forget walmart and other retail, hardware stores
they don't have 30x24x12 size
Uline sells it for about 5 bucks each

Ya Uline is pretty much the place to go for cardboard, however they have a minimum bundle ammount per order plus there's always shipping.
Whenever I go to the sign-supply to buy plywood or plastic in 4x8 sheets they usually give me a cover sheet of cardboard so the piece won't get messed up. Big sheet of pristene cardboard... swoon...
Worth looking into if you have a sign supply near you.

No no no.. You never buy cardboard. You simply get it for free. That's why cardboard is wonderful and cheap bastards like my self use it so much. One of the greatest boons the material gives us is that if you screw up a piece, there's always more somewhere.
Now, if you need particularly big sheets I think you just need to look in the right places. Most giant hardware stores, for instance, throw out tons of boxes of every imaginable shape and size. Just be sure to ask them before you go garbage picking.

The OP was talking about "buying cardboard".
For big free boxes hit the back door of the appliance store...
Stove and fridge boxes = BIG :D
