View Full Version : Popular games that you hate!

Well you know how it goes, sometimes a popular game comes pout and everyone talks and talks about it and you play it and it just sucks. Or maybe it's just not you. Here's the time to beef it out!

Guitar Hero: Sucks, sucks, sucks...I don't know how many times I have to say it. It's not fun at all. Hurts my fingers too! Real guitar is more fun to play.

Halo: What's so great about it. I played a bit of it once...sucked. XD Well also I'm not a first person shooter kinda gal.

Hmm...

Most of the Resident Evil games, I guess. I loved 4, but most of the others suffered from terrible camera angles and funky controls.

I also didn't care for FF10, mostly because I've never been an RPG type of person in the first place. But I also hated it that if you didn't level a certain character up enough, you couldn't beat one part, and couldn't go back to muscle that character up! So, basically, you'd have to start all over with 80 hours of gameplay lost. Grr.... Getting mad just thinking about it...

This isn't already a thread? How curious.

My two cents:

- Halo.
- Portal.
- Kingdom Hearts.
- Ratchet & Clank.

There was another topic, but the last post was made in 2005. I think we can safely let it die now.

There aren't really many games I hate that everyone else loves. To me, what construes hating a game is if you think it is a bad game. To me, the games I hate that everyone else loves are merely games I dislike playing. I don't think that they are bad games, I just don't enjoy playing them.

For me, that means most sports games, sim racers (Gran Turismo and Forza), and tactical shooters like Ghost Recon.

So yeah...I think you quite possibly named all of my favorite games in that one single post minus GH/RB...good work...

Also, none of those games "suck". Clear difference between "sucking" and personal preference...lets try to keep that straight from here on out (this is more directed at others, not you Sam).

I don't like overly eastern/cutesy/anime based RPG's. Haven't found a single one I like yet and have played quite a few of them.

Ya I'm not too big on RPG's just cause I don't like a game with a lot of reading and talking. Drives me nuts! I like a game where your always doing something like Oblivion. Someone gave it to me for a gift and there's so much to do. But, the only thing is if you f**k up once and you saved your game wrong...IT'S OVER!! XD

Another thing, when is Final Fantasy really going to end. "FINAL" Fantasy. ?_? I don't mind the games but, jeez.

Like I liked FF8. I thought it was fun.

I'll see your argument and raise you a KH2. Several people I know (and myself) had trouble with the button-mashing-based battle system. But hey, more power to you if it worked for you.

It's not a bad game, but just an average game. The scene behind it is ridiculous IMO.

I have a 360 without Halo, but whenever I tell anyone that I have a 360, they ask me, "So what do you think of Halo?" I tell them I don't have Halo and they just give me a weird look. There are plenty of much better games on that console.

I am really not too keen on sports games and most first-person shooters. Halo is the only exception. I know its really hyped up game, but I still love it. And I will never get sick of Guitar Hero. XP~

I was never impressed with the Mario games and HAAAATE Duck Hunt so very much to this day. Even when I was little, the dog always pissed me off with his mockery.

Frankly, I find GH and Rock Band to be excellent games for building the ability to internalize a beat and parse rhythms. I'm a professional musician and my friends are hilariously NOT, but I've seen them improve immensely due to the series.

Another thing, when is Final Fantasy really going to end. "FINAL" Fantasy.

I didn't like God of War. And I really tried.

All those sports games they keep re-releasing every year also piss me off, but that's more of a genre thing than anything else.

Silent Hill 2 and one of the older REs had very un-fun control schemes that I eventually gave up on.

I know people that don't like it simply because it takes getting used to and practice to do well. It's that whole, if I suck off the bat I don't want to practice to get better so I'll just say it sucks and refuse to play. I personally found it boring until I got decent enough that I could play on higher levels. It's not for everyone, but I wouldn't say it sucks.

