I'm doing May and all I have left to do is the hat. Does anyone have any tips for doing this? I have no idea how to start it. I thought that I could give it height and durability with some cardboard, but how in the world would I make an actual hat out of that?
I'm at a loss....please help. x_x

FFFF wish I'd seen this before.
For my May hat, I used a foamcore base, and covered it with orange fabric. It's.. kinda ghetto looking TBH LMAO but it works well enough. Use the squishy, fabric-y sort of foam, the kind that you find in bra inserts and shoulderpads, rather than craft foam. Think of it as being used like interfacing, only as a sculpted structure.
Roll up the ends that would go under your hair, try to make it as flat as possible. Then shape the sides that tape up to the front of the hat and meet up at the front. Then cover all of that with orange fabric, whatever you're using to make the dress.
For the skull, you can build it out of paperclay or crayola model magic.
Hope this helps you in time!

Keeping with Guilty Gear, because I did not want to start a new thread, I'm working in a Testament cosplay, and I am not quite sure as to how I might go about making the scythe. I can deal with anything fabric, but when it gets to props, I sort of start to fail. I was thinking, there's this dense blue insulation polystyrene foam that the shop in my theatre uses to build light structures and such; I could theoretically use that. What do you guys think?
