View Full Version : Help Making A Stuffed Animal (plush)

I recently went to AX 09 as Yusuke Urameshi from Yu Yu Hakusho. After going to the gathering I realized how cool it would have been if I had a Puu Doll with me! Since I have minor sewing skills, but lack knowledge on making a stuffed animal/plush doll, I was wondering if anyone could give me pointers on...

What materials to use? (fabric, stuffing, hair, other)
How to sew it? (Im thinking inside out and then flip it so the stitches dont show... but idk)
Any other suggestions?

Here are some pictures of what I'm trying to make.

In my mind I think I have a good idea on how to cut and place the pieces, I run into trouble when thinking about how to attach the feet, and hair, even what I should do for the eyes, mouth and eyebrows... Like I said I need help... anything would be appreciated.

In my opinion, before you make it with the actually fabric use a small piece of the fabric you are going to use as sort of a trial peice. You could probably use sharpie for the eyebrows. White fabric or felt for the eyes and black felt/fabric or sharpie again for the dots.

I would definitely try to make Puu out of fleece. Seems like you have a pretty good idea of how to make the body, so you should go from there. From there just hand-stitch the ears, feet, hands, hair, and everything else to the outside. You can use felt for the eyes, eyebrows and stomach.

Alternatively you could just commission the plushie from someone. (hint, hint, I take commissions and I'm fairly inexpensive about it!)

fleece huh? Is that what stuffed animals are made of, that make them furry? And where can I get this item from? Oh and Im still not sure what I'm suppose to do with the hair, do I just buy like a ball of fur and sew it on or glue something on there?
