Anyone planning on cosplaying some Marvel Comics characters this year?
I'm thinking of a few myself.

Marvel =)

I've done Scream from Venom: Lethal Protector and Mary Jane (zombified wedding gown version) from the cover of Marvel Zombies # 5 so far. I have 2 DC comics cosplays planned for this year (although one isn't technically DC...it's an adapted version of a DC comic)...Regardless!!! I'll be doing some more Mary Jane costumes because my bf will be getting a Spidey suit soon =3

What Marvel characters are you planning?

Well, I'm a short, somewhat hairy bloke, so I'm actually leaning towards doing a Wolverine/Logan costume, although I might be doing the "street clothes" version to start while I try to figure out how to get that yellow and blue to work in-person, LOL.

Its not for this year, but for D*C 2010 I'm planning to do a rogue costume, specifically

I definatly have marvel stuff planned for this year, I'm going to me making mystique and polaris (hopefuly) for myself, Rogue for my friend and part of Gambit for my boyfriend (its a bit of a coloboration piece)

A group of us will be doing X-Men for Brisnova. I'm working on Beast, though may fall back to Juggernaut (comics version) or Sabretooth, depending on difficulty in making the costume look decent.

moonflower - I love that costume of Rogue's. :3 I love so many of Rogue's costumes, actually. XD

I've got two versions of Gambit done, bringing one to Megacon this year, along with a pajamas version. So far, I've done his post-X-Treme outfit (no pink!) and his tuxedo from X-Men: TAS. If things go as planned, there's gonna be an X-Men pajama party after Megacon on Friday. :3 I'm excited. I'm also pretty sure I'm going to work on a movie-verse Gambit to wear to the Wolverine movie.

I mean... I'm not a total Gambit fangirl.

I also want to cosplay Mystique or Rogue in the S.H.I.E.L.D uniform they wear in House of M, 'cause those outfits look awesome. I also wanna try Shadowcat from Wolverine and the X-Men. I still like the show less than TAS and Evo, but Kitty has the most adorable uniform ever. :3

All my other comic book ventures thus far are Vertigo. I want to do some ElfQuest cosplays in the future... which is... sorta kinda not really Marvel cosplay? XD They were published through Marvel for a bit, at least.

I want so badly to do an X-men character I just can't decide which! I love so many of them but with the Mord-Sith costume under-way I really don't want to do two skin-tight outfits in the same year. If anyone has suggestions for a good character though, I'd love to hear them.

I'm another who is doing a Rogue costume, for Comic-con San Diego. In her green and white outfit from X-men #192.

I've got the wig almost completed... need to get crackin on her suit though. It's been hard finding the right green for it.

I want to put together a cosplay of Toad from Ultimate X men and Evolution. I think it will be fun to do but challenging. But figuring out how to do the full green body skin seems to be a nightmare right now but I will keep trying!

I'm working on revamping my Punisher to the War Zone film version tonight. In total I've done
Jigsaw from The Punisher
The Punisher
Dusk from Slingers
Ultimate Hawkeye

Marvel =)

I've done Scream from Venom: Lethal Protector

Omg, Marry me please! ^^

Which reminds me I have always wanted to do a Lasher Cosplay, or at the very least Phage, I have the claws for that one!

There is a member that has done an amazing Toxin cosplay.

Wow.... I just realized that Scream bit was embarrassing..

So far I've done X-23(Target X version) and Layla Miller(though it was kinda rushed so I'll re-do it someday)
I'm currently working on Squirrel Girl, X-23(New X-Men version[black]) and some form of Kitty Pryde. I'd like to do the Wolverine and the X-Men one but I'm not very skilled yet so I'm thinking maybe just Excalibur with a Lockheed and Widget at my side.
For the future though, I'd really like more Kitty/X-23 costumes and I'm DYING to do a Dead Girl costume. She's so rad.

