Ok.. So. I'm going for extremely easy.. And cheap. Don't really have time of money to make a fancy silent hill nurse mask. So. I have about 10-15 rolls of that ace bandage gauze stuff lol.. I was thinking of using hot glue to glue it on to a ski mask.. and then i will paint it, dirty it up.. etc.. But my question is, Do you think the hot glue will leak through the ace bandages? or will this idea just totally completely fail?

(And sorry if this shouldn't go here! Dx)

Personally, I think the idea is all around fail.

It's not hard to have a friend to a duct tape head cast for you...fill that with plaster...and boom, instant head replica (or, at least as good as you'll need to sculpt on).

Buy some oil clay...sculpt away...get your liquid latex, and lay about 10-15 layers on it...peel off...paint.

Gauze nurses are lazy and just look bad.

This probably could go ni the silent hill forum but oh well your here already.

I think if your set on doing that idea it could work out but as long as you don't smush the hot glue down on the bandages you'll be fine. Just be gentle and your mint. I've glued down alot of thin fabric so you learn quickly how hard to press. first degree burns no thank you!!

I also meant to add there is a good chance if the glue is thick they may be a noiceable line through the bandages so just make it a thin line or as it dries squeeze it to try to flatten it out.

If done well I think your idea could end up looking rather nice.

Yea also agreeing with the fail bit, The whole gauze head nurse idea is a horrible idea and whoever invented it should be shot. Actually take the time to make something look good instead of being lazy. What 4ng31 stated doesnt cost and more than the gauze thing and it makes it look good instead of like well a bunch of bandages around your face.

The bandage/hot glue idea not only sounds fail, but it also sounds really messy. I mean, that it would look like a mess.

get plaster cloth. you can buy a big roll of it for like... 5 - 7 bucks at michaels craft store.
it works GREAT. i used it for my mask last year. it looks like this <a href="http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y55/scythesofjack/?action=view&current=plaster.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y55/scythesofjack/plaster.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

i kinda have a video on youtube about how to make the mask but its completly finished in the vid i have up.. but it also shows how to stain it and such. im trying to get my video of me actually applying the plaster to my face but its being lame. :(

but yeah pretty much just put pantiehoes over your head ( you dont wana get this in your hair)
and cut teh plaster into strips and dip it in water and just apply it to your face and make your mask. what i did was i made three long strips down my head so one that went halfway down the back of my head and two strips right over my ears that went halfway as well. i got gause and bandages and i would put the mask on ( make sure the strips are built up well so they can be strong) and i would wrap the bangages around my head and tightly over the strips so i would bandage the strips to my had thats connected to the mask ect ect. it kept teh mask in place and allowed me to bandage my head.

* shrug* thats just how i did it i know other people have their ways too.

if you have any questions just ask :)

I've got a tutorial on how to make a decent-looking nurse mask for cheap saved in here somewhere...better than gauze, anyway.
Concurring with 4ng and Blood on the gauze idea, but I won't go there.
Anyhow, here's the tutorial:

Not my personal favorite for a nurse mask, but looks helluva lot better than gauze and ketchup or what have you.

I have a relatively easy one too.
Supplies:
1.) a "ghoul hood" (one of those black masks that make you look like you have no face)
2.) gauze strips
3.) a bottle of flesh toned liquid laytex
4.) A foam wighead.

Step 1: Pad the wighead to where it is roughly the size of a normal human head OR do the duct tape head mold method mentioned above. Either way..you need a head.

2.)A. Put on the ghoul mask and mark with white chalk where your eyes, and noseholes will be.
B. Put the ghoul hood over top of the wig head. Keep the marks where they eyes, noseholes and even the mouth will be.

3.) Cut strips of gauze (about four inches long)

4.) Dip gauze into liquid laytex until strip is covered. Place strips all over the ghoul hood. Great thing about this is that you can bunch up the gauze or pull it as straight as you need. Just don't cover the areas where your eyes and noseholes will be. Do this in a well ventilated area because liquid laytex STINKS.

5.) When you're done let it dry for 48 hours.

6.) Remove and voila! (the liquid laytex may soak through onto the wighead and be a pain to remove..just peel slowly..lol)

Some things to remember...this mask will be VERY tight on your face. I made mine and it smooshes my nose down a little bit so I can only wear it for a couple of hours at a time.
Oh and it smells bad inside because of the laytex but a few drops of scented oil fixed that right up..lol
