View Full Version : Color Contacts

Well, first off, my eyesight's really bad (I usually wear glasses or contacts). I was thinking of getting green color contacts (prescribed, of course), but I had a few questions I'd like to get answers to before I do. xD;

1. My mom said she read somewhere that color contacts worsen people's eyesights, and eventually - if worn for a long period of time - makes them go blind. Is this true?

2. I have dark brown eyes (I'm Asian - Korean, to be specific). Will the jade-ish colored contacts look weird? (Not me as a whole, but will the color come out all icky?) 'Cause I'm thinking of cosplaying Hallibel from Bleach, and I figured I should try to get green eyes. :>

Certainly doesn't sound true. The medical community wouldn't openly be using something like contacts if they were that dangerous. (though glasses/contacts will weaken the eye muscle over time.....but only making eyesight worse minimally, not blinding.)

You will probably need opaque contacts for the color to show properly over your dark eyes. This means your eye color will not show through at all.

Nah. That doesn't sound true at all. Though I HAVE heard from, I think, my grandpa or eye doctor that contacts are better than glasses when it comes to making vision worse.

Your eyedoctor should be able to answer any questions you have if you give them a call ^.^

i wear colored contacts every so often and i have naturally dark eyes and certian colors do not show up with dark eyes like the amethyst colored ones just blend in.
but with colored contacts you can only wear them for two weeks straight before you need to dispose of them leaving contacts in longer than the eye doctore tells you can lead to eye problems.

1. If that were true, contacts wouldn't be in production. The only reason I can come up with for waining eyesight with contacts OR glasses, is improper use. For example:
If you need them to read only use them to read, dont swim in them, make sure to clean them properly etc...

2. The link below should help you out.