I'm planning on making Domino from Cable/Deadpool (simply because I prefer her design there, rather in her one shot), the problem is its really hard to find good references of her, partially because I can only find a few of my issues of C/D. The internet isn't very helpful on the reference front, apparently I'm the only one who likes Domino.

Hahaha ummm sorry I'm taken...but thank you XD

I really love cosplaying Scream and once my bf gets his Spidey suit, we're gonna do a photoshoot. I originally wanted to have a group of all the symbiotes, but that never happened. It'd be neat to do a photoshoot with Venom, too. You should definitely do Lasher or Phage...obscure characters need more love =3

Later this year I plan on putting together Jubilation Lee from X-Men. And I have a friend who's working on Dark Phoenix and Black Cat. We're looking to debut them at Comic Con.

I am seriously considering doing an Iron Fist cosplay to wear as one of my cosplays this year.
I usually have one cosplay that is armor or some such that is terribly awkward to hang out in for more than a few hours total that I enter for competition.
I tend to need some sort of cosplay to change into afterwards to browse around the convention in that allows for pockets and mobility .

My g/f and I are debuting our Rogue and Gambit costumes(yes, how cliche) at sdcc this year. She's having her suit custom made(Jim Lee 90's version) and I'm piecing together my Gambit. I'm trying to make it a more practical approach. It's still gonna be fairly Jim Lee 90's canon, but more like, how would this costume be put together in the real world? My big drawback I'm forseeing is the neck/cowel piece. If any Gambits out there have a good solution. I'm all ears. See ya at SDCC 09!

On Sunday our group did the X-Men cosplay for Brisbane Supanova and I'm very pleased to report we won Best Team Cosplay :toothy:

We had Professor Xavier, Cyclops, Dark Phoenix, Sabretooth, Wolverine, Petra, Jubilee, Gambit and myself as Beast. Plus we had Colonel Nick Fury.

One of the volunteers was dressed as Pixie - sans wings but with the full black eyes - and joined us for some group photos.

My first cosplay and I think I'm hooked.

Eventually (when I am not feeling that spandex is the devil and can find decent contacts), I would like to do a Snowbird cosplay. It may take a while to get done since I have a laundry list of costumes yet to get done before it, but I think that would be so much fun to give Alpha Flight some love

I am planning on cos playing as a Purifier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purifiers) from the X-Men or the current series of X-Force.

I'm planning on making Domino from Cable/Deadpool (simply because I prefer her design there, rather in her one shot), the problem is its really hard to find good references of her, partially because I can only find a few of my issues of C/D. You might want be looking around for Cable / Deadpool #11, #28-29. The cover for Cable Deadpool 11 might be a good reference for you.
Or if you can tolerate the Liefield's artwork, try the second X-Force series

All the other references that I can think of is the earlier version of her.

I've been planning a M/Monet St Croix cosplay but I'm torn as to which version to do. Since I've never really worked with a full catsuit before, I'm leaning towards one that is a solid color. So it's either her first Generation X outfit or her New X Men outfit.

I'm planning on doing Cyclops. I'm hoping to base his look off his appearance in the new cartoon "Wolverine and the X-Men".
http://skiffy.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/xmen.jpg
My only issue is with the hood area. How would I make that?

dreamsofnever
05-05-2009, 02:32 AM
SonicMan, you could perhaps get a zentai suit (you can find them on ebay) and alter it. If you're not familiar, zentai suits cover your entire face, so you would just need to cut away from the facial area.

And *sigh* No offense to the 99% of people who adore Wolverine, but... Wolverine and the X-Men? The character is already so over-exposed and now he's getting a title series with 'and the X-Men' as a second thought?

Feh. Then again, this is from someone whose favorite character is Superman. (talk about overexposed! LOL)

That's a great Cyclops costume though. And I really love the Storm costume, from what I can see of it!

