much flack for this. XD But I just bought Ocarina of Time yesterday. So far the only Zelda games I've owned have been for Gameboy.

Finally beat Zack&Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure the other night. I've had it since it came out last year, but I kind of put it on the backburner with all of the other games that came out around the same time and then earlier this year.

Excellent game, though. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys old-school point-and-click adventures and has a Wii. I absolutely loved the art style. Very reminiscent of Wind Waker. It's a shame it was so under-the-radar. It's easily one of the best games on the Wii.

I've been "late to party" on a lot of games (b/c my PS2 broke a long time ago...or...well...someone in my family chucked it out the door actually...>_>; ), so there's many that I have still yet to play.

Thanks to my roommate's PS2 I played FFX, FFXII (almost done playing it), and now I'm starting FFVIII. I'm also playing FFVII for the first time on the PC (again my roommate's game XD), but it's effin' up (need to find more patches!!! DX).

I'm also playing .hack//Infection for the first time! XD

yeah, I'm VERY far behind...x_x;

I recently bought River City Ransom from the VC and played it for the first time ever. That game was way ahead of it's time combining a beat 'em up with RPG elements.

Man did I ever miss out as a kid.

Goin' back to The Legend of the Mystical Ninja/Ganbare Goemon 1, and giving it a second chance. Too bad 2, 3. and 4 never made it to North America, hence won't be showing up as part of Wii downloads. <8(

Not true! Some Japan-exclusive games have shown up on the North American Wii store.

I'm not playing any old games for the first time but I'm replaying a classic, starcraft. Still funner than hell.

Who else is playing? This game doesn't age, it ripens.

D'oh! Right, I should have added 'probably' to the 'won't make it to North America' statement. ^^;;

Just got an XBox 360 last week, so I'm getting all up in the grills of Bioshock and Oblivion IV. Love 'em.
