For a wedding...? I actually think that's a bit ... way too obsessed, to be honest.

I've had a video game cake once (twice, thrice..) for my birthday, which I think is fine and dandy. But I would never want one for something as important as a wedding.

Birthday cakes I can understand... But for wedding cakes? I think that's a bit too much for a formal wedding (unless the wedding is video game themed or something). ^^;

Kinda on topic but when I was still with my ex, when we were discussing a wedding she wanted me and all the groomsmen to all be in SeeD uniforms (FF VIII). I thought it was kinda cool.

Also, aparently she said that there is a formal and non formal SeeD outfit, frankly I think she is full of it.

But really, its YOUR wedding, do what you want, who gives a sh*t what anyone else thinks. Formality be damned. Make the cakes giant boobs if you want, Soul Calibur themed cake.

If done properly it's not a horrible idea. My roommates just got married last weekend and the cake toppers were their Wii Mii selves in a tuxedo and wedding dress. :) I think something subtle like that while adding in a personal theme can be cute.

I agree with the vote to do it, to an extent. Just make sure it's not something you'll regret ten years from now, as something like this -could- become tacky, but that's all subjective. It's your wedding, and if it makes the celebration more memorable, then ignore the flack you'll get from others about the 'extremism,' as everyone has their own way of making their celebrations stand out.

So yeah, if gaming/anime is that important for you two guys, go ahead and do it. It's your wedding and you'll eat what you want to ;D.

Kinda going off Tybalt here.

First I'd like to say, I would be cautious. I think the birthday idea is great and I hope you do do it for at least a birthday. I won't tell you not to do it for a wedding, it's your's and your SO's special moment and you have the right to do it the way that best suits you two. But at the same time I suggest you have a wedding without a theme like that. The thing is that right now you might LOVE pokemon but there's no guarentee you will later in life. For instance: I know someone who obsessed over anime and never in a million years expected to not be an anime fan one day and now she's not at all, sometimes she's bitter towards the genre and she frequently associates her anime days with immaturity. I'm not saying something like that will happen to you but you never know how you may feel about pokemon, games or anime one day so it's something to think about.

In the end, it's your decision, so do what you believe to be most right for you. And what would make the moment most perfect.

Pokemon would be cute for cakes especially a male and female Nidoran cuddling like in the episode Where for Art thou, Pokemon

Awwwwwwww ^_^

That's what me and my boyfriend are going to do ^_^ 'cept he's going to be in a White SeeD uniform. Ya know, to make him stand out more.

Also, aparently she said that there is a formal and non formal SeeD outfit, frankly I think she is full of it.
I think she might have been confusing the Cadet/Student uniforms with the SeeD uniforms.

Anywho, when push comes to shove, the formality of a wedding is really traditions sake. It has nothing to do with the whole purpose of the ceremony itself, or rather what the point of the ceremony has evolved into: two people promising to love each other until the day they die while gaining legal rights in the process. The wedding could be conducted in an alley behind a bar if the couple so chooses because the way the ceremony itself is conducted is irrelevent, so long as the couple in love is truly devoted.

That being said, who cares what the cake looks like? It's a cake. The whole purpose of the cake is to be eaten and taste good, not to reflect the importance of the couple's vows or the formality of the occasion. It could even be argued that a wedding or any formal event is just the adult way of "playing dress up", but I won't go into that. The real travesty would be not if the cake was video game themed or anime themed, but rather if the cake was burnt to a crisp (or remained a gooey mess) and could not be eaten, therefore unfilling its purpose of being eaten and tasting good.