You'll have to post pictures once you start working on it :)

And... my contribution to the Marvel thread-I have a fantastic Phoenix costume (it was a commission from a very talented costumer!) from X3 that I've worn on a few occasions. It's in my costumes gallery and I just love it. My husband went as movie Cyclops and when we went out on Halloween, we actually found a random Wolverine to pose with. He was a pretty good Wolverine too.

It's a really great show, though. I hesitated, too, at first. BUT Steve Blum makes an AMAZING Wolverine, and the team is basically just Astonishing X-Men.
HOW CAN ANYONE RESIST THAT!?
I really recommend giving it a try.

I'll admit Wolverine over-exposed xD
And I once dressed up as him, but Im thinking about doing again but mainly because of the X-Force version, which I think is really awesome.

There was always Colossus as he is my favorite character or X-Man but I would want to get huge-er before doing that...and magically taller xD

Me neither! XD I just had that idea recently after all of my friends started comparing me to him. Have you ever had that happen? Just a random person says "Hey, ya know, you really remind me of..." and you just dismiss it as one person's opinion, and then like five other people say it within the next week?

I'm an acrobatic dancer/martial artist and I compete doing bo staff forms, so Gambit should be pretty fitting. I throw playing cards as a hobby as well (it's strangely fun! You should look up a tutorial on YouTube and give it a shot. It's addictive. XD) and recently fell in love with the city of New Orleans. Because of my acrobatics, I can't have any cumbersome body armor though.

I'm thinking of doing Gambit's costume in a style like the Spiderman movie costume and having his torso armor just be part of a full body suit and I can put the "webbing" material on the borders of it so that it looks like a separate piece. Then I'll airbrush the muscle definition on to give it a more comic-book feel.

This is the look I'm going for:
http://quizfarm.com/images/1171309925Gambit.jpg

I posted a thread asking for help on it, but being the genius I am, I posted it in the wrong forum. So it seems as though little aid will come of that. :c

The Wolverine costume is super simple because I'm doing street-clothes. (Actually jeans, boots, no shirt and dog tags) Pretty much all I have to do is get claws, facial hair and hairspray.

And to join in the cartoon discussion: I do like the new X-Men cartoon. It's interesting to see Logan as more of a leader than the rebel who is constantly breaking the rules. And it also is infinitely more pleasing to the comic-purists than X-Men: Evolution was. Though, I liked that show too. It's pretty hard to displease me as long as X-Men are involved. (And they tried VERY hard in X3. D: )

One thing I'm REALLY confused on though... I had expected there to be a flood of Wolverines this year. Like last year there were way too many Jokers because the Dark Knight came out. The year before there were a load of Spartans (myself included!) because of 300. Wolverine's movie just came out (mediocre, but good enough for the fanboys) so I'm pretty shocked to see the lack of Wolvie cosplayers on here.

Hey Spartan, I'm actually going to do Wolverine too but the X-Force version. That is the costume I found amazing since I picked up the latest book. You're right about a lack of Wolverine's, but maybe they will start showing up by the dozens at the line-up of conventions coming up real soon o:

Good luck with your costume!

Spartan, I hope you can figure that out, and you better post photos when you do. XD I've been thinking of working on another Gambit costume, and one like that would be interesting (though I'm not sure at all possible for a crossplay for me...), but I will fangirl hardcore when you pull it off.

Also, it'll be pretty awesome to see a Wolverine with the bone claws.

I need to upload photos from Megacon still - my friends decided last second they were going to do an X-Men group, so since some of them were so last-minute, we decided to go with a theme - Recession X-Men. It was so much fun. XD

Whoa. I missed this post the first time I read through. I would LOVE to see a Nightcrawler costume. That would be so wicked.

yeah I actually did a really crappy Nightcrawler costume in like 7th grade for halloween and I still have the halloween trench coat that I used XD being 5'1" means that most of my clothes still fit me XD so yeah, the hardest part will be doing the tail. Ironically I actually found someone that cosplayed Nightcrawler and actually made a tail that moved and what not so I am hopeing to be able to make something like that if I am able to get all of the materials and find someone good with stuff like that XD. So yeah, Nightcrawler and Nocturne probably aren't going to happen anytime soon unless I find someone to help me with the tail....plus there is also the fact of finding wigs for each person, Nightcrawler from X2 will probably be the most annoying for his hair only! If worse comes to worse I'll just have my hair cut like his and dyed. XD -_-"

