Iv'e been trying to think of all sorts of ideas to make them but none seem to conventional.

I browsed the forums and saw a Mold Magic and PVC pipe method.

MM, doesnt seem to sturdy to me, (I've made Sailor Moon props with it and broke in about 4 min). I certainly know Id be real mad if they broke in 10 min!\

PVC pipe seems great but they always have text on them. The guy in Home Depot also looked me up and down like I was a looney and said there was no way I'd be able to cut it on my own and it would crack most likely.

I though tof using craft foam boards..but that seems flimsy and cheesy...and it would get dented and marks with everything I touch.

Any ideas?

This is going to sound kind of rediculous, but this is what my friend did:

My friend took water bottles, and cut them in half down the center the long way, and sewed fabric to them. They looked great, and were extremely sturdy. I'm going to be using this method for my anbu cosplay as well.

I made a pair out of pvc sheet/sintra. Since its a hard plastic, they weren't flimsy at all, and can withstand quite a beating.

You could try paper mache, and wrap it around a cylindrical form so itll hold that shape.

What I did was I bought plaster bandages put them over my forearms, let them dry for a bit took them off, trimmed them evenly. Once they dried, they were pretty hard, then I covered them in a air-drying clay, similar to model magic then sewed on some elastic band.

If you'd like you can message me,ill show send you a pic, if i could find them that is.