Aw, I wanted to be the first to say they didn't like GH publically. Oh well. Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE rythm game fan and avid player- Beatmania, DDR, Pop'N, Percussion Master, EBA/Ouendan, even DanceManiax, I love it all. Okay, maybe I don't love DM much, but the point being, I just couldn't get into GH after a long history of liking beat games. I bought ihe original back before the craze really ensued after a friend's recommendation, and I just couldn't get into it. I've played it again, and I still don't feel a connection with it. Maybe it sucks, maybe it doesn't- objectively, via sales, reviews, and so many other reasons it doesn't. But subjectively, it just doesn't float my boat man.

I also don't like GTA, specifically starting at 3. I really liked the first two, but I was originally turned off by the 3D world (I loved the downscreen view, and GTA's 3D-esque downscreen didn't do it for me). Vice City was meh, and SA was slightly more fun, and I'll probably pick up GTA4, but I just can't give it any of the accolades that others give it.

Oh, and WoW. Played it for about two months, which was the longest I ever played an MMORPG (Guild Wars and FFXI included) for, and that was the most 'addicted' I became. It was good, nice world, and all that jazz, but once more, it was just another case of it not doing it for me.

God Of War
Don't care for the Greek/Rome/Mythology settings of the games era. I also feel that the game trys too hard to be awesome. And I don't care for Kratos.

Call Of Duty 4
Game is too easy for my tastes. Besides is nice graphics and 60FPS action, I just don't care for its gameplay. I don't believe in it being the ultimate FPS game.

Gears Of War
Love its campaign. But the multiplayer is horribe garbage. Especially now with its many, many updates. Mutliplayer fails due to too much inconsistancies with weapons, actions, hit boxes, etc. HOST is pretty Godly powerful too.

Final Fantasy VII
Nothing wrong with the game. It's a pretty good game I guess. But the hype, the milking of the series drives me nuts. Hopefully now with Crisis Core out, this game will finally stop and just die.

I absolutely loathe the Grand Theft Auto series.
Then again, my hatred is biased probably since it comes from two sources:
1.)My ex who played the stupid thing all.the.time. -_-
2.) From working at a gamestore and hearing underage kids whine because we wouldn't let them buy it without a parent since it had an M rating. (company rules kids! not mine!)

I too hate World of Warcraft...I hate the way the elves look in it. (sorry, elf snob here! XD) but mainly because everyone I know that plays it does nothing else BUT play it. I've seen perfectly normal people become WoW addicts overnight and totally disregard previous hobbies and activities in favor of sitting and playing WoW.
I have nothing against MMORPG's at all...I play Final Fantasy XI myself but good god have a real life too! O_O

I can't stand Guitar Hero because I see it everywhere. When I worked at Gamecrazy, it was on all day long. When I transferred to another store, they had a regular who was on it virtually all day as well. Now that I work as a mall concierge next to a Gamestop, I see crowds of people spilling into the hallways to play it.\ When I visit my brother, they're playing it on the community TV, and he's frequently blasting it on his own TV in between battlegrounds in WoW. Thankfully, he's reacting well to the Mass Effect pacifier I gave him.
I guess you could say that my dislike comes from overexposure.

They called it Final Fantasy because back in the day, when Squaresoft was going under, they basically produced one last game, their last idea, thus their 'Final Fantasy'. And due to how insanely well the series has done for the company, I wouldn't expect them to end anytime soon.

Games that I hate:
1) Madden-Not that I've played any of them recently, but I worked @ Gamestop from 2004 to early 2007 and yeah....yeah.
2) Sukodien or however that's properly spelt 3 and up- The series stopped being good at 2, IMO.
3) Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess- Not what I was hoping for at all. Kinda a let down, Winder Waker was superior in my opinion. Looked nice though.
4) Metal Gear Solid 2/ Halo 2- Would have been great games, if not for that "SUPRIZE NOW U HAS NEW CHARACTER TO HAZ TO PLAY AS MOMENT!"
5) Need for Speed/ Forza/ Project Gotham- For me, it's Burnout, Mario Kart and Gran Turismo.
6) Marvel Nemesis: Oh wait, this isn't popular at all.....
7) Any Resident Evil between 2 and 4- Yeah...sorry Billy, you're the man and all but...yeah....horrible controllers are horrible.
8) Every Devil May Cry after 1- Sorry Dante, your first game is amazing, but Kratos and Ryu did it better.
9) Any game presented by Tom Clancy- No and no.
10) Any Rare game that isn't Goldeneye from the N64 era on.

