I found this on MSN(Don't have the link,so sorry to everyone) and it is a complete shocker.Nintendo has lost a $100+ million or so lawsuit because of some Texas complany that has patents for a lot of the Gamecube/Wii gear.

This means Wiis may no longer existing due to this...*needs to get one NYAO*

So,what do you have to say about it?

Read harder, dude.

The patent effects the Gamecube, Wavebird, and Wii Classic controllers only.

They also got money out of Sony and MS, only Nintendo told the company to bugger off, and thus the lawsuit.

On the plus side, a law(or something or other) was filled in 2006 that makes this sort of extortion harder as companys' that sit on patents can't actively claim infringement on them. However, Nintendo would have to appeal the ruling. Given that MS and Sony already paid out though, not sure what will happen.

It's sick that companies can do this... but it already happened to RIM (creator of the blackberry) by some patent sitter who had something vaguely relating to it. I think the law change was made after this, as they got nailed hard.

Old news, and all that stuff is still being sold now. 99.9% certain it will be settled without any effect on Nintendo other than their check book, and consumers won't notice a thing. You should edit the title, if you can.

Yep. Happens all the time. Companies find patten infringements to get money out of each other constantly. I think Sony had one with Target over something with the Blu-ray not too long ago as well.

A bump after two weeks for a "lol" when the thread should've just died at the bottom of the board? Time to silence it for good.
