I hope someone can help me on this. I need form fitting boots (preferably calf, but I can work with ankle and knee too) with no heel, no extra belts, grey, and a material that can be painted or dyed (and if its shiny, a material that can be sanded and dulled). I've been looking for days and I can't find anything thats my size or will work for my costume.

Reference photos for the boots:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I'd say maybe try some Uggs, or something like that. They're a little puffy but they're plain

Do Uggs get very hot in the summer? I've never owned a pair but I'm planning to use the costume in May and August.

I've never owned a pair myself (I think they're ugly as hell), BUT, they were originaly sheepskin/fleece lined boots worn in winter with the fashion ones made in a fairly similar style, so chances are yes, they'll be pretty sticky for summer.

Guh, well I might have to resort to using flats with boot covers if I can't find anything :( Oh well, thanks for the input.

Actually uggs stay somewhat cool in the summer. I got a pair and in the box it says they stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

I suggest this type though, unless you need the puffiness:

You can google search gray boots and find some cheap ones. I have a pair like this and they are super comfortable and really cool in the summer too.

Hmm, maybe I'll have to check that out now. Thanks, SailorSaturn!

I also had a thought last night--I'm using a bodysuit (the best comparison I can say for the costume is like a plugsuit) so how easy would attaching a shoe sole to the feet of a lycra bodysuit be? I thought about doing that, then making black shoe covers (kind of like a sandal clog/slip on look) that matches reference photos to make sure my feet don't slip off the sole when I walk. I just don't want to go through the pains of matching fabric colors if I need to buy flats and make tall boot covers.

I don't know, I'm just trying to look at all my options here.

You know what, I thought of that earlier before I came to the forums! XD I was thinking that putting soles on the feet of the body suit would probably look the best.

Btw, who is the character? It looks familiar but I can't pin point it.

Its Commander Shepard from Mass Effect. :) Actually, I just remembered I had separate "socks" from an old bodysuit so I could test out that theory o.O I'll update if anyone is interested in seeing how it looks.

If you're still looking, remember:

"When in doubt, check the secondhand place!"
(that's how I was able to make a majority of my cosplays)