With you on this one, I started with Bust-a-Groove back in the 90's and just progressed into Bemani in general.

As my boyfriend has said, "playing GH feels like cheating on my girlfriend" and I'm totally on board with that statement. Rockband bothers me less because its managed to mash together Guitarfreaks, Drummania, and Karaoke revolution together into one game and has created something almost new where as Guitar Hero has literally just ripped off Guitar Freaks, added two buttons and flipped the way the notes move. Even the whammy bonus is there but adjusted to not be a complete rip off.

Honestly, that's one of the 'real' complaints I have about GH that have any basis, aside from my subjective tastes. I heard way back when that there were plans for a GH arcade-unit, and seeing what Konami did to Roxor, it'd be interesting to see the results. That being said, I really liked ITG (though Bemani will always take precedence in my <3 ), so I can't completely scorn Guitar Hero for taking the concept and successfully cashing in in ways that Bemani completely missed out on.

I also don't like the lack of diversification as far scoring goes, it's either hit or miss, no on beat, slightly on, off, etc. The way the competitive aspect handles that scoring reminds me a lot of racing games (Initial D, Wangan, etc.), where you just have to memorize tracks, and drift at the right time, except in GH you just memorize where to use the power-bar thingie to get the most points. If it floats for ID/Wangan, then I guess it can float for GH, but still, that black and white aspect ticks me off for a beat game.

Missed out on? You mean passed over...

Konami did not market the game in the US, and the blame can be on no one else besides them. To say you don't like GH "because Konami did it first, etc..." is crap...Harmonix took the game, polished it to a very fine finish (well, disregard the hammer-on's in 1) and published it to an audience that appreciates it.

Konami might have started it, but Harmonix perfected it. To say you're a fan of any of the Konami series but not GH/RB is highly hypocritical.

BTW...I dislike DDR as well. Pump is where it's at (I hope you follow Pump Flux...if not, you're missing out on A LOT).

Oh I won't argue against Harmonix's business move. They remade GuitarFreaks (and to some extent, Drummania/PercussionFreak) and adapted it to an American audience, and fixed the nagging details. It was brilliant- and Roxor did it, too, like I said. They took DDR, Americanized it, made it harder, yet more accessible at the same time, and so on, but there's such a not-so-hidden schism between some hardcore DDR crowders and some ITG peepz. I enjoyed what ITG did, especially because DDR was dying and needed that boost it received competition. Honestly, at times, and I won't deny it- it does come down to favoritism. "I won't touch game A cause company A made it, or because they stole it from company B"-that's a little silly, but passions can run wild with video games fan (Sega v. Nintendo, anyone?).

That being said, my real gripe with the game is, like I said, because I couldn't get into it. If Konami had made the exact same game, I still wouldn't like it. It's got a lot merit, and it's not about the company (though I do think Bemaniist's have a right to criticize Harmonix to an extent). I think it boils down to the fact that I don't find the gameplay to be too attractive (like I said, I like knowing how on or off-beat I was on, as small of a detail as that is), and that I'm just not a huge fan of the song lists. I'm not a big fan of American rock (it's all about Europe, yo), and few of the bands I do like are really mildly represented there (Maiden, Killers, so on).

And trust me, 4ng3l, I Banya it up five panels as much as I do with four. I'm a Danger Zone ;p. And uh, Bemera is impossible to beat.

-Final Fantasy VII: Need I say anything?

-Grand Theft Auto: It gives the player too much freedom in killing people. You're practically allowed to commit mass murder in this game. That's why I like Mercenaries better. You fight bad guys instead and you're punished if you kill good guys.

-Guitar Hero: I like yet hate this series. I mean, within two years, they release what, five games? O_o

-God of War: The hero's ugly and the emphasis is killing things. From what I know, the story's about revenge. We've seen too much of that already.

-All sports games: I dunno why. I guess I'd rather play a real game of base ball or tennis.