This is who I got the idea for tail from: http://homepage.mac.com/bohemian_junkie/nightcrawler.htm

Just got into Marvel about a week ago, and I fell in love with Bucky. I got my hair cut recently so it'll fit under my wigs for the next few cons, and it's about the length Bucky's hair is when it got pretty long while he was Winter Soldier, so I'm thinking about a Winter Soldier costume. <3

What I plan on doing for my Marvel cosplay and I've kinda been keeping this under wraps until now,I am making Blackheart, I already have the body suit done and finished boy what a lot of latex, and now I am sculpting his head and crafting his "dredlocks" this much I can say is that looking geeky out of costume then looking totally evil in the costume is one helluva change.

j/k I watched your video on youtube.

I think that Sabretooth didnt get recognized because X-Men Evolution is the lesser favorite from all the animated X-Men series.

But still I think its awesome!

To add something on topic Im working on Wade Wilson from X-Men Origins Wolverine for an event at my university in a few weeks and a friend of mine allready has a Victor Creed costume (he wore his at the midnight showing of the movie).

I'm contemplating adding this version (http://img2.imageshack.us/my.php?image=8732817557silverfoxlarg.jpg) of Silver Fox to my list, but... the boots= PAIN. >_<;;

Okay, so since you guys are all the Marvel costuming whizzes, I figured I'd ask you guys some questions I have. I'm currently trying to put together a Pixie costume for my friend for Comic-Con(Skottie Young version to go along with my SY X-23) and I can't seem to find the right wig for her or any wings that come close to hers. I also have NO CLUE where to find black contacts, but those are just an extra thing if we have the time/money.
if you guys have any ideas for wig/ how to make/find the wings, I'd basically love you forever. lol

Well for her ears you can go this route http://www.aradanicostumes.com/elfears.php
But for the wings, hmm I'm not really sure what to use besides cutting a very thin sheet of plexiglass.

thanks for that! They're perfect! I totally forgot about the ears, too. DUH.
I was thinking maybe these (http://www.amiclubwear.com/2076gold.html) for the wings. And just going over the gold with pink/something irridescent.

For the wings those will do nicely about all you might have to do is add a little more color to it.

Hey on a side note Nightmare6 where did you get your Cobra outfit from or did you make it yourself?

This one I had a woman on Ebay make for me. Her user name is Hunny Lee (I think?). She had a blue outfit only originally, but I had her do a black with red trim one. Now she has three versions on Ebay for sale, LOL. The original blue, a black one and a black with red trim :)

I had another jacket before, but that one was custom-designed, but I didn't like it in the end.

The hood I had made for me by this wrestling mask maker. The one in the pic is the second mask, as the first mask wasn't long enough for my taste. I still have it if you want to purchase the first mask (you can get an idea of it's length by looking in my pics).

The contacts you are looking for are the sclera ones they are all black. Scleras can be pretty pricey even on the sites that are cheaper.

$269-$299.
If it sounds cool I have a few links......but yeah those scleras.......woooooo!

I did Rescue (Pepper Potts's armored identity from Invincible Iron Man) at Comic Con. It was really just because Matt Fraction was there and I wanted ot be the first to do and for him to see it. He was really excited about it, by the way.

So that was cool, but personally, I HATED my costume. I had a lot of complications and people who were supposed to help me bailed, so I did this all on my own with no idea on how to do it. I am however in the works of vacuuforming it and doing a spandex undersuit that's the right color. So by next year, hopefully, it'll be something I can actually be proud of. But I am on Marvel.com with this which is cool.

