Hello fellow cosplayers of cosplay.com~!

I'm going as Spoiler for Naoto Shirogane. Highlight-->:Female Uniform!Naoto and I'm just having trouble with the top design :c I have references and everything but it's mainly the back part (the flap?) that is giving me the most trouble; I'm not sure how to make it. ^^; But does anyone have any tutorials, advice or a pattern they can suggest to me? I would greatly appreciate the help if anyone can do any of those things~!

Much thanks~!

A reference picture would be most helpful.

Here's the Persona thread: http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=43016

And here's a video I found that explains how to sew a sailor...fuku...thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6iVT0vPtBc

Ahhhhhh ha, the Japanese schoolgirl uniform.

I assume you have the jacket part down, if you're worried about the flap? If not, you could basically use any tailored/fitted suit jacket pattern and alter as needed. (Tailored/fitted will have the distinctive seams running vertically down the middle, a la empire seams.)

The flap can honestly be made using a hood pattern--just don't sew the top seam of the hood. In other words--make the hood pattern, square the ends off, sew the rear seam (which becomes the center back seam of the flap) but don't let it curve. Attach to the neck seam as usual, finishing with a turn-and-stitch.
