I'm thinking of doing Yoko's OVA costume. Y'know, that purple thing with the orange? (http://i39.tinypic.com/n31949.jpg) Problem is, I can't really sew (I made a pair of pants a few years ago), I have little to no reference pictures (that right there's about as good as it gets) and I have no idea where to start drafting a pattern. Fortunately I have tons of experienced sewers around me, so I can get some help, but... it won't be much use if I can't get a pattern or at least a place to start.

I looked at some kimono patterns, but I don't think they'll really work.

So I guess I'm asking for general help with making her outfit. I'll be fine for her wig, hairpiece, arm bands etc, I just really need help with her kimono dress thing.

Or even if you have better reference pictures, or pictures of somebody else cosplaying her, It would help me out so much.

What it looks like to me is a purple sleeveless robe with an orange obi and a purple jacket.
The "robe" just goes straight down your sides, no need to make it form-fitting. But it looks like it reveals the top half of her breasts. The orange lines going around the hem of the "robe" and around the top(circling the neck) The obi patter can be found online(I think.>.<'' I remember seeing it several places, even teaching how to put it on.) And the jacket can be made with a pattern(though you might need to find a dress pattern that has those sleeves and just use that piece of the pattern.)I can't see the other sleeve but it looks like it's wide and long, ending at her knuckles, but I'm not sure.>.<'''' Also, the jacket comes up to clip together around the neck with a small orange bow(?_?).
For the orange lines, it looks likes it circles the top, goes down, and circles the hem of the "robe". You don't see it cuz she turns it inward, prolly to make it tighter around her chest but still even like it suposed to be.
The wrist bands are just black medical bandages. I don't know if they come in black so you might need to dye it.
You can find pattens of everything mentioned in Simplicity or another pattern company. And if you need help with the sleeves, this might be helpful: http://www.vintagesewing.info/1940s/42-mpd/mpd-04.html
It's got sleeve designs galore!!