I'm thinking of moving towards a variant that leans more towards the costume decisions made for the movies (fabric: definately, raised webs: maybe) but for the life of me I can't figure out how they did it.

Does anyone have any techniques or tutorials or sources that could help me out here?

@chloeandthehawk : Its looking very good thus far. The extensions are great. Are you planning to sew on the yellow sections? What are you doing for boots?

@Amanita The costume itself is a matching pant and long tailed coat in a grey wool. For boots check out rubber riding boots and some black leather driving gloves.

@vampricyoda I would think of it simular to the cartoon/comic juggernaut and the movie. The actor is no where near the size and bulk but done right it is pulled off pretty well.

that magneto cosplay is going to be awesome!
For Rogue, I plan on trying fabric paint to see if it works. otherwise, I may just sew on the yellow. It can't hurt to try, I can always sew it on over the paint!

For my boots I'm going to make boot covers out of yellow felt- the texture is so perfect compared to comic and show Rogue

My friend and I were totally planning on going to Metrocon as Fem Scott Summer and Fem Pietro, but I don't think we are going to be able to make it. ;-; SAD FACE

We already know how to make our costumes cheap and decent looking. She just needs to find a black wig and we need to find somewhere to get white boots. Maybe rainboots?

But Northstar will come for megacon! if not him then male rouge whichever one i have money and time for

I suggest online. Rainboots could work, but if you can order things online amazon is great for shoes, and E-bay is great for Wigs. Or if you can find a Sally's or something, they sometimes have wigs. I am so glad I live 2 minutes away from a really nice wig store that has nice and cheap wigs.

So, I'm planning a Dr. Doom for 2012, and right now I'm trying to figure out how to construct various pieces of the armour.

The mask, neck, pauldrons, torso, and shins are the pieces I'm not worried about constructing, because I have extensive tutorials on hand and I know how I'll build the pieces in such a way that I can wear them easily without compromising the appearence (and the appearence of the torso I'm not even worried about, since the tunic will cover that part.)

There's a few details that I'm stumped about, though. I've got these worries:

- Keeping the armour from limiting my mobility too much when I'm wearing it. I'm guessing I would need to have the upper and lower arms in seperate pieces so that my joints could move?

- How will the upper arms and upper legs stay in place on my body? I know I should probably wear a bodysuit beneath the armour as a base... but I'm confused as to how the armour on my upper arms/legs would stay in place with the bodysuit

- Hands. Oh god, the hands. I think my best bet is using instructions from automail tutorials?

- I want to put some sort of voice changer device in the mask so that I don't sound like a spazzy girl in university when I speak. How would I go about rigging that sort of thing up?

Any guidelines or pokes about places to go with my questions would be HUGELY appreciated. <3

I'm going to go to various, yet to be decided cons as various Marvel comics characters--mostly variations of Jean Grey, in her Green, Red, and White Phoenix outfits.

I'm also throwing in Hope Summers from the new Second Coming arc, and a custom Umbra Witch Phoenix (Bayonetta style design), as well as a possible "X-Force" Phoenix.

I'm also doing an Umbra Witch Rogue for my girlfriend. :3

In anticipation of the Thor and Captain America (which comes out on my birthday! YES!) film, a group of friends and I are going as both a group of Aesir, I will be Tyr. For Captain America, we have a group of five going as characters like Cap, Bucky Cap, Anti-Cap, US Agent, and Protocide, who I will be playing.

Tyr is gonna be fun, though I am really looking forwards to Protocide. Already getting everything ready.

I'm debating between two of my favorite Marvel characters for a cosplay.

Man-thing and Rom Spaceknight.

My father's friend, Bob Wiacek, worked on Star Wars, X-men, Spiderman, Iron Man, Man-thing and countless other series back in the 70's and 80's. We have numerous copies of comics he personally gave my father and had signed, and I grew up reading them. We would also visit him on occasion, and being an illustrator myself, I would show off my progression and he said that if I keep at it I may be able to work on comics as well :D He has invited us to go to New York Comic Con with him in the future, and I wanted to be something from the Marvel universe for that.

