Really good news for fans of J-Rock. EA previously made Rock Band's European songs DLC for North America, so you can expect they'll do the same for Japan as well. Certainly, this begins discussion as to what songs should be in the game, so here's a few votes from me.

X-Japan - X, Kurenai
Malice Mizer - Au Revoir
B'z - Calling
Yellow Monkey - Tactics
L'arc en Ciel - Any song but "Ready Steady Go", which will likely be the song put in ><;
175R - Melody

What songs do you guys want?

There had better be some Polysics in there.

Vocals (for any of the songs) will be difficult, no doubt.

Anything JAM Project! Gong, Skill, Dragon, anything from them, and I'll be happy...

That, or a few songs from Yoshiki Fukuyama actually come to mind, mostly from the Macross 7 soundtrack (Holy Lonely Light, Dynamite Explosion, Seventh Moon to name a few)

I'd be happy with ROCKET.

But let's not get too excited. Unless these songs are released via XBLA in north America, they're not gonna function on the x360. The PS3 is a different story, but if the track listing is vastly different (which is certainly could be if the European version of rockband is any indication), it would be the only version out of 4 to gain access to these songs.

So unless you have a PS3, it's not terribly likely that these songs will be released outside of japan. If my experience with XBLA regions is any indication, any Japanese DLC won't be compatible with North American xbox's either.

So we're all gonna have to hope that Q entertainment and Harmonix put their good foot forward when it comes to universally distributing these new songs, or they mean absolutely nothing to anyone not in japan.

The European launch tracks are already announced to be made available as DLC for the US. I doubt they'd change that for the Japanese launch.

Sounds like this'd be pretty heavy for the drummer. Thanks for mentioning that song, though, I only know of a handful or so Polysics songs, but it's enough for me to love 'em.

I DEMAND, DEMAND I SAY, some Asian Kung-Fu Generation. Also, The Pillows. Perhaps Porno Graffitti too. And Sambomaster.
Miyavi can be a pretty sick guitarist, so perhaps something from him as well.

And yes, like Quantum9 said, I'm fully confident Harmonix will make all DLC global and we can bask in the goodness as well.

Ah come, there's gotta be at least one Dir en Grey song. I vote either C or -saku-. The drummer would have a field day with -saku-. And all the screaming that goes into the vocals would be fun. :D

I'd imagine it'd end up mostly being the big names. Bands like B'z, X-Japan, Southern All Stars, Luna Sea, L'arc~en~Ciel, GLAY, maybe Dir en grey.

As for songs I'd want... I'd love stuff by bands like Malice Mizer or Porno Graffiti if possible!

I'd kill to have some Nightmare in there; hopefully with Tokyo Shonen's sick guitar part.

Or anything else by Ayabie, Alice Nine, An Cafe, L'Arc~en~Ciel, or the lovely Gackt.
