Hi everyone.

I was just wondering how I would go about finding a removable orange gun cap - my guess is they probably don't exist and I'll have to mold one out of some sort of material, shape it to the prop (Persona 3 evoker) and paint it orange. I was just wondering if anyone had seen them - googling for a half hour makes me believe such a thing doesn't exist. :lost:

If you made the gun yourself I wouldn't bother making an orange cap. It's unreasonable for any weapons check to expect you to make one. I never made any for my guns at Anime North and the weapons check guys said nothing about them. In fact, they were impressed with them.

That is just plain bad advice, as it is against the law in most states to go without the orange tip. Not to mention, unless you've got something that is obviously a prop, and doesn't look anything like a real gun, it is highly unsafe to be walking around without a good orange tip on it.

My advice, if you don't want to spend any time on it, just go get a small dowel rod, cut a bit off and wrap it in orange electrical tape, or reflective orange safety tape.

Orly? We don't have any silly laws like that up here. I suppose a removeable cap would work too.

Piece of cardboard + orange or yellow duct tape = guncap that can be removed quickly and easily.

This gun looks real. It looks like an Evoker from Persona 3, so I think it's best to have a removable cap. I was thinking bright orange electrical tape over something, a square piece of cardboard sounds like it'd work great. Thanks Xaevier!

Exactly. Silly laws. D-:<
I mean really America, we're supposed to be the "home of the brave"... but in reality we say that everything is bad and censor anything that might morally corrupt our children. ); "OH NO, THAT BRA STORE HAS MANNEQUINS WEARING BRAS IN THE WINDOWS. OH NO, MY LITTLE JOHNNY CAN'T SEE THAT, IMMA SUE! WHARBLARBLARHBL."

It's because of people like this that 4Kids was invented. D;

( BTW I'm pretty sure that actually happened. ):< )

They did make the NES zapper orange because people were worried it looked real.

Most convention policies I know state that the orange cap must NOT be removable. If that's the case for the convention you're going to, an easy solution is just to paint the tip of the gun orange. That way you've painted it on to the gun itself, and there's no problem. If you later wanted to do a photo shoot and wanted no orange cap, you could just paint right back over the orange.

Nobody is going to check to see if the cap is removable or not, I don't see it being a problem.

Anime Boston does. I've seen it ACen also does, but then again acen made me break the tips off of the dowels i was using to hold my two-piece sword together(4 foot prop limit, 7 ft sword, had to be two peices)

I'm making guns for a fallout costume and just to be safe with the folks in pittsburgh i'm going to cast the orange caps off of existing toy guns and glue them on. I mean the fallout guns won't even have barrels but better safe then sorry.