I noticed that no one has attempted Rom since the original promotional costume was made 30 years ago (in part, perhaps, because Marvel lost the rights to the character and his role in the universe has been put on hiatus). I am four issues away from completing my Rom collection and feel that, of the Marvel characters, he is perhaps one of the most chivalrous and conflicted individuals ever put on paper. Aside from being perceived as the enemy by almost all other heroes at first for slaying Dire Wraiths in the form of humans, Rom is also caught up in a love triangle in which he at first wants no part because of his state as a cyborg. :( The problem is his height, really, and being female is a major disadvantage with his figure. I could be Starshine, a female spaceknight, but I would prefer to be Rom.

As for Man-thing, I am also close to completing the second series (the one Wiachek worked on). I loved how the narration addressed the swamp monster as "you" so that you were literally Ted Sallis in his montrous state, shambling about aimlessly while accidentally burning those who knew fear at your touch (which is hard to avoid when your very visage inspired the emotion in others). Unlike Rom he is still very much a part of the universe. I have seen about 4 cosplays made of him (none on this site) and one looks amazing! It would require techniques I have never used before and alot of added bulk, but it would be very rewarding.

With American comic book heroes I always find it diffucult to find characters to be because I want to avoid wearing only spandex and want to be masked and covered. I would like your opinion on these two because I love them both so much and can't decide between them!

Keep up the good work! Excelsior!

Alright, so as part of a S.H.I.E.L.D. group next year, my boyfriend and I are being Nick Fury and Valentina. We've also got a Dum Dum Dugan, a Black Widow, and a Maria Hill and we're trying to find a Daisy.

What's stumping us right now is S.H.I.E.L.D. patches: namely, where to find them, because I've had no luck.

I've found this page (http://www.amazon.com/Marvels-Homeland-Enforcement-Shield-PATCH/dp/B00282O0XG) for some that look good, but the patches don't seem to be available right now and I'm having some trouble looking for them. Moon Knight (marvels answer to Batman)

Sigh.... not the case, but whatever, I'm tired of the argument

I would dry a dance store, they have the white pants and gloves he has, the mask can either be white or black, so if that's the case, I would use swimsuit fabric, it's light, stretchy, and breathable.

My friends and I were thinking of doing a Marvel group for next year's Anime Expo. One wants to go as female Cable, the other Deadpool. The rest are still undecided (though one was thinking of doing this INSANE Thing costume involving a body suit and gluing a ridiculous amount of mattress foam to it...)

I'm also contemplating going as a female Gambit, but that depends on many factors, such as whether I deem myself in shape enough by the time the con rolls around (seriously; have you ever seen a out of shape superhero?) and if I can afford the sclera lenses I REALLY want.

I did Punisher for Megacon this year but barely got noticed by anyone. Might have been cause I didn't have the jacket. I had body armor on with the Thomas Jane movie style skull on the chest that I drew on with whiteout. I'd like to actually decide on a version of him to do, but his gear seems to change with every new series that comes out. I'm partial to the 2004 movie version and the Max series, but sometimes I like the old white boots/belt and gloves with the black suit. I'd do that version if I wasn't afraid of how spandex looks.

on a side note, anyone know where you can find white holsters, gloves and boots? I'd hate to have to paint them and have the paint chip off.

Great! I'll be looking for you guys next year then!

Doesn't it? I kept complaining about it because EVERY con I've been to has let in the gun but NOT the nightstick, and this time they did the complete opposite... Eh getting peace bonded is easy, you just go to a table, show your weapons and they tell you if they are suitable for the convention or not. Not sure if there's a limit, I don't think so considering some anime/comic book characters do carry alot of weaponary on them sometimes, but you never know, when I read the Weapon Policy, I usually skim to the gun/sword sections and skip everything else (since its mostly common knowledge type of stuff anyway).

