I am going to cosplay as Canada from axis powers hetalia, bit I don't wear glasses, also, I cannot order things over the internet, and I'm on a rather low budget... orz sould I but a cheap pair of those magnifying ones and pop the lenses out? and if I did would it be to obvious and look crappy? should I buy glasses and risk my eyesight, or only wear them when taking pictures? please help!!

as someone who's got the opposite problem, I'd go with a cheap pair of reading glasses, and just put them on for pictures. Even if you leave them on for a bit, if you get the lowest magnification (provided the style you need also comes at that low a strength) it won't be too hard on your eyes. Just be careful walking if you've never worn glasses; the floor'll look like it's tilted when it's not.

I would say go to a drug store and buy reading glasses for 10-20 dollars. You should be able to find a frame that's close enough.

If you want you can pop the lenses out. It generally looks better not worse. When professional photographers take studio photographs it's not uncommon for them to request you take your lenses out. Or you can just get them with the lowest adjustment which i think it .5 or .25 and it'll magnify what you see by a small amount and shouldn't throw you off too much

Go to your local thrift store and purchase a pair of glasses that look similar (or if you're lucky - an exact match) to the glasses you need. Take the lenses out of them (you will need an eye glass repair kit or a micro-screwdriver to remove the screw from the frames so you can take the lenses out). With the lenses removed, the glasses will achieve the look you need, but not affect your vision. Thrift stores generally sell old glasses for anywhere from 50 cents to a couple dollars a pair.

what you also can do is go to your local "glasses store" ( dont know the right name )
find the right "frame" those come with plastik or glass glasses but they dont do anything to your eyesight because there just for show

p.s sorry for the bad english

i think hot topic sells fake glasses, prop glasses. Or even go to a costume shop to get them. If that doesn't work, just get glasses and pop out the lenses like the other members sugguested. good luck :)

you know. claries sells CHEAP glasses with plastic in them. I also do not wear glasses and I needed some for a cosplay. They are just a plastic lens so it would be like if you took the lenses out.

You will have to go in store, since claires doesnt sell ne thing online.

GOOD LUCK!

They make costume glasses, that you can get at most Halloween stores, either online or normal stores. I've found a number of different styles online, in fact. The lenses are just normal, clear glass or clear plastic, no prescription, so it won't screw up your vision.

Everyone is already saying "take the lenses out", but they're not explaining why, so I'll add that bit: Taking the lenses out will actually be better because you won't get the reflection from the camera flash in your photos. It won't look crappy unless you need "rimless" glasses, so you should be OK buying whatever fits and popping the lenses out.

The dollar store has reading glasses for, well, a dollar. I bought a pair of frameless ones and just used the frames once :P

Reading glasses from the dollar store will work. If you feel that popping the lenses out would ruin the desired effect, you can wear them further down your nose so that you don't have to keep taking them off and putting them on. And just push them up to where they should be for photos. Saves time and money. And your eyesight!

Thank you, I've been wondering this myself as to why... And I'm not sure why it didn't come to mind until you said it. X3 It makes perfect sense.

I was curious about the glasses issue myself. While I need glasses, Dr. Stein's from Soul Eater has round glasses and I wasn't finding any- except the round hippie sunglasses and they are colored.

If you plan to pop the lenses out anyway, why worry?

I think I've seen round frames without color... here: http://www.halloweencostumes.com/a-round-glasses.html
