Hey everyone! I wanted to make this thread in case anybody has any questions about the Cosplay Carnevale or the Hall Costume Contest :D

Also, I have some updates!

The Cosplay Carnevale registration form is now available online here (http://www.metroconventions.com/control.cfm?ID=4022)! Feel free to print it out and bring it with you to the con, or if you'd like to make sure you get an early judging slot email me your filled out form at cosplay@animemetro.com. If you do email me your form, make sure to stop by the cosplay registration booth once you arrive at the con to check in.

Also, I want to announce the new Friday pre-judging time slots! If you would like to have more of your Saturday to enjoy the con, you can opt to have your Cosplay Carnevale costume entry judged on Friday instead! That way you will be free to do whatever you want with your early Saturday like watching the chess match, and won't need to be in costume for the stage presentation until 4pm. These time slots are limited so if you would like to be judged on Friday please make sure to email me or register at the convention on Friday as early as possible.

Cosplay Registration Booth Hours of Operation:
Friday:10am 6pm
Saturday:9am 4pm
(cutoff for Cosplay Carnevale Registration is 11am Saturday)

Pre-Judging Times:
Friday: Room 21: 3pm 5pm
Saturday: Room 20: 10am 12pm
Saturday: Room 20: 1pm 3pm

Also, not only will there be separate Best in Show awards for both Skit and Costume entries, but we will have a special combined Best of Show award for the best Skit/Costume combination! So bring us your best costumes and skits!!

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask! Feel free to PM me as well.

Laina, can I tell you how nice it is to have a form I can fill out pre-con?! I always forget a bunch of stuff if I try to write it all at the con.....also thanks for letting us send them in before the con!

Aw man. I can't get that saturday morning off from work so I'm missing registration AND pre-judging. Looks like I'm not entering this year. :3

Still gonna wear the wedding dress on Saturday for Metro, especially for the Masquerade. :)

Are you just missing the morning? Because if you send in your form online and can make it to the judging time after lunch/1pm then you could still enter :o I'm guessing Friday judging isn't an option?

I get off work at 1:30 and live in Lakeland so between preparation time and the drive there it'd be impossible. And Friday I get off late so I won't be at Metrocon at all that day.

However, there's a silver lining! If I can finish my husband's Gankutsuou costume I'll enter it into the contest since he has Saturdays off.

Ah, just happened to spot this forum in a quick browse, and ive got a question. We have a skit planned, but also have two cute costumes we're wanting to enter in just the walk-on category; is there any way we can enter twice? like do the skit first, then do the costume walk on later? The cute costumes aren't in the skit, but we can bring them and change into them in the back.

You can only enter the Cosplay Carnevale once. So you have to either do the skit, or just the costumes. However we do craftsmanship judge costumes even with skit entries, so you're still eligible for regular costumes awards if you do a skit!

If you'd really like to be able to show off your cute costumes too, then I suggest entering the Hall Costume Contest on Friday :)

i do have some questions to ask about the hall contest.

i was planing on entering my halloween style mad hatter but i dont know if it would be within the lines of the rules.

some parts of the costume like the pants shirt and tie wernt made by me but altered to fit me. the jacket, vest and and so on are made by me. the halloween style mad hatter isnt a series but would i still be able to enter it if the costume is ok?

if you get what im saying, this is my first over all costume contest so im clueless. 8)

Original costumes are allowed in the Hall Contest so you can enter your Mad Hatter :D

And as long as you made the main costume parts yourself it's fine!

Yes you can! Although smaller groups are encouraged since once you get past 3 or 4 people it's hard to fit everyone in the photo XD

Heya! Just popping in with a quick note :D

If you plan to email me your Cosplay Carnevale pre-reg then please do it by Wednesday night. If it's sent any time after that there's no guarantee that I'll get it. I'll be heading to the con on Thursday right after work.

Also there are still Friday pre-judging slots available! You can get a Friday slot by either emailing me or registering at the con on Friday before 4pm.

Good luck to everyone finishing costumes! X3

Is the early registration only for the cosplay contest, or can you early reg for the costume contest as well? I was a little confused. Also, is it the same form for both? And one more thing, is it possible to early register for the Hall contest as well?

The Cosplay Carnevale is one combined cosplay/costume contest, with both skits and costume walk-ons. So yes, early pre-reg is for both costumes and skits :D

You can only register for the hall contest at the convention on Friday, because you have to have your photo taken in costume for it :D Then on Saturday con-goers will vote on their favorite costumes based on the photos.

The information for the 2010 contests are not live yet. It should be up soon. This thread is a bit old.
