I think they're all equally as popular. I skimmed through the thread and i just really want to say I hate it when people generalize rap music based on what they hear on the radio. Not all rap songs are about cars, money, sex, and drugs. If i were to base my opinion about rock from what I hear on the radio i would assume that rock music is designed for whiney, depressed, white kids from the suburbs.

Currently the most popular music genre is Hip-hop, followed closely by Country. But those are statistics from like 3 years ago.

There's alot of garbage out there today, bu it's nothing compared to the junk you saw being put out 5 years ago.

Yeah 1998 has the Titanic Soundtrack reigning over the charts and the dawn of Backstreet Boys...

but lets not forget:
Shania Twain - Come On Over
Will Smith - Big Willie Style
Beastie Boys - Hellow Nasty
Mariah Carey('s last decent album) - Butterfly
Lauyryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauyryn Hill
Janet Jackson - The Velvet Rope
Sarah McLachlain - Surfacing
BNL - Stunt
Wyclef Jean - The Carnival
Out Of Sight Movie Soundtrack
Paula Cole - This Fire

all 1998

Well.....90% of rap now IS about nothing but drugs and sex and murder and money and shit like that...UNLESS you listen to alot of underground rap...