-Street Fighter: Never understood why everyone liked it. Maybe it's because it's all just generic punching and kicking. I'd rather play a fighting game with weapons. I like Bleach DS and Marvel vs. Capcom better. Heck, I even like the mediocre Naruto: Ultimate Ninja better.

I'm kind of torn about Final Fantasy VII. It was a GREAT game in its time, and when I go back and play it, it's still an amazing game. However, Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, and obnoxious fangirls/fanboys killed it for me. I'm so fucking sick of FFVII. They should have just left it at the one game.

God of War. It wasn't a bad game, it was just too easy and short for me. As soon as I started getting into it, the game was over. I don't think I've ever beaten a game that fast before (except maybe Kingdom Hearts 2). I guess I just didn't have enough time to get interested in it because the game was over too soon.

Also, ever since the merger with Squaresoft and Enix, I haven't really liked their games. I feel like they're just releasing rushed out crap with barely any effort put into it just because people will buy it. Hopefully that will change, though. I haven't played The World Ends With You yet (although honestly it looks kind of weird) and The Last Remnant looks fun.

If I had to pick one right now, it would probably be Portal. Haven't played it, but I'm already bored with it. Seeing "the cake is a lie" quoted here, there, and everywhere repeatedly and seeing a few too many companion cubes (as plushies, cakes, on T-shirts, etc.) everywhere I turn caused any interest I might've had in the game to vanish. I was so pissed when the theme song found its way into "Rock Band", though there is some consolation in the fact that I don't have to download it (I just hope my father and sister, the rightful owners of the PS3 I play RB on, agree).

People need to learn that when they find something they think is funny, they don't need to repeat it a thousand times. I dare anyone reading this to find a Chell cosplay on here without some idiots comment saying, in case you'd ever forget, the cake is a lie.

I never even liked the theme in the first place. Johnathan Coulton is not as funny as everyone makes him out to be. "Oh, listen, he's playing 'Summertime for Fucking!'" Yeah, that's right, he took a semi-famous song, and just added 'fucking' to it and played it. Wow.

I'm not even touching of FFVII here, but any FF past X kinda lost the zip for me. I've never finished a single FF though so... yeah.

Golden Sun, though it's not OMG POPULAR

I play GTA at my sister's when I'm angry. Other than that.

Halo and Half-Life, most any "shooter". I don't like scary games (COMING FROM AN ASHLEY GRAHAM COSPLAYER. LOL THE HYPOCRICY. *kills self*) so anything in that category is out.

Anime ---> Videogame crossovers usually suck.

Loz:TP was... fair. It was the first Zelda I ever beat and it took me a long time. So yeah.

I thought Crisis Core was so far the best of the FFVII spinoffs.

Oh, DMC needs to die, I think. Yes, let us have pretty, churchy music then random headbanging screamo. Dante, you're pretty. Nero, you're just gay. I don't think they even EXPLAINED anything ABOUT DMC4...

Sports games... Nuff said...

As for Crisis Core, I loved that game, and this is coming from a person who's not too fond of Final Fantasy VII. The story was worthy of an Final Fantasy game and Zack is one of my favorite characters in a Final Fantasy game as well. The gameplay can get old though...

I'm a Kingdom Hearts fan, and yet I too am thinking that it's getting over hyped, especially that Roxas and Axel thing. O.o They're just really good friends, just as how I have a friend that's just like a brother to me. That Roxas and Axel fan pairing is getting pretty cliche too.

smash brothers/brawl- ive never been a mario fan and i realy cant undersand the hype, and unfortunatly i know a huge amount of nindy fanboys who love these and want to play them every games soc meeting.

GTA- i realy dont like these, overhyped, tasteless and im disgusted by the way women are portrayed in them. (again, im around famboys who give me the 'but theyr'e fun' argument, well so is geometry wars, but with that you arent killing people).

guitar hero- i played properly for years and it fails to impress me; being able to do all the songs on expert does not a guitarist make, everyone i know who plays it cant play in real life.

sports games- i never saw the point in these, whats wrong with going outside and playing something for real?

kingdom hearts- another one i dont get the hype for, and the disney aspect just puts me right off inspite of my RPG addict status.

halo- i tried the first one on a PC but couldnt get into it, and probably because its not doom.

games made from movies- NO, NO, NO, NO, JUST STOP IT! i have yet to play one that is actualy any good.