Moon Knight, Marvel's answer to Batman? Hardly! I think Shadow Fox fits that better, since he modeled his outfit after a bat and is a detective who uses bat-shaped devices and vehicles, LOL. Moon Knight only briefly went through the Batman phase in the mid-90s, and even then that was mainly one story arc where we saw Moon-Dino, Space Moon, Dark Moon and etc.

Having already seen one Moon Knight cosplayer in skin-tight clothes, yes, the armor would work so much better, LOL!

I went to Dragon*Con this year, and it was honestly the best convention I have ever gone to. And it was by far the most fun I have ever had at a convention, and I cannot wait for next year. I kind of went last minute, so I didn't get to make many new costumes, but I did have time to make a new Marvel costume. Along with all my others, that I know I have posted on here before, I added Elektra onto my list of cosplays. I never though I would cosplay Elektra, and it was really random, but I had a lot of fun, and got many compliments, so I'll need to put her on again at some point.

Zombie Hadouken

the cheapest good spidey suit ive seen is around $300-$400, if your just gonna tear it up, buy a cheapy suit, and i can give you a link for really good eye frames.

came across all kinds of suits when doing zombie spidey, it is way cheaper just to buy a crappy suit and modify it than to commission one. Good suits will cost $300-$2000 which is fuckin ridiculous. i could make 5 other costumes, or commission my Planet Hulk for half that.

Thanks for the link.
And I would love to go to W.Con, but I don't have enough haha maybe next year? My only trip to the West Coast is usually saved up for SDCC. I did make an exception to AnimeExpo though but I'll try to change it up for 2011.

Oh and X-23 confirmed for MvC3!!!

New here. Happy to see so many Marvel costumers! I'm planning a Hellions/New Mutants group for Dragon*Con 2011. Message me if you're interested in joining! I'm thinking about making Surge or (mostly likely) as Hellion.

they will keep revealing more and more as the release gets closer - im hoping for a shitload of characters, like in MVC2, (i dont remember the exact amount) but it seemed like there at least 40 playable characters.

_BTW, if Surfers not in it, i can get my brother a cheap spidey suit for this.

reading about the MvC3 group for SDCC has made me jealous >3<
curse living on the East Coast (and having no chance in hell of going anytime soon)
if I could go i'd definitely be Dormammu for it (despite the fact that I would probably be shorter than everyone else xD)

he's gonna be my main cosplay for the game ;)

and other than that i'm kinda new to Marvel cosplaying but plan to do Anti-Venom too in the future :)

I just meant about not being able to go to SDCC.
but I live in Virginia and there's no way my parents would want to travel to New York or anywhere else just for a convention =_____=""
so I stick to ones close by.

I know about a comic convention in Richmond, VA, but that may still be too far to travel, especially during school time and my family having a lack of interest in almost everything I like Dx

Welcome! I think I did before? Still pumped about Dragon Con despite how far away it is. Had such a great time this year. I'm hooked!

@Ringo
Welcome! And seeing Dormammu would be pretty awesome. Short or tall, don't matter for me. I plan on using more of the Marvel side when it comes to MvC3. I love both companies, but the Marvel team just has more characters I'm interested in playing than the Capcom family. There is still hope since not everyone has been announced yet :)

@Core
Bishop is awesome! will it be old school Bishop from the 90's?
And I wish I could go to NYCC.... perhaps next year!

@Zombie
Good news. A recent interview pointed out something interesting concerning MvC3. Check it out.
"Most interestingly, Seth mentions that at the current character count, we are hovering around the halfway mark. If this is to be believed, at 20-22 characters shown at the time of this interview, then we might be able to expect a roster closer to 40 than 30. 30 was the number being thrown around in past interviews, using the line "at least 30 characters" will be playable when the game launches."

@T.S.- im glad that they are expanding on the roster, with the initial promo shots, i was worried it would end up like Street Fighter 4 and have only a handful of characters.
I cant wait to see who will end up in it...

