The new prize is still unbelievably amazing though :D The people who win will get a stress free and fun vacation instead of having to worry about another competition, you know? It's awesome that NYAF is offering an opportunity like that. Wow!

I'm actually glad that my boyfriend and I didn't make any major plans to compete this year, though we will be in attendance and possibly entering the Masquerade together, if we can think of a decent skit. So...make that...three teams of Floridians? That's pretty awesome, haha.

I know another Florida pair who is entering too, so there should be at least four! :) I hope Hanamaru and I see you guys there so we won't feel as lonely in the city. Haha. I've never been to New York or done a cosplay skit before, it's kinda scary! Well, have fun making costumes and I'll see you guys soon! <3

Sorry about the Entry form boo boo. A lot of us were at Otakon this weekend, plotting world domination via the new contest, and we got a FLOOD of entries for this thing apparently. Which is great, considering what's being planned.

Good luck to all the future contestants, I'm looking forward to watching you all perform.

I was really sad to hear this :(
I've been prepping for it since I found out I was going to attend Parsons in the fall. The new prize isn't bad at all, but I'm not sure how the school will react to missing four days of school when you're only allowed to miss two per semester.

I'll still try my best! My friend and I shall be cosplaying from Bride of the Water God, a korean manhua :D

good luck everyone!

Well, we're out, then... March is midterms territory so I don't think I even wanna risk it :\

Bride of the Water God is some good stuff, I really enjoy reading that manga, can't wait to actually see some cosplay from it! :D My boyfriend and I have our skit idea figured out, so all's well to go forward with it and give it a shot. Good luck to everyone!

Hooray! I was afraid no ones heard of Bride of the Water God xD I'm also afraid since there aren't many colored works, that since we're combining seperate images from the manga (I went through the entire thing and scanned/screenshot all the costume images xD) that we will be docked for accuracy D:

oh well. I'm excited to finish the costume xD

I'm excited to see all of you there!

Who said anything about March? The Yumi takes place in September. This September to be precise.

I think she meant the trip dates for the trip to Japan being in March.

Participants must wear costumes. Naked isn't a costume.

This 'Yume Cosplay Prize' sounds a lot like what Madman has been doing this year with their 'Madman National Cosplay Championship' [in australia].
Makes me wonder if Tokyo International Anime Fair has something to do with all this.

Not really. NYAF approached TIAF, not the other way around. They've been really good to deal with, despite their "No cosplay" policy. Which in all honestly, if you're getting invited to that event FOR free, dressing up like Final Fantasy should be the last thing on your mind.

What is this "No cosplay" policy"?
That sounds kind of odd

Not at all. The Tokyo Anime Festival is a industry event, that it really more a trade show to showcase upcoming series and what not. There's no designated cosplay track at the show, hence the no cosplay policy.