What's wrong with Final Fantasy X? D:

As for Crisis Core, I loved that game, and this is coming from a person who's not too fond of Final Fantasy VII. The story was worthy of an Final Fantasy game and Zack is one of my favorite characters in a Final Fantasy game as well. The gameplay can get old though...

I'm a Kingdom Hearts fan, and yet I too am thinking that it's getting over hyped, especially that Roxas and Axel thing. O.o They're just really good friends, just as how I have a friend that's just like a brother to me. That Roxas and Axel fan pairing is getting pretty cliche too.

Final Fantasy X was the beginning of the end. So much about it was fail. Tidus is a pussy bitch throughout the game, all the other characters are dull and annoying, the voice acting sucks, you don't get a world map, and Nobuo wasn't even trying with this one. The music is not nearly as spectacular as its predecessors. You could seriously hear Nobuo's desire to get this over with and move on to better things. Honestly, I, too, would've wanted to quit composing for FF at that point.

As a long, LONG time FFVII fan, I highly doubt I will ever, EVER agree with you about Crisis Core being a better game. Simple as that. Sure, Zach is a cool character, but really, this game was just another money-making excuse for Nomura to put Gackt in another FF game. For reallies, this time, and not just as a surprise ending. It's bad enough that if Squall were to learn who his character design was based after, he would probably kill himself.

Which brings me to KH. When I first heard about it I was like "Oh god, Disney is trying to move in on one of my favorite series?? Gross!" And even worse, they brought characters back from my old favorite Final Fantasy games and changed them into emo pussies. To me, this is on the same level as the Mormon Church baptizing the dead. It's unethical! Plus, if Squall's world really did get destroyed, the true Squall from FF8 would've offed himself trying to save it. He wouldn't have survived and changed his name, wtf!

Another thing that's ridiculous. Throughout FFVII, Cloud and his friends fought long and hard to get up the strength and courage to beat Sephiroth, and here, he gets beaten by a 13 year old kid. Am I the only other person who sees a problem with this? This game kills anything I ever liked about Final Fantasy, and it will continue to do so. And Disney can kiss my ass if they think they're going to break into the video game industry the way Microsoft has.

Of course, this is all just my personal opinion. You can like whatever crappy game you want. But seriously, don't come to this thread to defend it.

@ Infinitydragon > I'm a hardcore SSB fan, but I can totally understand where you're coming from. I think SSBB is really cool, but there are a lot of things wrong with it. They say with this game, Nintendo's improved on the physics system from Melee. But to me, it's the exact opposite. I had a hard time moving my character around at first. And I'm not sure what world everyone else is living on, but in this world, isn't it basic knowledge that the higher you are, the harder you fall? In Brawl, it's the exact opposite, and it's really obnoxious. I do love Brawl, I love the character's new looks, I love the music and graphics, but Melee is still more fun for me to play. Sometimes, when I hear people say this game is like the Holy Grail of games, I wonder if they're just lying to themselves because it took freakin' forever for the damn thing to come out. ^ ^;;;

1:Halo 3. I didn't like the first two games much either. However the first Halo did bring some cool customization to FPSs that really wasn't there before.

2:GTA. Like I've said before I did like GTA 3 and Vice City, But after that it just felt like to much of the same thing over again.

3:Guitar Hero. I think the only reason this game is so popular is because it got people who usually don't play games to try it.

4:Any sports game. To me the purpose to sports is to get up, go out and play with other people. That purpose is lost if you don't have to leave your room.

5: Movie tie ins. I really hate games that are being made just to help hype a movie. I wouldn't mind if they really tried to make it a good game, but most of the time they just trow it together and don't seem to care.

I lolled at your comment about FF12. XD I lost interest as well. There's just way too much to it, it's kind of overwhelming. Great story, love the new character designs, the voice acting was decent, but holy jesus christ that game felt like a whole lot of work to play. XD And games should never = work.

being able to do all the songs on expert does not a guitarist make, everyone i know who plays it cant play in real life.

