Disregard the clothing in this image, I was feeling lazy <_<

I am wondering how to achieve making this wand, and what materials to use. Also how would I get a ball to stick there and make a glowing effect?

Sorry for the double post. It was pages behind and I need to know this in the next few days to get materials.

Even if anyone can tell me materials to use, I'd be happy.

Well. You could use a styrofoam ball for the sphere.
For holding it in place, you could use Fishing Line, since it's practically invisible.

Will the fishing line fix it in place, or should I use more than one and have it go off in four different directions?

(I mean, tying it at two ends, bring it through the ball and tye both strings diagonally from their original locations?)

You could also use a rubber bouncy ball for the ball. (blue ones are very common) Then take a very small needle...well 1 for each string mount you are using. Fishing string is a decent method for hanging it, I would use superglue to keep the fishing string knot from coming loose.

Remember the needle, if you are using a rubber ball push the needle in most of the way, tie said fishing string to the ball, when you're done push it in flush with the surface of the ball. You can lock the ball into a vice and use a small hammer to easily get the needle put in.

The wand itself I would use a 1 x 6 piece of wood maybe 1 x 8 depending on how large you want the end piece to be. It might have a little weight to it, but it will also survive being dropped once or twice...

Well, the wand is maybe going to be 2 feet (the staffs are even longer, i'm guessing the wand size by the outfit).
I'm getting measured for my nana and myself to start sewing my outfit, so then I can determine the wands height.

Wood? I got lots of that! My dad just finished cutting down trees where our house is going.

thank you! :]
I'll explain all this to my dad and I'll see what he can do.
