for the claw, you can just use some foamboard, cardboard, or wood, your choice, and then paint them silver. also, there is some sort of handle that holds them together that is attached to the palm of the glove. The glove is black with the fingers cut off and there is a red "X" on the top.

i didn't want to start a new thread on Rikku FFX, so i hope it's okay that i posted here. i'm stumped on how to make the gun holder and pouch. i don't want to use cardboard because it's really flimsy and everything...

can someone help? thanks for your time :D

latch hook works great to keep pouches n accessories stiff. :)

I had some questions too XD. What about her boots and the fabric on the back of her shirt? And what would be the best way of making her leg pouch?

For her pouch thingy I managed to find a cardboard box that was about the right size and just covered it in fabric. The straps round her leg are the same stretchy fabric, so I can pull them on (with some difficulty) and they should stay up fine. The pouch just velcros onto the straps. If I do end up having trouble getting it all to stay on, I might just attach it to my shorts.

Rikku was my first costume, but I recently re-did quite a bit of it. I bought an orange t-shirt, cut the sleeves off and used the spare fabric to make the collar. It was really stretchy fabric, so I didn't have to fiddle around with a zip. I also bought the shorts and cut the side splits. I added the trim after doing my Lenne costume, so had got the hang of ruffly things by then.

ok...for the Claw... my friend used a light modeling clay to make it with a strap across the inside of her hand. For the blue shirt things we used blue felt, it was the most resiliant since they kept getting sat on and stepped on. For the shirt, we found an orange shirt which was just the right color and had a small collar like rikkus does, however it was a sweater, so we cut off the arms and did some alterations and we had the shirt, and one of the arms of the shirt was used in making the weapon so it all worked out. Rikku is not too hard of a costume to make, its a good choice for someone new to cosplay...good luck!

oh yeah.....the pouch......
my rikku took an old black fanny pack thing and basically just cut off the straps and moved them to where they needed to be to look like rikkus, we did use some black elastic to help hold it on her leg. the nicest part of this method was that it was actually still usable as a pouch so she could hold stuff for us!

they go *poof*

just like tidus' swords and yunas staffs. :)

or do you mean where does she wear them? LOL they attach to the 2 black/brown straps around her fat-glove. ^^

to make the claw thing, I took a DVD case, and made the shape I wanted. Then I made another one to match it and spraypainted them silver. THEN, I took elastic and made a loop. after that, I took the spray paint and painted it silver also. Then attatched the band and claw and put them around the glove.
I was rikku last year and did this for my claw. I hope this helps

Thank ye Aubree. Hey, I can rhyme!! Whee. Well I had a hunch about them strapping onto her blue ribbon things but woah, the gloves? Never thought a targe would go there. Wtf is a targe anyway!?

mine are model magic and painted in silver nailpolish. *o* i love them now. unfortunately, that pic was taken before i made my renovations, so the costume itself and the ribbon holders are pretty crappy lookin. ^_^;; anwyays yeah, i used model magic and afterwards hotglued snaps to them so i could attach them to the shirt. :)

however, cuz square always has minor inconsistencies, theres no right or wrong answer to what they specifically look like. you can see in the images that angelphie posted that in game, theyre whole, silver plates but in FMV theyre very thin and the square indents are actually square holes.

personally, i dont like the thin & hole-y look so mine are full with engraved indents. ^_^