LOL @ some of these poor reasons. Guitar Hero is just a casual, fun game. Being able to play the game on Expert level does not make you an expert with a real Guitar. I've never stated this, and I've never heard anyone else state this. The only instrument you can become good at is the Drums in Rock Band. When you play the Drums on Expert, you're playing the exact notes from the song. And so what if playing the "real" instrument is better. The GH series and Rock Band are both very fun casual games that you don't have to have loads of experiences to enjoy.

im disgusted by the way women are portrayed in them.

Uhmm... welcome to the real world.

Yeah. Why not? It almost is. Other than being able to easily escape cops and other obvious stuff, it's quite close to reality. There are women that really do exotic dancing, prostitution, etc. for a living. And if you play the campaign, you meet women that actually hold themselves with pride.

Not many though...and those same women will follow you through a river and not get upset if you run people over in your stolen vehicle.

It's realistic, though the ability to be drawn from that realism is very sharp. For every realistic thing the game does, it does 2 things that could never happen in reality.

Still pretty good though.

I won't say I hate it, because I don't, but one of the most disappointing games I've played in recent memory was Okami. Part of the reason was because I was so ridiculously hyped for the game. I had followed it since it was first announced, and I made sure I told everyone I knew about it. Multiple times, even.

The fact that it was directed by one of my all-time favorite game designers, Hideki Kamiya (Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry 1, Viewtiful Joe 1), just sealed the deal for me. The art style was amazing, and the Celestial Brush added a whole new dynamic to the well-established Zelda formula which Okami followed so closely. I was ready to declare it the greatest game ever made.

Then, I played it. Sure, it was still a good game. It just wasn't amazing.

I think my biggest complaint stems from the difficulty, or rather, the lack thereof. Okami was ridiculously easy. I mean, insultingly easy. What was particularly surprising about this was that Kamiya is known for making challenging games. While I'm not sure I would have wanted Okami to be on the same level of VJ or DMC considering its length, but for crying out loud, the "challenge" was pathetic.

I didn't die once the entire game, and it took me around 50 hours to beat it (that's another issue I had with the game, but I'll get to that in a sec). Fighting enemies was totally pointless, because you didn't gain anything worthwhile from the battles like experience points. I always had way more money than I needed, so I didn't need to fight enemies to replenish my stash. I ended up avoiding every battle that wasn't required by the game to continue.

Going back to the length, the game was just too long. Now, I understand a lot of my play time was taken up by optional sidequests and whatnot, but there was a good chunk of the main game that could have been excised completely without negatively affecting the story or overall adventure. Also, if the game had been more difficult, I don't think the length would have bothered me as much.

Ah well, I know I'm probably the only person who feels this way about Okami. I would really like to try it out on the Wii just to see how the motion controls affect the gameplay, but I'm not too keen on playing through the entire game again. Once was enough.

I don't care for Kingdom Hearts. The Disney stuff was, for me, the only redeeming quality - and the tie-ins between different movie universes. Of course, I've enjoyed that kind of game since Mickey Mousecapade for the NES. I'm not really into Final Fantasy that much, so the character appearances didn't affect me one way or the other. I couldn't get into the Sora story at all, as the character himself didn't do anything for me. I couldn't identify with him, and he wasn't charismatic enough for me to care what happened to him. I stopped playing after saving the Princesses of Heart and haven't picked it back up since. The camera angles were wonky to the point of motion-sickness - give me the Zelda camera scheme in Ocarina of Time any day.

I've never played KHII, mainly because of the rabid fanbase. They've pretty much killed any interest I had in it. Maybe in a few years I'll pick it up cheap, after the popularity has waned. And mostly to play the Disney movie worlds. :)

Man, I really can not stand Final Fantasy VII. Or X. Or X-2 (lol XMen 2).