I wish Leon (resident evil 2) was in it, he was my favorite from the series.

Oh and they just revealed MODOK, Spencer, Arthur, and Magneto!

Almost completely finished with my Moon Knight noir cosplay. Have two crescent darts, and a blade for the wrist. All in all, I think phase one turned out great. Phase two will require slightly more expensive material, but that can wait. YESSSSSSSS

Now have a crescent dart attached to a chain. Very pleased with it. The moon was actually a gift, and its special

And for some reason, I thought so. Not TOO many girl Deadpool's at cons, even though there is a Lady Deadpool character. But anyway, yay for female Cable, I'd definately want a picture of that, especially since I'm doing Deadpool. Haha, yeah it kinda was.

Your welcome, and thanks! The only thing I'm really worried about is getting my weapons peace bonded. I'm probably going to have like 5 guns or more for Major Deadpool...and this AX SUCKED peacebonding wise, they let me bring in a nightstick but not my HOMEMADE-with-no-trigger rifle...

I think that dynamic has changed. Personally, I've done a Lady Deadpool, and I know/know of about five other female Deadpool costumers, although they don't always necessarily take to the canon character of Lady Deadpool.

Hi, all. Good to see that there's a large Marvel presence on here, too! Other Marvel characters I'm working on/considering for 2011:
She-Hulk (Adi Granov's art as reference: http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l4uayuwJms1qzwhu1o1_500.jpg)
Spider-Man 2099 (I'm going to try to be as faithful to the original costume as possible. No skirt add-ons or 7'' heels here!)
Scream This, or another symbiote. Not so sure yet, but it'd be fun to tackle.
And of course, Lady Deadpool. :)

Still trolling around for other characters I'd want to do, though, starting with group photoshoots/walking groups at different conventions.

That being said... I hope to see some of you guys around at a con!

Almost finshed w/ Hawkeye. I commissioned an entire costume back in July with my annual bonus. Unfortunately, I had to remake everything (very long story with a bad dealer...) sans cowl and mask, which hindsight being what it is I should have done to begin with and saved the $.
A few shots from the sculptor (really great work!)

I would love the opportunity, unfortunately I'm in the Southwest (NM), but if you are ever down this way;)

I'm just about finished, only a few more items; the quiver needs to be covered and I had to re-pour the arm bands/pouches. The elastomeric I used was old and never "gelled" in the molds. Once done I just have to attach the magnets and airbrush (and get some pics!)

Having to work this thing actually inspired me to try another: Deadpool. I worked some of the various straps, etc. (now that I have new elastomeric to use up...) and got them molded.

A couple new shots...almost there!

Everything was airbrushed and then sealed with a clear matte. On the boots I removed the drawstring in the back and sewed a new piece of pleather over the entire cuff to make it coorect (as possible) and then painted them up. If you can afford it I recommend these (http://www.pimpinshoes.com/product/1XCSSUPCUF/CUSTOM-CUFF-SUPERHERO-BOOTS.html) or these (http://www.heroeslocker.com/product.php?id_product=95)

One bit of caution though, they are slippery. I was getting the photos done this weekend and took a few shots from a roof and almost went over the edge, not a good choice of foot wear for crime fighters...

How much do you do for commissions, if I may ask?

It really depends on the project and the level of involvement and then comes down to materials/time. I usually work with the replica side of the house, as it's much easier to replicate something that's been done vs. something original and I also try to stay away from organic type design.
Example; this project, had I not been doing it for myself, it would have been extremely expensive as I used a lot of leather and a lot of time (wet forming, airbrushing, etc.) to get it just right.
Another example; I'm currently working on a flightsuit from "Buck Rogers" for myself for an upcoming Con. The spandex itself was $14 a yd and creating the pattern from scratch will be some work so it would be a bit expensive for the suit itself. But the details like the belt/holster boxes from the belt, etc. are simple as I have the pattern already along with the "bucks" for the vacforming, so it's just materials and some time.
