Are there any characters that you really like in the manga of a a show, but the same character in the anime just annoys the snot out of you? Vice Versa?

Personally, anime Sana [Kodomo no Omocha] makes me want to dig a hole in her face, but manga Sana is tolerable.

I *love* manga Pai [3x3 Eyes], but anime Pai... gyar! =.=

I'm usually alright with how the chars are played/written in the anime - I only have that problem with some dubs ^^; *takes out the mallet*

Aww you didn't like her? I thought she was pretty funny but I can see where you could want to keel her <<; *And* I still have yet to read the manga ._.

Oh yes.. most villains in Sailor Moon I like in the anime but not the manga, because they were completely undevelopped. (Naoko Takeuchi has a thing for revolving-door villains)

As an example to the contrary, I just /love/ manga Touga (Utena) but his anime counterpart annoyed me greatly through the first 20 or so episodes. Actually, I like /all/ the characters better in the Utena manga than the anime (with the exception of Miki who is nice in both). Probably because the manga was written by someone who thought human nature was intrinsically good while the anime seems to advocate that it is intrinsically flawed and prone to cruelty.

Hitomi from Escaflowne actually... she annoys the hell out of me in the anime. @@

Actually the weird thing is I -like- her in the movie. o.o

Manga Mamoru/Tuxedo Kamen from Sailormoon was sooo cool. I loved him to pieces. And in the anime, the poor guy was turned into this boring nonentity with absolutely no fashion sense. Poor Mamo-chan ;_;.

And then there's Kei from Pretear. . .his personality didn't really change, but I don't understand why he went from looking like a nice standard bishounen, to a cross-dressing Mihoshi. Manga Kei was so handsome ^^;;.

Akira from Akira. In the anime he was just... a bunch of tubes... but in the manga he was in his true human form.

Hrm . . . I think Manta is cooler (if it's at all possible for him to be "cool" lol) in the Shaman King manga than in the anime. And everyone in Hellsing is better in the manga. A lot of things I haven't seen the anime for yet. I still haven't really seen any Kenshin, and only like four eps of Fushigi Yuugi, so I can't compare.

Oh yes...I must say that I don't like the animated Ranma as much as the manga. This goes for *gasp* dragon ball Z as well. I really do like the comics, though I don't have the money to buy them anymore since it's such a huge series. But watching the animated Dragon Ball Z was like watching a nature show sometimes. Villian and hero leering at eachother silently *switches to scene of water splashing*.
Villian:"You will die."
Hero: -silent composure odviously stronger-
*switches to scene of trees blowing in the wind with music to evoke tension*

Riiiiiiiight....BORING. Though I will always respect the manga no matter how unpopular that may be.