But really, honestly, X. The dialog is SO horrible, the characters are SO annoying, everything is so fucking childish you can't get past to the admittedly fun gameplay. And X-2 just took everything X did NOT have going for it and made it ten times worse. For example taking the far more annoying female cast and and excluding them, taking the HORRIBLE comedy and making is that much more campy and ridiculous, taking X's fairly straightforward story that made it easy and fluid to play and adding sidequests up the ass so you don't know what the fuck to do next, oh yea, and also spoiling X's ending in the process for those of us who didn't have the patience to play THAT horrible game. I guess that's more of a favor. Then we can just see how much more Final Fantasy rips off Metal Gear.

But I absolutely LOVED IX, XI, and XII. Yes, I did say I loved Final Fantasy Eleven.

Also lawl at beginning of Kingdom Hearts (released March 28th, 2002) and ending of Metal Gear Solid 2 (released November 14th, 2001).
I'VE SEEN THIS BEFORE.

When you play the Drums on Expert, you're playing the exact notes from the song.

Hahahaha, on the bongos maybe.

Have you ever noticed how the Hi-Hat is where your Snare Drum should be? Or how none of the Pads have dedicated sounds (such as DrumMania's Hi-hat, Snare, Two Tom, Crash and Kick setup).

A normal Drum Kit has A Hi-Hat (to the LEFT Harmonix, the LEFT), a Snare (between your LEGS Harmonix do I have to hold your hand or something I thought you cats all had PHDs can't you build a fake drumest?!), a Crash (normally above the Hi-Hat and Snare), FOUR toms (Hi, Mid, Low and a Floor Tom), a Cymbal (at least they kind of got that right, even though it MAGICALLY turns into a Lo Tom sometimes), and a Kick Drum (got this too, though for Rock Band they should of had Two).

I understand that's a lot, but you know what controller was more accurate?

http://www.toysnjoys.com/psx2/drummania_set.jpg

But I guess Rock Band drums are fun, they teach you drum coordination but in NO way are they anywhere close to drums.

Also given the fact that it teaches people to have to sing like ROBOTS and that guitars only have one string (not really but you've seen the guy who thinks he's better than real musicians because he can play FUCKING VIDEO GAMES), I condemn Rock Band to my "I hate you but I can't let you go" category.

What other game would let me be in a Rock band with my friends who can play any instruments?
That's too good to hate :D

For one thing that piece of crap DrumMania drum is like $70.00.

Secondly, it's bongo hero man. They look like bongos.

But that isn't the problem. The problem is that buy switching the Hi-Hat and Snare around CONSTANTLY, they screwed over ANYONE who started their drumming experiences on Rock band (I started mine on DrumMania) are going to be TOTALLY shitfaced when they try to play a real kit. They'll also have to play crosshand, which is not only a technique all in it's own but also really messes you up on the fills if you don't know how to properly cross hand. I know this because I'm HORRIBLE at crosshand.

At least the Guitar looks like a guitar. Kind of.
The drums are just a joke. They're short like four or five pieces. That's not just *excusable*, you know it. The Rock Band drums were the only new addition to American music gaming and it was just weak.

Or do I have to remind you of:

It's funny you say that, because after playing 3 and 4, I find DMC1 to be nigh unplayable. The combat in 3 and 4 is faster, deeper, and more fluid. DMC1 Dante, while certainly still responsive, feels sluggish when compared to his counterparts in 3 and 4. The lack of skill options in 1 also hurts after everything you can do in 3 and 4.

Frankly, I'd like to see Capcom remake DMC1 someday with DMC4's engine and DMC4 Dante. Being able to switch styles on the fly was a great addition to DMC3's already stellar combat, but Dante was so underutilized in 4 that I'd love to be able to play as him in an entire game.

Heck, it would also probably be easier for Capcom to get away with making DMC5 solely Nero-based, which they've hinted at doing on several occasions.

I don't understand why people say DMC3 is so hard. Yes, it's difficult, but if I can finish it on hard mode, anyone can.

Somebody actually claimed that it's just like real drums? I'm sorry, but that's flat out insulting to those of us who play percussion at a professional level. It's a game. It's fun. It's awesome for that, but people shouldn't be assuming for a second that it equates in any way with actual musical practice, reading skill, training, and experience. It is a game. It is a simulation, an approximation. Nothing more or less.
